Chapter 1: Prologue
His body was like paper on a table, mobile but motionless. As soon as the first skift of winter hit the earth, he was gone. I was 10, he was 46. I felt a part of me disappear with a final fleeting flicker, like a lightbulb that's out of time. He too, like that lightbulb was out of time.
Life was never the same, we had to move to a different city and my mom found a new boyfriend. Life became normal again.
We had finally gotten used to our new life, Bill was just out of Elementary School and I just got into high school, life was unrushed. Then the same way dad died, mom died; of heart failure. The world seemed to stop, look me in the eye and spit on my face.
"But I will come on top", I think, "or will I?"
