Chapter 2: The witch

I walked through the bustling streets of the market, the famous market in Eldrida the capital city of Aradia, keeping my head down and my hood pulled low over my face.

I wore plain clothes, a simple tunic, and trousers, so as not to attract any attention. I was careful to blend in with the crowd of peasants and merchants who thronged the narrow alleys and winding streets of the market.

Though the two soldiers who followed me might be looking a bit suspicious with their stiff demeanor. They were also in plain clothes blending in with the people.

I managed to convince my aunt to let me do this.

I told her that I was going to the temple to pray for my happy marriage. Only a few tears were enough for the king to agree to my request.

Obviously, I was not here for that. I was here not to enjoy this but, on a life-changing mission.

My whole life depends on this one. I have to be careful.

As I continued walking through the market, I took note of the different stalls and shops that lined the streets. The market was a hub of activity, with people from all walks of life coming to buy and sell their wares.

The air was filled with the smells of fresh fruits and vegetables, roasted meats, and sweet pastries.

Joy filled me as I walked these streets, I love my kingdom and the people in it. It was nothing grand, just a normal kingdom, there are things that make it unique, but it certainly is not as grand as the kingdom of kysoria, but it was still beautiful. I love it with all my heart.

This is my home, the place I have grew up in. These people love me as much as they love their king.

It is the reason I had to use enchantment to make sure no one in the market recognize me.

The market was divided into different sections, each specializing in a particular type of goods. There was a section for clothing and fabrics, where merchants displayed bolts of fine silk and colorful cotton.

Another section was dedicated to pottery and ceramics, with beautifully crafted plates and bowls displayed on shelves.

There were also sections for jewelry, books, and even weapons. I couldn't help but be fascinated by the various trinkets and baubles that were for sale, and the market vendors were more than happy to show off their wares and bargain with potential customers.

The streets of the kingdom were just as varied as the market stalls. The winding cobblestone roads were lined with buildings of all shapes and sizes, ranging from small cottages to towering mansions.

The architecture was a mix of styles, reflecting the cultural diversity of the kingdom's inhabitants.

Some of the buildings were made of stone, with elaborate carvings and stained-glass windows. Others were made of wood, with intricate patterns etched into the beams. The roofs were made of thatch, tile, or slate, depending on the wealth of the owner.

The noise of the city was a constant hum, punctuated by the occasional shout or cry. Despite the differences in social status between the people, everyone seemed to be going about their business without much concern for one another.

I marveled at the way the city seemed to function as a living organism, with each person playing a small but important role in keeping it running smoothly.

As I continued walking, I couldn't help but feel a sense of admiration for the people of her kingdom. They may have been different in many ways, but they were all united by their love for their city and their commitment to making it a better place for everyone.

I smiled as I continued, "Princess the temple is that way." one of my soldiers interrupted, pointing in the opposite direction as if I didn't know that.

But my destination is what I am looking for. "I know, I wanted to walk these streets who knows when I will be able to once I get married," I said and continued on my search.

You might be thinking about what I was searching for.

It is a who.

I am searching for a person. A witch to be exact.

Everyone on this planet has some kind of unique abilities, but the witches they have the most incredible powers.

While humans can do a certain thing, witches can do almost everything with their spells.

I heard the palace maids talking that there is a witch in this city. They have been buzzing about it.

I have to find her. She will be able to help me.

There is a small problem with it.

No one knows where the witch is, or what she looks like.

she appears at random in front of a few selected people.

I can't exactly wait for her to appear when she wants while I was running out of time. So i decided to search for her.

I told Cassie about this plan and had her look for the witch too. As I walked through the less crowded streets, there was barely anyone there.

I noticed a commotion up ahead. I heard raised voices and the sound of a scuffle. My curiosity piqued, I quickened her pace and made my way toward the commotion.

A hand appeared in front of me, stopping me in my place, it was my guards, "please stay here. We will see what is happening."

I stood there in the empty alley, as they made their way into a smaller much darker alley, it was small, with another alley connected to the smaller one.

They disappeared from my sight. It might be just some street thugs, annoying the people. it will be solved within a minute. There was no need for me to worry.

But there was something about the alley that was not sitting right with me.

I frowned waiting for my soldiers to return. an ominous feeling about this situation. Something was wrong, I couldn't put my finger on it but I was feeling it in my gut.

I decided to listen to it and made my way into the alley, there was nothing, but as I neared the connected alley, I saw blood.

This is not looking good; I might have just walked into something I can never get out of.
