Chapter 44: battlefield
AT DOWNTOWN REGION STORE
Becky is roaming in the store with cart. She has already collected everything except her snacks. She turns towards the snack counter and sees only one packet left of strawberry chocolate chips. Then she sees a man on her right corner. He is also looking at the last packet. They both look at each other, then the packet then each other again the packet. She smiles at him. – Tries to pretend as lovely as possible.
He narrows his eyes. Looks are not going to work on him. It's not just a store now, it's a battlefield. They both runs towards the packet leaving their carts carelessly. They both are taking long strides. One step ahead and looks at each other, then their destination. The treasure is only four steps away from them. Becky sees another cart in her way. She swiftly moves the cart to his side. He carefully passes by the cart without reducing his speed. Everything in their background changes. Red and orange sky, uneven path full of hurdles. They are left alone in this race. Just a step left now, Becky tries to push him aside but miserably fails. They both grab the packet at the same time and Becky trips. Both falls on the ground.
Becky is on him now still grabbing the packet above his head. He is not going to give up too. One side of packet is also in his hand.
They both struggle to free the packet from each other's hands. His grip is strong. He is a man she can't lose to him.
"Leave the packet! I saw it first." She says while struggling
"You leave the packet, I grab it first."
"You tripped me!"
"You cheated!"
"I didn't."
"You used the cart to block me."
"I was just clearing my way."
