Chapter 3: Quest!

The other day, Jun arrived at Axel. Encountering the main characters of this world (and getting a stomach ache from holding his laughter in), He decides to find a place to stay for the time being. Today he's going back to the Adventurer's Guild to formally register as an adventurer.

Jun: Okay... Those two don't seem to be around here. I should register now.

Jun walks up to the registration desk and calls for the receptionist.

Jun: Hello. I'd like to register as an adventurer please.

Receptionist: Hello, certainly sir. Please place your hand over this crystal... Uhm, sir? Is anything wrong?

Jun: (Damn, those are big... Wonder how it feels to hold those in my hands...)

(A/N: ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°))

Receptionist: Sir?

Jun: Hmm? Oh right, so I'll just place my hand over here?

Receptionist: Yes, and please wait for a few minutes as this crystal then records your status in the card. This card will also automatically keep a record of how many monsters you have vanquished. As your level rises, you'll earn points that you'll need for learning skills, and the skills will be related to a specific occupation. Although there's no rule for not learning other occupation's skills, I would advice you to choose an occupation and focus on that occupation's skills. This is just my advice though...

Jun: Yes, that's just fine. I appreciate your concern. (Though I think I'll be a mix of an long-range/melee/magician, just to be versatile enough for whatever situation I'll encounter during my quests.)

Receptionist: Yes! Thank you for waiting. Jun-san, is it? Average in INT and ACC, above average in the STR, AGI, and DEX, oh my! You have high LUC stats! With this luck I'd suggest to be a merchant, but you would also do fine as a swordsman.

(A/N: I'll be shortening the stats. I'm just too lazy to write the full words ¯\_(ツ)_/¯)

Jun: Hmm... Yes, please make my occupation as an adventurer.

Receptionist: E-ehh!? A-are you sure that's the occupation that you want?

Jun: Yes. I've made my decision. And I'd like to accept a quest. Would that be fine?

Receptionist: Y-yes. Please check the quest board for available quests and once you've chosen, please bring them here to the desk for confirmation.

Jun: Will do.

Jun then heads over to the quest board and looks for a suitable quest.

Jun: Hmm... Quite a few good starter quests here... Oh? This one looks familiar. "Crusade Mission: Crusade 5 giant frogs within 3 days". Hahaha! Now that I remember it, this was the first official quest of those two. Alright, I choose this one.

Jun picks the quest paper and brings it over to the admission desk

Jun: Miss Receptionist, I'll choose this for my first quest. Please confirm if it's ok.

Receptionist: Ok Jun-san. Hmm...Yes no problems here. Also I'd like to remind you that if you fail this quest or if you exceed the time limit, you'll have to pay a penalty fee.

Jun: Ehh really?

Receptionist: (smiles wryly) Yes. As a guild, we have to make sure that the services that we offer are up to the standards of our costumers, and reimburse them for any failure so as to not lose their trust in us.

Jun: Hmm, understood. Well then, I'm off, uhh-

Receptionist: Fufu~ you can call me Luna, Jun-san.

Jun: Ok, Luna-san. I'll see you later.

Luna: Please take care and I wish you good luck in your quest!

Jun comes out of the guild and prepares for his quest.

Jun: Hmm.. I have quite a few skill points to spend. I'll have to learn [Snipe], [Farsight], [One-handed Sword Mastery], and [Charge]. Those should do for now. Yosh! I'm fired up! Or not... Well, let's do this.

Jun heads out of Axel and rides [Fenrir] to an area that the giant frogs frequent. And now that its their breeding season, He has more than enough for his target practice.

Jun: Ok... I should ready my weapon. Hmm... I'll keep [Barbatos] as a trump card when things get ugly. I should use the [Archer's Bow] and [Caladbolg II] to train my [snipe], [One-handed Sword Mastery], and [Charge]. Alpha please analyze and display the information of the bow and sword.

<Alpha>: Understood Jun. Analyzing...Done. Displaying information.

---------------------------------------------------

(A/N: I have a perfectly good reason for using such weapons. First is I'm a FATE fan. That's why as we go on, you'll definitely find more and more weapons related to the FATE series popping up later. Two, I like playing games with a character using long range weaponry(Except for throwing stuff like javelines). One thing you'll also notice is the weird weapon choices that I'll have the MC make. And I like to cook so I just gave MC a max cooking skill. I'll have you also know that I like to play games while not following the meta of the game. I mean, it's not like I'm being a bit overdramatic, but playing games by not following the norm or looking for unique combinations seem more fun for me rather than following what everyone's build is. Again this is just my tastes in games. That's enough of my bitching, enjoy!)

---------------------------------------------------

Jun: Hmm... These are pretty good. Not too powerful and once I improve in my strength, I'll be able to remove the seals.

<Alpha>: Jun is correct. Alpha will also explain a bit about the grades.

Jun: Sure go ahead.

<Alpha>: The system has chosen to use a grading system instead on using numbers for the abilities of the weapons as it will make it easier for you to compare them with each other. The grading system will take your current strength as a base for grading equipment and items, and as such, the grades of the equipment and items will change periodically in accordance with your growth. The same will also apply to your enemies as with the [Analysis: Max] The system can make an accurate judgment of how powerful your opponent/s are compared to your current overall stats. Though as Alpha said yesterday, Jun can still defeat stronger enemies by training your skills/magic and having enough experience in fighting.

