Chapter 18: 2 years

Winter transitioned into spring, and in the blink of an eye, two years had passed, bringing Konoha's total age to 32 years.

At the Ninja School, the curriculum for students was primarily divided into two categories: practical courses and theoretical courses.

Practical courses included ninja equipment control, three-body exercises, and gymnastics.

Theoretical courses encompassed ninja geography, ninja history, basic poison science, basic sealing techniques, basic ninjutsu analysis, and more.

Most children under the age of 12 were naturally active, and while they aspired to become ninjas, they were more interested in practical courses that directly improved their combat abilities. Theoretical courses, which sounded like listening to lectures from the heavens, did not pique their interest.

Furthermore, the minimum requirement for graduating from Ninja School was mastering the Three-body Technique, leading most students to focus heavily on practical classes and neglect the theoretical ones.

This bias was a common phenomenon in ninja schools. In Kirito's perspective, the theoretical courses, excluding ninja geography and ninja history, were challenging for most ordinary students without a foundation.

For instance, basic poison science involved numerous technical terms. Students who aimed to create basic poisons and antidotes through books needed to comprehend these terms first, otherwise their production would fail. Many of these terms were not even understood by the class teacher, let alone the students. The teaching teacher would not repeatedly explain them during class, leaving it up to the students to understand through their memory and private efforts.

Basic sealing techniques presented a similar challenge. For the students at Ninja School, these two subjects were akin to being introduced to advanced mathematics right away. Only true geniuses could keep up with the teacher's lecture speed.

The teachers at the school were fully aware that the students struggled with the theoretical classes from the beginning. They held no high expectations for the students in these classes, knowing how difficult the textbooks were.

These subjects were not meant for children of this age to learn thoroughly. They were added to provide students with a basic understanding of poisons, sealing techniques, and various escape techniques, ensuring they wouldn't be completely ignorant in the future and could bring back useful intelligence if necessary.

Of course, if a genius happened to be discovered, that would be an added bonus.

In the Ninja School's basic poison science class, eight-year-old Kirito listened attentively as the teacher with a pineapple hairstyle discussed a method for creating a healing pill that wasn't in the textbook. Kirito carefully took notes, deeply interested in the topic.

Kirito was engrossed in the lecture, while Chizuru and Nawaki had chosen to skip class and practice ninjutsu outdoors.

They weren't the only ones with this idea, as many students opted to skip class as well. Consequently, the classroom that should have held 50 students had only about half of them present, with most of those in attendance appearing disinterested and either daydreaming or dozing off.

The teacher, however, turned a blind eye to this behavior, as long as no disruptions occurred in the class. He focused on passing on his knowledge to the attentive students.

Time seemed to fly by when one was fully engaged in learning. Just as Kirito was deeply absorbed in the lecture, the bell rang, signaling the end of class. The teacher promptly concluded the lecture and announced the end of the class.

The students rushed out of the classroom with excitement, heading outside to enjoy their free time.

Taking advantage of the teacher's presence in the classroom, Kirito approached him and placed a small medicine bottle in front of him.

He looked at the teacher expectantly and said, "Mr Nara, this is a hemostasis pill I made yesterday. Could you please check its quality?"

Nara Shisui, a medical ninja proficient in pharmacology and pharmaceuticals, was currently teaching basic toxicology at the ninja school. He was the father of Nara Suzaku, cousin of Nara Shikaku, and a member of the Nara Clan.

"Hemostasis pill? You actually made one."

Surprised by this, Nara Shisui examined the medicine bottle, poured out a small pill, and carefully inspected it.

A hemostasis pill, as the name suggested, was designed to quickly stop bleeding and accelerate the body's hematopoiesis. This type of pill wasn't part of the basic poison science curriculum.

Kirito had decided to create it due to some personal interactions with Nara Shisui over the past two years. He had excelled in his theoretical classes, becoming a top student who gained favor with his teachers.

He had a strong interest in medical ninjutsu and, upon learning that his teacher was a medical ninja, began to frequently approach him under the guise of seeking knowledge from books.

Over time, he developed a friendly relationship with Nara Shisui.

While Kirito hadn't yet succeeded in learning medical ninjutsu from him, he had unintentionally acquired a great deal of knowledge about pharmacology and pharmaceuticals products.

Combining this knowledge with his self-taught medical expertise, his medical skills had been steadily improving.

Nara Shisui examined the pill's appearance, scent, and even tasted a bit of the powder to assess its quality.

"It's not perfect, but it meets the standard," he declared, offering Kirito a smile of approval.

"Really, Teacher ?" Kirito's face lit up with joy upon hearing the teacher's praise.

"Yes, but remember, you must continue to work hard and not become complacent," Nara Shisui advised.

"I promise, Teacher. I'll keep striving to improve my knowledge of pharmacology and pharmaceutical techniques," Kirito replied with determination. He recognized the practical value of this knowledge, especially in terms of potential income.

