Chapter 195: Children?
At PokeCatch Cafe, Selina picked up the Jigglypuff shaped teapot and filled the empty cups on the table with rose milk tea. Since the girls ordered different desserts, the shapes of their cups varied based on what they ordered. Stirring the milk tea in a clockwise swirl, Selina placed her chin on her palm. "Is there no other way?" She was referring to the latex allergy and being unable to use condoms issue.
Holding the Pikachu ears on both sides of the cup, Celinda sipped the drink quietly. In the corner of her eyes, she spotted the evil smirk on Kyla and Jessica's face. Though Jessica was considered inexperienced in this topic, she took a health course mainly about contraceptives before. Hence, she could make a few comments and suggestions.
At the moment, Jessica calmly picked up a spoon and scooped coconut sago out of the Togepi cake she ordered. Seeing Jessica taste the dessert at a slow pace, Celinda waited for one of them to answer Selina's question.
"Honey, you could learn how to calculate your ovulation days. Those are the unsafe days of the month where you have the highest chances of conceiving. Just avoid those days. Do you keep a record of your period days each month?" Kyla spaced out on her dessert. She felt conflicted at the moment. She frowned at her vibrant jelly stacked cake with various Pokémon shaped designs on it. Her cravings for dessert was enough to make her cry at home recently, but now, she didn't want to eat it anymore.
Selina noticed Kyla hadn't touched her cake yet, while everyone else already started eating. She nodded, "I have the past several months noted down on my calendar. Why?"
Placing the spoon that was used to scrape off whip cream from the cake, Kyla reached out to ask Selina for her phone. "Hand me your phone. I'll install an app for menstrual cycles and ovulation calculation. This way, just make sure you avoid certain days of the month before having sex."
After a few clicks, a new app was installed on Selina's phone. "Alright. Now, you just have to review the calendar before doing it." Kyla handed the phone back to her.
"En. Thank you!" Selina concentrated on the menstrual cycle app on her phone and started reviewing the data.
"Oh, right!" Celinda swallowed a spoonful of herbal jelly. "I am going on vacation for two weeks with Bryan, so I won't be hanging out with you guys later. I still have to pack my luggage."
"Eh? When did you guys plan this?" Selina looked up from her phone with a meaningful smile on her face.
"It was his idea. I think he planned it on his own, and I just agreed when he asked me." Celinda stuffed a spoonful of pudding into her mouth while answering Selina's questions.
Kyla let out a dry cough. "Celinda, dear. Don't play too hard."
Celinda blushed, comprehending the meaning behind her words. "You think too much!"
A soft chuckle left Kyla's mouth. "Oh? I only told you to be careful while playing. Besides, you should think about safety and protection first. Hehe. I didn't say anything else. Or are you the one thinking wrong? Hmm?"
Although Celinda understood the hints the first time she spoke. A saddening thought entered her mind. The last time she visited the doctor was for a full body examination before getting married. Unfortunately, the results weren't ideal. As if she wanted to avoid facing reality, she chose not to visit the doctors afterwards. There were countless times where she wondered if she should tell Bryan that she was infertile. However, words became stuck whenever she wanted to tell him about it.
"By the way, Kyla, do you not like the dessert you ordered? You only took one bite out of it." Selina looked at the messy whip cream on the side of the plate.
Kyla shook her head. "I really wanted dessert, but my cravings went away after seeing it. Maybe I'm not in the mood for it anymore. Do any of you want it? If not, I'll take it home or something." She looked at the jelly dessert with a lopsided smile.
Selina took an unused spoon and tasted the dessert. "It tastes pretty good. Hmm, maybe it's because you aren't feeling too well. We should bring you home after this and let you rest. If you don't feel like eating this, just bring it home and wait until you have appetite."
Kyla nodded, "Okay. You guys don't have to bring me home if you have other plans. It isn't that far from my house."
"No worries. We'll feel better seeing you get home safely. Plus, your house is along the route anyway." Selina pressed the service button. Celinda and Jessica both nodded in unison. They had the same idea in their minds because Kyla's expression looked rather pale. Even if the girls lived in different directions, they wouldn't leave her alone.
After settling the bill, the girls sent Kyla home and separated from each other. Celinda had to buy necessities for her trip, while Jessica had to go back to her company. Selina received a call from Jason and they agreed on meeting at his office since she was close by.
Across the street from Hui Corps, Selina stopped in front of the red light. She scrolled through the calendars with her marked menstrual cycles and the ovulation days. As she wondered whether she should invest in trying out birth control pills, she heard a soft giggle beside her.
Looking down, a baby girl with a pair of hazel eyes and a goofy smile blew bubbles out of her tiny lips in the stroller. Although her mother wiped the drool away, the baby seemed to love acting mischievously. She blinked, waved her small arms outwards and parted her small mouth at Selina. Seeing such a lovely greeting, Selina waved back in response and smiled at the cheerful baby.
The baby girl's eyes widened and laughed happily, stretching her chubby cheeks outwards. For a second, Selina almost wanted to reach out and caress her adorable cheeks.
Once the light changed into a pedestrian sign, Selina walked in small steps next to the mother and daughter pair. She enjoyed the short company she had while walking across the street. She stood at the corner and watched the two leave. Suddenly, she looked down at her flat tummy and wondered how special it would feel to carry her and Jason's child. A charming smile sat on her lips as she walked into Hui Corps - she found the answer to her question.
