Chapter 29: Making Profit.

As Albert set up his stand the locals started gathering around it, it was not very common for merchants to come to kamura village, especially ones that would sell their products directly. Usually, they would sell their products to the general stores, but this man had some strange crops.

"What is this and how much is it worth?"- A random man pointed at the pomegranates.

"That is a pomegranate and I just have one question what kind of currency do you all use?"-Albert

The crowd was a little shocked at first, a man not knowing what the globally accepted currency was? It was simply preposterous for it to be true yet the man was sitting in front of them.

"It's zenny sir!"-The voice of a random boy echoed throughout the area.

"Zenny? Understood then, it will be 130 zenny per kilogram of pomegranates"-Albert.

The people around him were shocked yet again, 130 zenny for a kilogram? That was reasonably affordable for everyday fruits but abnormally cheap for exotic fruits.

"But what about that one?"- another man pointed toward a mango.

"That is mango and I'd say it's about 225 zenny per kilogram"-Albert

Yet again the crowd was shocked, was this man dumb? The cost of these foreign fruits was very cheap in their own right. But these were about the price range for regular fruits rather than whatever these strange fruits were.

"But what about the rest of these?"- Spoke the same man who pointed out the pomegranate, as he gestured to the other crops.

"The little berries are pinberries and a kilogram would cost around 530 zenny due to how light they are, and they can also be wine, the wine costs about 1260 zenny per barrel I'd say. Now the green fruits next to the mangoes are Papayas and I would say that they are around 180 zenny for every kilogram. Lastly is the pumpkins, these are rather big so I would say they are around 250 zenny"-Albert.

As he said that Albert's little stall was stormed by the crowd, and his crops were being sold left and right, in the end after selling around 14 kilos of pomegranates, 23 kilos of mangoes, 17 kilos of papayas, 6 kilos of pinberries and 19 barrels of pinberry wine, there were quite a large amount of pumpkins left behind since only 3 were sold. All that combined was around 37,925 zenny, which at that point could allow him to request a palico buddy, that weird cat that fought alongside Ohta, and specifically, he requested one to help him harvest his crops back on the farm.

Until then he would have to ask for a room at the inn which alone cost him 3,000 zenny that singular night. What a rip-off.

As he woke up that morning he was greeted by Fugen when he opened the door.

"Morning Chief."-Albert

"Good morning Albert, how did you like the village?"-Fugen

"Pretty good so far, I have to go pick up a palico that I requested so that I can have some extra help on the crops and such."-Albert

"Well, I'll be on my way now, if you need anything you can just ask Minoto, the one who's responsible for the village requests."-Fugen

"Understood"-Albert

As Albert went down over to the buddy plaza he waited, sitting on a log until a certain palico went up to him questioningly.

"Ah, I'm just waiting for my palico to arrive. The name's Albert, what is your name little one?"-Albert

The palico gestured to a nameplate, which read Caco an interesting name for a cat that stood on two legs.

"Oh, I guess you were the palico assigned to me, I guess it's time. Come, we have a long journey to go."-Albert

Albert took the paw of the palico and guided it gently to come with him. The palico followed him and Albert managed to get a good look in at the palico. It had a beautiful white coat that was stained with various spots of brown and black, a calico palico if you would.

A few hours later they arrived at the temple after multiple times trying to restrain Caco from attacking the monsters that patrolled around the wilderness. Having reached his home Albert decided to give the palico a room of its own after a thorough argument arose in his bed if he should treat it as a cat and give it a cat bed or give it a room and treat it like a person.

Afterward, he led it to follow him and he taught it how to pick pinberries from the bushes.

"That's right, you pull from the stem down, not the berry unless you risk damaging the fruit. Now come on take a bite, this is your hard-earned word after all."-Albert

Showing the palico how to eat the pinberries was even more entertaining than he thought, in the end, he cut it up into pieces for the little guy. Teaching it how to pick the mangoes and papayas, however, was even more entertaining.

With his height, he could easily just grab a mango and pull it off but the little palico had to use his little stool to reach for the mangoes, and even then, sometimes he would find Caco hanging in the air, holding onto a mango like it's life depended on it. Eventually it learned not to pounce on a Mango and the papayas were easier to reach for the little one but it found entertainment in seeing how long it could stay sitting up on the stems of the papayas until they fell.

At the end of the day they were both very tired, The palico prepared to go out and hunt food, however Albert had already started preparing his dish.

Since today he had a cat in his home he made a decision to make a seafood dish tonight. He Prepared the gajau by taking out the bones and chopping the fish into segments, he then seasoned the flesh with some phase lemon from the slime ranch, as well as a bunch of salt and pepper. As he placed some wood into the fire outside to smoke the fish, he prepared a lot of leftovers from the previous days and set them outside for him and the rest of the monsters.

Soon the baked fish was ready, and so was the palico to fight against these monsters however yet again it was stopped dead in its tracks by Albert.