Jun: Ok... I think I get it. So put simply, The higher the grade of a weapon/armor/item, means that I can dish out high damage or the defense of my armor can stop an anti-material rifle, and the item will give me a huge boost in my stats. Am I correct so far?

<Alpha>: Yes.

Jun: And, when the grade of the equipment/item drops, That means that my stats have reached the level of damage the weapon can give or the defense the armor has, and regarding items, that their effects will only give me a minimal to no enhancement to my stats?

<Alpha>: Correct.

Jun: What about the damage calculation for my enemies then? For example, my weapon has damage at the rank of A, and then I encounter an enemy that ranks S. Do my attacks still work or bounce off?

<Alpha>: Regarding that problem, The world's laws will come into play.

Jun: Laws?

<Alpha>: Yes. Since most of your weapons/armor/items/skills/magic are not from this world, They have lost half of their powers through the world laws. But these still have their own law attached to them. The descriptions that can be read on them represents how the people viewed them in their respective worlds, and as such, will still affect how they interact with this world.

Jun: Hmm... I still don't understand it. Eh, I'll leave it for the future. Now then, this should be a good area to start. [Scan]

[23 threats found]

Jun: Humu, there's a lot of them. There's one 500 meters in the East, the closest to my position. Now then, let's try [Snipe] first.

Jun readies his bow and attaches [Caladbolg II] on the string, then pulls back until the bow became like a waning moon. [Caladbolg II] also became an arrow with a red hue surrounding it. Breathing in, he positions his aim to the Giant Frog. Breathing out he releases the arrow.

Jun: (Breathes in)...Fuuu~. Caladbolg.

(thwack)(Swoosh!)

The arrow streaks across the field in a red line, and after reaching its target, caused Jun to have sweat drops in his forehead after seeing the damage done.

(Schlick)(Splurt)

The arrow continued on a good distance away, while the Giant Frog...well, let's just say that it became an art piece at the location it was at.

Jun: Uwaah~ That's pretty powerful alright. With the effects of [Snipe] and the ability [Impact] of Caladbolg, I just made a huge mess. Welp, on to the next one.

[Impact]

Description: Releases a shockwave from the point of contact once Caladbolg hits its target

Jun proceeds to the next Giant Frog and decides to just use [Caladbolg II] in its sword form. With the sword looking more like a lance due to its spiral structure, Jun prepares to charge at the target.

Jun: Ok, now let's try the combo of [Caladbolg II] with [Charge]. Hmm...Alpha can I turn of the ability [Impact] of Caladbolg?

<Alpha>: Yes Jun, you can.

Jun turns of the ability and takes a stance. He bends his back forward until he looks like he's crouching. Taking a deep breath, he activates the skill [Charge] and takes a running start until he builds up speed.

(A/N: For reference you can search on YouTube "sword art online II - asuna berserk skill")

Jun: Haaaa.... Here we GO!

Jun dived at the last moment, creating a sharp wind shaped like a V with his charge. He built so much momentum that he slightly lost control of his trajectory, passing by the Giant Frog. After losing speed, he regained his balance by stabbing Caladbolg to the ground to break his momentum and finally stop his charge.

Jun: Haaa~ Well, that was more exercise then what I did my entire life. Now then, let's take a look see on...what...happened...The heck!?

After turning around and looking at the Giant Frog, he saw that it had been bisected in two horizontally with it's right side looking like it had been bitten off.

Jun: That's pretty lit. If the accompanying wind can do this much damage, then if I didn't stray of my trajectory I would've pierced through the Giant Frog. And...Eww~ blood, innards, entrails...Good thing I shifted a bit. All in all, I have pretty good damage regardless of range. Now for magic. Alpha please integrate [Sky Dragon Slayer Magic].

<Alpha>: Understood. To integrate [Sky Dragon Slayer Magic], a sky dragon Lacrima will form in your body and the knowledge of preset moves will be directly integrated to Jun's mind, becoming something akin to muscle memory. There will be no side effects as everything obtained through the system will have little to no side-effects for Jun.

Jun: Oh? That's good then...Please begin.

Jun feels that something started to gather beside his heart. It didn't take up space as it is completely conceptual. After it finishes forming a cool sensation circulates through Jun's entire body. Knowledge about the magic then started flowing through his brain.

Jun: Fuuuu~ This feels amazing.

{[Sky Dragon Slayer Magic] successfully integrated and learned. +50 to INT stat}

Jun: Hmm? That's a pleasant surprise. Now I can ride [Fenrir] much further without breaks in between. Anyways, lemme try the signature move of all dragon slayers. Ooh~ perfect, they actually huddled together. Now...Haa...[Sky Dragon's...](Inhales)

Jun inhales air to the point that his chest bulges by 2 inches. What happened next changed the landscape in line with Jun's attack.

Jun: [ROOOAAR!]

From Jun's mouth, he unleashes a huge tornado that ravaged the land in it's way. He quickly notices this and points his roar upwards to lessen the damage of his attack towards the land.

Jun: Whew... Another trump card get! But what should I do with this mess? Meh, I'll just say that a freak tornado went through the area. (Whistle~🎶)

------------------------------------------------

A few weeks passed since that incident. Jun managed to level up 3 times and became a C-rank Adventurer and amassed quite a fortune thanks to him completing all of his quests with 0% failure rate, and with almost all of his subjugation quests ending up with his targets being pierced, he earned the nickname "Bedhanevaala" which directly translates to "Piercer". While Jun gets to enjoy his adventurer routine, a pair of boy and girl works their ass off in the construction site outside of the city.
