It was late afternoon on Saturday, when Carson finally awoke. 'I have not slept this good in years' he thought to himself as he slowly turned his gaze down to the woman who was tangled within his arms.
He felt like a new sense was reawakened within him. He never wanted to let it go. Looking down at the woman beside him, he noticed that as she slept, she was hauntingly still. The only movement she made was the slight rise and fall of her chest.
It was hard to imagine that this was the same girl that lived so many lives, and had such a taxing job. In sleep she was angelic, her face as fresh as a dew drop and her skin so delicate and smooth.
I want this every morning. Carson sighed gently at the thought. The sigh was like a slight spring breeze, soft, and gentle, lost in his untamable thoughts. Carson decided to carefully untangle Lillie's arms and legs off of his own.
When he arose from the bed, and was about to open the door, he made one last glance over his shoulder. His mind seemed to memorize every detail, every single line and curve of Lillie's silhouette still laying on the bed. She was so simply extravagant, he thought that he would need lifetimes to describe it. And with that last thought, he walked out through the bedroom door.
———
The warmth that I felt, while I was sleeping was no longer present. I felt cold. The type of coldness that reached deeply into my bones, and misused my heart. It was as if my heart were a door that was left bare and stripped against the harshness of the icy wind that beat against it.
I felt so cold and alone.
My eyelids fluttered open when I realized the cause of my coldness. The pillow I was grasping tightly within my arms was not a person that I had dreamt it was. It had to be real though. Last night was so magical, that for a split second, I thought that maybe it really was just a dream.
I disregarded that thought due to the familiar scent that filled my nose as I took in a desperate breath. It smelled of cedar wood and pine. Yet somehow sweet? I didn't care, as long as it wasn't a dream. This was Carsons scent, and I knew it.
I stood up, and decided to head downstairs. When I opened the bedroom door, a second blast of a pleasant aroma hit my nose. It tickled my nostrils asking for entrance and I eagerly accepted. The air was more delicious than any flavor. I travelled into the kitchen, and saw an impressive array of different foods.
"I didn't know what you wanted for breakfast, so I made everything", he said with a cheeky grin. I gave him a small grin in return, and hoped he didn't notice as I was trying to contain the drool that was forming now from how good the food looked.
I sat down at the table while grabbing bacon, eggs, and pancakes on my way. I drizzled the pancakes with syrup, and eggs with ketchup. I began stuffing my mouth with everything on my plate. I completely forgot my manners in that moment, too engulfed within the powerful flavors of the food before me.
———
Lillie pushed her legs forward, leaning back against her chair, moving away from the table. She had one hand on her stomach, while the other gently patting it, to give some sort of comfort from the overfilled stomach. I sit next to her while I eat, and realize her eyes glaze over.
She stares down at my food, and I realize she is in an internal conflict of whether or not she was going to continue to keep eating, even though she was already filled to the brim. Eventually, not eating more, won the battle. I laugh at her, and she gives me a small playful glare because she realizes that she could barely move.
I look more closely and see that she still has some syrup on her face. I slowly reach over with my thumb to wipe off what was remaining from the corner of her mouth. This intense emotion filled my body and almost took my breathe away, just from the single touch of her skin. I pull back and try to continue eating.
———
Lillie remains ever so still. Her face became so explosively red hot like flames rising from a fire. Crackling hot, burning her cheeks. With an unfelt energy, she bolts out of the room and into the living room.
———
Carson looked at the back of a running figure, and chuckled to himself. He somehow forgot to think of this conclusion. He rose from the table and headed to the living room. After hearing last night that Lillie felt that she was going to reincarnate soon, he wanted to spend as much time with her as possible.
He entered the living room to find Lillie staring blankly at the ceiling."You should go get ready", he stated firmly but with a hint of playfulness. Lillie sat up as she asked, "I should what?"
"I'm taking you on a date today, Lillie".
———
Lillie was frozen. Her dead heart pounding in her chest. "Okay" she whispered. In a daze Lillie went up the stairs and got ready for their date. She decided to go casual, but as she went to put her hair up into a ponytail, her hands started to shake.
The excitement was coursing through her body. As she came to the conclusion to leave her hair down, she made her way down the stairs. Carson was sitting on the edge of the couch waiting for her, and he stood up as Lillie walked up right next to him.
Laid out before her was a picnic basket and a blanket. Lillie cheekily smiled, loving that their first date was a picnic. They grabbed their items, and made their way outside the house. They headed to the nearest park and went to a more secluded area.
They found a nice spot to sit in the grass and eat their food. They mainly just talked and enjoyed one another's company, due to the fact breakfast was not long ago.
The date went perfect. Everything was great. They decided to take a stroll through the nearby forest, and once tired, they found a park bench to sit on. They looked above them, and stared at the vast trees. They were like clouds of green, all connecting together, and meeting one another.
They looked as if they were creating a tunnel for them to enter through and never come out from. They felt as if they were the only two in this vast forest, and this thought comforted them. However, this moment was shortly lasted. While they sat and talked, they noticed a woman walking by, heading for the bench.
The lady sat down, and she sat so close to where Carson sat, that jealousy spiked within Lillie. This girl was practically a hairs width away. Carson cracked a smile at her, "your the only girl for me" he whispered. Lillie grabbed Carson's arm, and practically dragged him for 'another walk'.
Through the forest, Carson noticed the most beautiful field of flowers. He guided Lillie towards the field, and saw a patch of lilies. Carson found it funny and picked one of them, and tucked it behind one of Lillie's ears.
Carson picked enough flowers throughout this field to create a bouquet for Lillie, and held them for her while they walked back to her house. They finally came across the cross walk that was right by Lillie's house but realized that they had three seconds left.
They both went to run across, and as they did, Carson dropped one of the flowers that he was holding within his hand. Lillie made her way across, just now realizing Carson was bent over reaching for the fallen flower. The seconds ticked away moments ago, and the cars were starting to drive.
Lillie screamed at Carson. The screams rose within her, threatening her very being. Time went slow. Screaming tore through her like shards of glass. Her eyes widened, pulse quickening, and her fists clenched.
"CARSON!"
