Chapter 2: Cohort A
Finally, we get out cohorts today! They didn't tell us how we would find them; just that, on the 25th of August, we would be able to see them. We were also told we would be able to see other people's. My heart was racing. I had to find out my cohort. And then hers. And then...
And then nothing, Ava. I tell myself. Wait to find out first. Don't get your hopes up. I search and search, scouring the online pages for any sign of my cohort.
Suddenly, I get a text. It's my group chat. My only group chat. The one with her. I smile inwardly and read the text. "I got cohort b". It's Liz. Okay. One down, four to go.
"I'm A" chimes in Mac (that's short for Mackenzie, by the way.)
"Me too." That's Angel. That leaves just me and...
I find it. I'm group A. I quickly text my friends to let them know. Crestfallen, I'm sure this must mean that she's in group B. The odds couldn't favor our friend group that well. And, besides, if she's in A, then Liz would be alone in B. I sigh, and decide to double check anyway. I search her name. Find her profile. Click it. Scroll down. And...
She's in my group. My heart stops. Oh. My. God. I smile. She's in my group!!! I'll get to see her every day during study hall! Maybe half the time for lunch. Oh my god! Internally, I'm jumping up and down, doing a little happy dance.
Oh. But, what about Liz? Now she's all alone...
