Chapter 13: Chapter 13: Kattegat

A few months later...

After we started our journey from the village, we made our way through the lands, passing by many more in search of adventures. Along the way, I also taught Lief and Erik how to fight better, and they have come a long way from the rough techniques they had in the beginning. Lief took to swordsmanship like a fish in water, now able to best many a foe on his lonesome, and while Erik may not be as good as his brother in swordsmanship, he made up for it with his ridiculous accuracy with a bow.

(Third POV)

Three men could be seen walking down the dirt road leisurely while chatting with each other and laughing. Lief and Erik were walking to the left and right while Ace was in the middle as they looked for their next destination and, hopefully, some fun.

"Ughhhh, it has been days! When are we going to get to the next village!?" Erik complained, ever the drama queen.

"Calm down, brother; I am sure the Lord has an approximate distance till the next destination," Lief replied, continuing to walk without caring for his brother's dramatics.

"Lief is right; we should be a day walk out now; there is a decent-sized fishing town straight ahead, which we should reach tomorrow morning if we make haste," Ace replied calmly, seeing the town in the distance from the eyes of a bird flying in the sky above their heads.

"So far, I miss having a good bed to lay in and a woman to bed," Erik said, wiping fake tears from his eyes as he reminisced his memories.

"Tch shut it and continue walking; you've already had women from every village or town we stopped at; at this rate, you will just have a bunch of bastards running around," Lief growled back at his brother.

"Great, just what we need, more Eriks running around in the world," Ace replied sarcastically, rolling his eyes.

"Hey! What is that supposed to mean, Lord? I will have you know that my children will do great things!" Erik said with a harrumph

The three continued to bicker with each other as they made their way to their destination in the distance.

With the sun rising the following day, The group of three found their way to their destination, a bustling fishing town Where Jarl Haraldson and his band of Vikings reside. Walking into the city, the three observed their surroundings, taking in all the sights.

In a hut tucked away in the middle of the town, hidden from those who do not actively seek it, a pale man with his eyes stitched closed suddenly sat up and turned his head to where the window was as if looking into the distance. "So, He has come. I wonder what the gods have in store that they brought that monster here," he mumbled before laying back down.

(Ace POV)

As I walked through the town, I always thought that the scene was familiar, but I couldn't place where I would have seen it before, 'Maybe it's just my mind,' I thought to myself as I continued to walk. As I turned a corner, I felt something bump into me; looking down, I saw a head of dirty blond hair tied into braids.

"I am guessing something important must be happening for you to be rushing through the town like that," I said, looking down at the person who heard my voice—then looked up at me, leaving me stunned. I saw a girl about 15 or 16 with sapphire blue eyes and beautiful pink lips staring back at me. What stunned me was not that she was beautiful but that I recognized who she was even though she looked younger; I could not be mistaken.

To confirm my theory, I introduced myself, "I am sorry for starting love; I am Ace Mikaelson, son of Mikael." I said, stretching out my hand. I watched as she momentarily looked at my outstretched hand as if pondering if to introduce herself back, but in the end, she took it and said, " I am Lagertha Olsen, daughter of Hagen Olsen." As she took my hand, I felt her softness and warmth, her eyes continuously drawing me into them.

"Well then, Lagertha, I assume with the fact that you were hurrying earlier that you have something important to do, so I will not keep you, but I do hope to see you later," I told her, taking the back of her hand and kissing her on her knuckles then continuing on my way down the pathway leaving a stunned Lagertha in place.

(Lagetha POV)

I was running down the pathways through the village because I needed to get medicine from the healer for my mother, as the cold nights had been taking their toll on her health. When I reached a corner, without being careful where I was going, I bumped into something solid, or I should say someone dependable, as shortly after, I heard the person speak.

"I am guessing something important must be happening for you to rush through the town like that." I heard a magnetic voice coming from the person before me; I looked up. I saw a handsome boy about my age, with dirty blonde hair to match my own and a pair of blue-green eyes that seemed to see through everything within their sight; he had a well-built body and good height with a sword on his back, so he is a warrior.

He and I stood there staring at each other for a moment before I heard him speak again, this time with him introducing who he was.

"I am sorry for starting love; I am Ace Mikaelson, son of Mikael," he said as he stretched out his hand towards me, but I got sidetracked for a moment, quickly going through my memories to see if I had ever heard of that family name or a warrior by that name yet nothing came to my mind. Hence, I just decided to introduce myself in return. "I am Lagertha Olsen, daughter of Hagen Olsen," I replied, taking his outstretched hand.

As my hand touched his, I felt the warmth from his hands and a tingling sensation that made me feel good, but I could not explain why. Standing there, lost in my thoughts, his words brought me back to my senses.

"Well then, Lagertha, I assume with the fact that you were hurrying earlier that you have something important to do, so I will not keep you, but I do hope to see you later," he said as he kissed my knuckles, which left me stunned once again, this has never happened before. Sure, men have tried to woo me back, but they always do it by either boasting about their feats on raids or how good of a lover they would be in bed.

This was different; a man who was not overbearing or exaggerating his prowess yet walked and spoke with confidence like everything was under his control. I turned my head to look at him, walking away into the distance as I made up my mind that I had to meet him again.
