Chapter 17: rest assured 1
Karenina, looking out the window of the plane, averted her eyes from the figure like a Greek god who lately haunts her wherever she goes.
While Alfredo is still busy with a laptop and a connected tab, after all he is a boss who has to handle every job related to the continuity of the company.
"Wife-to-be, do you have the heart to see your future husband working without food and drink on his desk?" Alfredo said to Karenina who just turned her head without changing her facial expression which was only flat and instead seemed cold.
"I think on this plane there are some flight attendants who are only available to serve you, is that still lacking?" replied Karenina curtly.
Alfredo chuckled, "I just want your coffee, isn't that okay?"
"What if I say no?"
"You're making me miserable." Alfredo said with a smile.
"That's good."
"Yeah, it's good I'm languishing for your love, and soon it's going to drive me crazy."
Mayang shrugged nonchalantly, she wanted to look back at the flying clouds, before hearing her future husband, who was handsome and rich, spoke again.
"According to research, libido will increase as a person's infatuation increases. And that's good that means that__ " Before Alfredo could finish his words, Karenina had stood up from the chair and walked to the pantry to make a cup of Alfredo's favorite coffee.
Alfredo chuckled, He really understands the nature of that one Karenina even though what he is about to convey is the result of his own composition, He just wants to tease Karenina.
Not long after, Karenina came back with a cup of coffee in her hand. Then put it on Alfredo's front desk.
"Thank you, future wife." Said Alfredo who smiled gently then closed his laptop and put it back in his bag.
"We'll be there in a minute, and we still have enough time for a walk or are you spending our time at the hotel?" Alfredo asked then took a sip of coffee made by Karenina.
"Hmm, good coffee." Alfredo said and Karenina still didn't answer her question.
"Are you still angry?" Alfredo asked, looking at Karenina who was still looking at the rows of clouds outside the plane.
"According to you?"
"Karen, I won't tell you anything about Zarima, but one day you will find out for yourself what happened, and I don't want to compare the two of you. You are you and Zarima is Zarima." Alfredo said in a serious tone.
The incident before leaving for the airport made Karenina act cold towards Alfredo, namely when Alfredo received a call from Zarima and spoke to the woman in a cold and slightly rude tone, that made Karenina angry at Alfredo. According to Karenina, Zarima does not deserve to be treated like that, after all Zarima is a victim of Alfredo's betrayal. Even though in reality, it was Alfred who was betrayed by Zarima without Karenina knowing.
Alfredo kept his mouth shut about his best friend Tama's affair with Zarima on Karenina, because he didn't want to be considered a lie and only had an excuse to marry her, Alfredo hoped that one day Karenina would find out for herself Zarima's rottenness.
"But shouldn't you speak harshly to him?" Said Karenina, still without even looking at Alfredo and still attracted by the rolling clouds like they were chasing them.
"I'm sorry, but I have no reason not to be rude to her."
"Why? Because you're bored? So you look for another woman, to kill your boredom? Or why?" Karenina asked now. She dared to turn to Alfredo and glared at him.
"If that's the reason I've done it a long time ago. Not with you." Alfredo replied with a gentle look, though Karenina was staring at him sharply.
"I don't want you to do that to Zarima again, it really makes me uncomfortable. I've had enough of being her husband's snatcher, and I don't want to be her husband's love grabber."
'You will never understand, until you find out the truth yourself.' Alfredo muttered under his breath.
"Okay, I'm sorry."
"You should apologize to Zarima."
"Next time I will." Said Alfredo who did not want to prolong their debate.
"Now please hug me, I will die if I don't have your hugs all day." Alfredo said with a pleading face that made him suffer as much as possible, making Karenina couldn't help but smile.
"Ehmmmm! You're so beautiful when you smile." Alfredo teased with a big smile.
"You're really good at flirting. How many women have you flirted with, hm?" Karenina asked with a smile at Alfredo.
"Ehm! How much is it?" Alfredo pretended to be thinking even though he had never cheated on a woman all this time.
"Karen, Nina, Karenina, that's all." Alfredo answered while resting his chin.
Karenina laughed out loud, then pinched Alfredo's arm.
"Why are you laughing? I'm telling the truth, you know." Alfred said.
"You really are an excellent matchmaker, commendable." Karenina said with a laugh.
"Yes, because you are the only one who can make me flirt, only you can make me be silly, only you can make me fall in love." Alfredo said with a serious face as if locking his eyes not to look away from Alfredo for a second.
"I love you, Karen." Alfredo said looking at Karenina's face which suddenly turned completely red.
Karenina is confused about what to say, on the other hand she doesn't want to be carried away by the love that Alfredo gave her, because she doesn't want Alfredo to leave her one day, and she doesn't want to be hurt because of it. But on the other side of his heart, he also couldn't deny a feeling that made him flutter when he was close to Alfredo, the feeling of comfort when he was with him could not be exchanged for anything.
"Al, I_ I_"
"You don't need to answer anything Karenina, I'm sure if you can't love me right now, one day I will be the first to rule your heart, before our children."
"Child?"
"We discussed this this morning, Karen. Don't tell me you forgot to give me a dozen children."
"Ha?"
"I only want from you, not from other women."
"But zarima?"
"Don't mention other people's names when we're alone. Just you and me. OK?"
Karenina stared intently at Alfredo's face, then nodded obediently.
"Believe me, I won't leave you no matter what."
"Don't promise Al, I don't want you to break it someday."
"Okay, but one thing you have to know, if I really love you, nothing else. You have to believe it. Even though the truth is I am a married man, but that won't change my heart. I love you far more than you know."
Alfredo really managed to make Karenina unable to say anything else, his words were like magic that washed her away to always believe anything that came out of Alfredo's mouth without the slightest rebuttal.