Now, during the era of war, the importance of medicine was evident. Kirito had already opened a restaurant with the Yakushi Nono, which was helping to sustain the orphanage financially.

However, it wasn't sufficient to support several future ninjas from the orphenage or fund Kirito's scientific research endeavors aimed at mastering core technologies similar to Orochimaru's, which would accelerate his personal growth.

To achieve these goals, Kirito needed a substantial amount of money. Medical knowledge and expertise were valuable assets in this context, and Kirito recognized the potential for financial gain as well as the opportunity to support his goals.

"Kirito, have you considered joining the medical class?"

Shisui pondered for a moment before asking.

He couldn't ignore Kirito's interest in learning medical ninjutsu from him.

However, considering Kirito's current status as Mito-sama's disciple, where he was already immersed in learning sealing techniques and displaying remarkable talent, Nara Shisui decided against teaching him medical ninjutsu at this time.

After all, a person's energy and time were limited resources.

Nonetheless, Kirito's talent for medical ninjutsu had deeply impressed him.

His ability to quickly craft a C-level hemostatic pill on his own was nothing short of remarkable.

Recognizing Kirito's potential, Nara sensei had already started training him.

Kirito had the potential to become a crucial asset to the medical class in the future.

Medical ninjas' abilities extended beyond medical ninjutsu; they also included the production and development of medicines.

These aspects were equally important, if not more so.

Medical ninjas, constrained by their finite chakra, had limitations in their healing abilities.

However, with an ample supply of medicines, they could heal more people in need.

Furthermore, Kirito had previously demonstrated excellent chakra control abilities, effortlessly healing injured fish.

Mastering advanced medical ninjutsu like the Healing palm Art should be well within his reach.

Kirito had the potential to become an exceptional medical ninja, rivaling even the likes of Tsunade-sama.

Konoha's medical class was currently in need of promising young talents like Kirito.

"Medical class? Teacher, have you finally agreed to teach me medical ninjutsu?"

Kirito's excitement was palpable upon hearing his teacher words.

"No, I'm merely allowing you to attend the class to learn. There's a condition, though—you must utilize your pharmaceutical skills to aid the frontline heroes by producing pills. If you wish to study medical ninjutsu, you have a long way to go."

Nara Shisui playfully ruffled Kirito's hair and chuckled.

There were limits to how much he could reveal, especially since Mito-sama's approval was essential.

"Help the heroes on the front line? Can I do that?"

Kirito's excitement surged once more.

This opportunity would provide him with ample chances to practice in the medical class, gain more medical knowledge, and learn various herbal formulas.

It was an internship he was determined to make the most of.

The process of pill-making was no walk in the park.

Even with the right formula and knowledge, without sufficient experience, the failure rate could remain remarkably high.

To successfully craft the hemostatic pill, Kirito had to invest a significant amount of money. Medicinal materials were now expensive, and without the support of Nono's restaurant and occasional sales of seal tags and scrolls, he would have faced bankruptcy. It was impossible to achieve such quick success without these resources.

Additionally, his biological experiments were a never-ending financial drain.

In summary, Kirito found himself in a tight spot financially, lacking the means to earn substantial income.

Selling medicine emerged as a practical solution.

Nara Shisui reassured Kirito, "No problem. If you can successfully produce the hemostatic pill, you'll be able to assist the courageous heroes on the frontline."

Kirito's excitement surged even further, expressing his determination to join the medical class.

"He's such a commendable young man. We'll discuss this matter with Lord Mito later. He should take the initiative to inform Lord Mito about his intentions. Kirito is in need of a deeper understanding of medical knowledge." Nara Shisui added, appreciating Kirito's dedication.

He believed that Kirito's medical talents could greatly benefit from more in-depth medical knowledge, and he planned to discuss the matter with Mito-sama.

--------------------------------------------

Shortly afterward, Nara shisui report reached the third generation, who was intrigued by the idea of Kirito entering the medical class. However, he had reservations because he saw Kirito's potential as a formidable combat ninja.

Over the past two years, Kirito had excelled in both theoretical and practical courses at the Ninja School. His physical abilities were at the level of a Chunin, and he continued to improve rapidly. Kirito had also shown proficiency in the Thunder Release nature transformation and mastered various Thunder Release ninjutsu. Additionally, under Mito-sama's tutelage, he had even learned the complex Four Elephants Seal and demonstrated the potential to use the Five Elements Seal if not for his limited chakra reserves.

At the age of eight, Kirito's strength surpassed that of many Chunin, and he had the potential to become an extraordinary Chunin with proper chakra management. The third generation recognized Kirito's combat prowess and was hesitant to redirect his path towards becoming a medical ninja.

It's not like he doesn't recognise the importance of the medical class, but he felt that focusing on that path will waste kirito talent.
