Lucian's attention was taken by his woman. Gloria was looking away from him. She wasn't upset with him, she just wanted the attention he used to feed her when he was still on the mission of winning her heart. 

Oh, how much she adored his attention and how he always made it clear to her that she would be his and here she was in his arms again, risking it all and surrendering to him. 

Feeling his body coming closer to hers, Gloria grinned, waiting for him to touch and say something that would take her breath. 

Lucian satisfied her by placing his hands on her shoulders, bending to have a glance at her face. "I'll propose to you on your birthday, to prove to you that you are always on my mind even when I'm in pain." 

After so much thought on how he'd impress her, Lucian eventually found a way to take her breath away.
