Chapter 65: Chapter 65 Lovey Dovey Time
The Duke with a shocked expression ended up snapping his gaze directly at Gwendolyn hoping that her expression would give any indication on this matter.
But she did not give the answers he was hoping for.
"It is true Father"
With the confirmation of his worst fear coming true, the Duke immediately went bright red with veins pulsing all over his face it was planned to see that he was bearly holding himself together from trying to kill them.
"What's the matter Father-in-law are you constipated?" Seeing the Duke red like a tomato, May chose to annoy the Duke further hoping to give him a heart attack.
"GWENDOLYN ZARA WHAT'S THE MEANING OF THIS TRANSGRESSION !!!?" The Duke's fuse has finally run out causing Spit to fly everywhere, May quickly made a small transparent heat barrier around Gwendolyn and herself to stop the Spit from falling on them.
This did not escape the eyes of the Duke or even Gwendolyn they both saw what May did but the Duke was too angry to care and Gwendolyn had bigger problems to worry about.
"It is as she said Father" Gwendolyn's cold unfeeling voice was very distinct in the heated atmosphere, her voice was like a cold sword cutting through the duke's anger.
"I KNEW YOU WERE UNHAPPY BUT THIS !!!"
"THIS IS TOO MUCH !!"
"YOU WENT AND MARRIED A COMMONER !!!!!"
"YOU ARE BETROTHED TO LORD TUFLLEY!!"
The Duke did not stop yelling and with every word he said he was getting redder and redder it came to the point where May thought her plan succeeded but maybe due to Gwendolyn not saying anything but just coldly standing in front of the Duke with no facial expressions or Maybe because May had a gleefully smile on her face, The Duke ended up stopping his rant.
He put his palms on his face and took a deep breath then he lifted his head and gave his orders.
"Leave"
"We will discuss this at dinner"
Gwendolyn did not wait for another second she took May's hand and started leading her out.
Before the door, May took one last look at the Duke and when she saw him staring at their interlocked hands with undisguised fury she was filled with satisfaction so much so that she wished to kiss Gwendolyn to see his expression then.
But May did not have the time as Gwendolyn closed the door behind them.
Then she turned to face May.
"Why did you do that ?" Her cold voice gave May goosebumps not because of the hostility hidden just underneath the surface, May got goosebumps because that was the person she was just thinking of kissing just to anger her jerk of a Father.
Quickly hiding her embarrassment May began to give her flawed reasoning.
"Well, we need him gone right?"
Gwendolyn gave a nod as a response.
"So I thought of a way to achieve that without spilling any blood," May said with untold pride.
"..."
"..."
"And do tell what is your brilliant plan " Seeing May was not continuing, Gwendolyn chose to inquire to state her curiosity.
"Well you just saw my plan and it failed"
Gwendolyn was intensely watching May hoping to see any deceit or something that would give her any clue of what the raven-haired woman was thinking but she did not manage to get anything as the woman was keeping a perfect poker face.
'Sigh' With Gwendolyn's sigh the conversation continued
"So you planned to anger my father ?"
Seeing that Gwendolyn stopped her assessment, May broke her poker face and with a wide smile on her face and a voice full of enthusiasm, she stated.
"Nop I tried to give him a heart attack"
Gwendolyn raised an eyebrow at that.
"How would you,? rather, what brought you to that line of thinking"
Gwendolyn asked as she wished to know how this woman's faulty brain worked.
But May did not disappoint.
"Well my dad always said if I ever brought my boyfriend to meet him he would have a heart attack so I thought if your dad who hates same-sex marriages hears his daughter is married to another woman he would die on the spot"
Gwendolyn now raised both eyebrows and looked at May with a 'Are you serious ' face.
May sheepishly rubbed the back of her head.
"But it didn't work so yeah"
Seeing that May was serious Gwendolyn proceeded to rub the bridge of her nose to stop a migraine from forming.
"Of course, it didn't work if a 9th circle swordsman died from a heart attack then the whole realm would be in an uproar"
"Well I know that now"
'Sigh' With a sigh Gwendolyn started walking away from May.
"Hey, Where are we going ?"
"I'm going to my room to think of a plan" Gwendolyn did not turn to face May she just answered and continued on her way.
"Okay let's go" May did not seem to get the subtle hint in Gwendolyn's words so she took Gwendolyn's hand and started leading her in a random hallway.
Gwendolyn pulled her hand from May's grasp and faced her.
"Do you even know where you are going?"
"Ahm well that "
"You don't"
"Well.... yea"
'Sigh' With another Sigh Gwendolyn started walking in the opposite direction.
Seeing that May did not follow her this time she turned to see what was happening.
The sight of May just standing in the hallway with tears in the corner of her eyes slightly moved Gwendolyn's heart.
'Sigh' With her hopefully finally sigh Gwendolyn extended her hand.
"Are you coming or not ?"
An extremely lovely smile bloomed on May's face that caused Gwendolyn's heart to skip a beat, May took Gwendolyn's hand and gave her a nod.
Gwendolyn quickly turned her face away from May so she would not see the fierce blush that refused to leave her cheeks.
"Hmm let's go " With that both started walking away from the duke's study but what Gwendolyn did not know was that their lovely interaction was seen by a very furious Duke who was cursing at himself for not spending a little extra for the observers with sound.
'Why did I have to save money when buying observers ?'
'I should have listened to the clerk, sound is important.'
'Damn it'
