Chapter 10: Trap and Escape

The beasts in the forest and wilderness were divided into several layers depending on their fighting power. Most of the beasts found in the forest and in the outskirt of the wilderness were low-level beasts. These beasts have the same fighting power and strength as a cultivator within the mortal realm.

High-level beasts were stronger as they have the fighting power and strength of cultivators within the martial realm. This also allowed them to be more intelligent than low-level beasts.

When high-level beasts accumulated enough power and strength, they can break through to the True Martial Realm and will become martial beasts. They will be able to easily fight a cultivator of the same realm.

True Martial Realm practitioners usually tame these to become their tamed beasts that can help them during battles or even as mounts when traveling.

It is said that when martial beasts break through to the Immortal Realm, they will transform into Celestial Beasts and can assume a human appearance.

In the forest outside Angel City, Migo and Polter entered the forest and continued traveling going to the wilderness. Migo decided to continue his travel in the wilderness as this will give him more chances of encountering low-level beasts to gain more fighting experience and improve his skills.

"How long have you been traveling?" Polter asked as they follow the path to the wilderness.

"It has been a couple of months already." He answered. "I have been following the southwest direction since I left the Ember Kingdom."

"Do you have a specific place to go to?" He asked again.

He smiled and shook his head. "Not really, but I will know that I have reached the place I need to go once I am there."

Polter just nodded showing him that he understood.

Someone unsuspectingly entered the forest as well and moving in the same direction they took. It was Uragiri who has been following them since they left the city.

'Are they planning to go to the wilderness?' He was wondering as the two continue walking. He did not bother using any martial art skill or technique when tailing them since they were weaker than him that he can easily use his divine energy to hide.

'No matter where they go, I can easily disable them and get those remaining low-level energy stones from them.' He told himself. 'With that, I can improve my cultivation and breakthrough to the Martial Sky layer.'

The sun was already shining brightly in the middle of the sky when they reached the outskirt of the wilderness.

Uragiri silently watched them as the two decided to get some rest.

'I think this is already far enough to cause any commotion.' He thought. 'It is time for me to get those energy stones.'

Migo and Polter was about to get some rest before continuing their travel when suddenly they heard some footsteps not far from them. When they looked behind, they saw Uragiri walking slowly towards them. He smiled at them evilly without hiding his bad intentions.

"I did not really expect you knew each other." He started. "A trash disciple of the sect and a lone cultivator, what a combination."

"W-what are you doing here, Brother Uragiri?" Polter stuttered. He acted surprised to see him followed them.

"Oh, I just wanted to visit the forest, and what a coincidence, I saw the two of you." He casually answered and looked at Migo. "I didn't know you know this guy from the inn. Is he the guy you were telling me the other day?"

Polter looked at Migo and didn't answer.

"Uragiri." Migo glared at him. "I heard everything that happened. You accused Polter of stealing the energy stones he earned from helping me. And seeing that you followed us from the city, we can already guess that you are after these energy stones that I have."

He showed him a small bag that contains the low-level energy stones.

Uragiri chuckled and his eyes shone with greed. "You are smart. Give me those energy stones and I'll let the two of you go."

He started to slowly approach them.

When he was just a few steps away, Migo answered. "And you are dumb thinking that we will believe you."

He threw a small bottle towards Uragiri who quickly reacted and used one of his arms to defend. The small bottle broke and its content splashed on his robe.

At the same time, Migo activated a Sealing Dome talisman that he bought the other day which formed a small dome around Uragiri locking him in. This talisman can lock a cultivator below the Martial Sky layer for twenty breaths of time. This cost him a low-level energy stone to purchase.

Uragiri was startled at first when he saw them used talisman against him but did not panic. He was familiar with the Sealing Dome talisman and that it will automatically disappear after some time. He saw the two started running deeper into the wilderness.

"Did you really think that this can stop me?" He shouted at them.

Even if they make a run for it now, he was confident that he will be able to capture them knowing that he was faster because of his higher cultivation.

"Should we use it now?" Polter asked. He was talking about the Tiger Wing talisman that Migo gave him.

"Yes." Migo answered.

They activated the talismans at the same time and were able to move faster. The Tiger Wing talisman allowed the user to have the speed of a Winged Tiger for ten breaths. This kind of talismans was very effective for cultivators with low cultivation like them.

They went deeper in the wilderness despite the danger of encountering high-level beasts. If they could not escape Uragiri, they will die anyway.

After a while they heard Uragiri shouting behind them. "The two of you will die in my hand."

"What should we do, brother?" Polter asked as he continued running beside him.

"We can stop here." He answered.

Polter nodded and both stopped to face Uragiri.

When Uragiri saw this, his smile became wider. "Have you already accepted your fate?"

He moved faster and stopped just a couple of meters away from them. "Give me the low-level energy stones and I might change my mind and spare your lives."

"You are definitely stronger than us." Migo said. "But that does not mean you are smarter."

Uragiri laughed when he heard it. "I do not care who is smarter than who. What I care about are my low-level energy stones."

He was about to make his move when they suddenly heard roars from where they have been. Migo and Polter looked at each other and smiled.

When Uragiri saw this, he has a bad premonition that something was wrong. He looked around and realized that they were deep in the wilderness. When he looked behind me, he saw three large silhouettes moving in their direction.

He looked at them carefully and realized that they were three Earth Bears. These bears were high-level beasts, and each has the strength of a Martial Realm cultivator.

'What is going on?' He asked himself.

"You might be wondering why there are Earth Bears moving in our direction." Migo started. "It is because you attracted them. They were after you. The bottle I threw you earlier contains diluted honey of the Oishī Bees. Earth Bears love the honey produced by these bees."

Uragiri remembered the attack. He was able to notice the hint of honey but did not really bother about it since it did not do anything against him.

"We may not be strong, but we know how to use our brain, Brother Uragiri." Polter added. "You brought this to yourself."

Polter activated another Sealing Dome talisman that locked in Uragiri.

"You bastard." Uragiri realized that everything was a trap. He was stuck inside the sealing dome again and Earth Bears were just a few meters away from them.

"Let's go, Brother Migo." Polter said.

"Alright." He responded.

Both activated another Tiger Wing talisman and moved away from there. They went back at the outskirt of the wilderness.

"That was awesome, Brother Migo." Polter exclaimed. "How did you know that there will be Earth Bears around?"

"There was a book in the inn I stayed at about the low-level and high-level beasts that can be found in the wilderness near Angel City. One of them is the Earth Bear." He explained. "According to what I have read, they love the honey produced by Oishī Bees and can smell them even from hundred meters away. Luckily, I found a bottle of the diluted Oishī Bees honey from the night market and thought of this idea. Earth Bears are known to be strong and violent so I am confident that they will be attracted to the smell of the honey and attack Uragiri if they are unable to find it.

Although we were able to trap him until those high-level beasts arrive, there is still a possibility that he can get away from them. Let us continue moving until we are far from here."

It was already dark when they decided to stop and rest.

"We have already traveled so far, and I do not think he will continue following us should he escape those Earth Bears." Migo said.

"You are right, Brother Migo." Polter agreed.

"Now that you are no longer a disciple of the Cloud Mountain Sect, you have to work hard." Migo said. "In the future, show them that they threw away a gem just to keep an ordinary stone."

"Yes, Brother Migo." He replied.

"And just call me Migo moving forward." He added. "You should stop being too formal."

"Yes, M-Migo." Polter said.

"We will rest here for tonight and continue our travel tomorrow." Migo said. "Alright, let us eat first."
