Chapter 186: This Time For Sure!

Holding the magic sword, Adam positioned himself to receive Arthur's sword.

"Ready?" [Arthur]

"Ready." [Adam]

As soon as that word exited his mouth, Arthur slashed vertically at Adam.

("It's fast!") [Adam]

Adam raised his sword at an angle, allowing him to deflect Arthur's attack.

"Phew… I guess it worked." [Adam]

Adam seemed satisfied with the result, but Arthur still felt a bit unhappy.

"...You're supposed to test the toughness. Take the hit head on like a man." [Arthur]

"Hey, a woman can take a hit head on too." [Adam]

Arthur looked at Adam with the most confused face he had made.

"What in the gods' name are you talking about? How about you shut up with your bullshit and get ready?" [Arthur]

Assuming that Adam was going to go along with it, Arthur readied his blade.

("...He's really salty, huh.") [Adam]

Letting out a sigh, Adam got into a defensive stance.

"Alright, come at me." [Adam]

Without a word, Arthur leapt at Adam and did another vertical slash.

("Here we go!") [Adam]

Raising his blade, Adam took the brunt of the force.

"Urgh!" [Adam]

("It's actually heavy!") [Adam]

He flexed his muscles under the pressure. It felt like his blood rushed to his head, but it subsided after Arthur lifted his sword.

"...I guess it can withstand an ethereal blade." [Arthur]

Listening as Arthur spoke, Adam tried to catch his breath.

"You know, you hit really hard for someone with one arm." [Adam]

Arthur shrugged.

"When you have one arm, you don't have to work out the other one." [Arthur]

"I guess that kinda makes sense." [Adam]

Adam inspected his own blade, checking for any chips in the edges.

"...Surprising." [Adam]

"What is?" [Arthur]

"The sword didn't take any damage." [Adam]

Arthur gave him another unhappy look.

"Shut up, genius. Let's go." [Arthur]

"...Alright." [Adam]

Following Arthur, it was time for Adam to face Typhon once again.

"How far you have fallen, Arthur." [Typhon]

Hearing that same line over and over again, Adam snapped.

("Yeah, I'm going to skip the dialogue.") [Adam]

Rushing forward, he pulled out his magic sword.

"Adam?!" [Arthur]

Adam slashed at Typhon, expecting him to either dodge or cut down where he stood. However, reality was different.

"Huh?!" [Adam]

Typhon had caught Adam's blade with his bare hand.

"This…! Let go!" [Adam]

He attempted to pull the sword out, but it didn't budge.

"Arthur, it appears you don't have a discerning eye for companions." [Typhon]

("Damn it, Adam!") [Arthur]

Feeling a rush of urgency, Arthur charged forward while mumbling something.

"Letossa Navaire! Holy Chains!" [Arthur]

White chains erupted from Typhon's feet, wrapping his legs and keeping him in place.

"Now, Adam!" [Arthur]

Heeding his words, Adam made his sword vanish.

"It's gone?! I didn't sense any mana-" [Typhon]

Interrupting his words, Typhon took a punch to the face.

"Urgh!" [Typhon]

"How's that?" [Adam]

Typhon attempted to shift his body to block as Adam rained down punches and kicks, but the white chains kept him from moving.

"This child…!" [Typhon]

Angered and frustrated, Typhon grabbed the white chains.

"Back away!" [Arthur]

"I know!" [Adam]

Adam retreated, allowing him to avoid the shrapnel created from Typhon breaking the chains.

"I won't let you escape." [Typhon]

Within an instant, he appeared before Adam.

"Die." [Typhon]

Raising a fist, his arm set itself ablaze.

("Oh, shit.") [Adam]

Reacting faster than he had ever done before, Adam ducked beneath Typhon's punch and countered with an uppercut.

"Urk!" [Typhon]

Adam didn't stop there. He continued to throw punches, eventually pushing Typhon back up the stairs.

"Urgh!" [Typhon]

Stumbling over the steps, he regained his footing.

"...It seems I have misjudged you, child." [Typhon]

Glancing between Adam and Arthur, Typhon rubbed his chin.

"I will give you two a chance. Return to your cells, or perish." [Typhon]

Without even thinking, Adam closed the distance between himself and Typhon.

"Nah." [Adam]

Moving before Typhon could react, Adam summoned his magic sword.

"This time, it's my win." [Adam]
