Chapter 3: Corpse Walker and Power - Chapter 3

Aron did not need to think much about which kind of path he was going to choose.

It was clear that Legendary Watcher, or Existence Path, suited him best. It is noted in the book that it is the hardest path to go down, but in the end, Aron is not afraid.

"The existence path, according to the book, requires two things: wisdom and spiritual improvement."

"The more wisdom and knowledge one has, the more power and abilities he will gain. With my scanning ability, the knowledge I will accumulate will be enough for me to keep improving."

As Aron thought about these things, the voice in his head spoke.

"The things that were explored via the "Scan" ability will be stored in the memory of the user and will not be forgotten."

Aron got up from his bed as he heard the voice.

"Why did you not tell me about something this important?"

He asked; his voice was agitated, and his face was ugly.

The voice answered.

"User choosing the Path of Existence triggered this new ability; please use it on the books you have, and you will understand.

Aron let out a cold breath and calmed himself down. There is no need to argue with the voice, he thought.

He looked at the three books and used his scanning ability on them.

------------

"Ding"

------------

"Magic and Mystery: Scanned (Information Gathered)"

------------

"Organizations and Empires: Scanned (Information Gathered)"

------------

"Beast Collection: Scanned (Information Gathered)"

------------

Aron touched his as he felt dizzy and then took a deep breath.

"This..."

"This is awesome!"

Aron noticed that he knows many things; as long as he wills, he will know everything in the books.

"This ability is suited for Existence Path."

Aron knew that what he had chosen was a good path for himself. All things considered, he believed his decision to be right.

As he kept thinking, he heard a shout from outside. It sounded like Margan was shouting.

"Aaaaaaaaah !!"

Aron got up quickly and left the tent for the first time. He noticed quickly that they were on some grassland, and he could see there were some trees around, and it was night time.

He then scanned his surroundings and noticed Margan.

"That is?"

Aron gulped and saw that Margan was fighting with some sort of creature.

From every point of view, it looked like a zombie from the movies he watched on Earth.

He quickly used his scanning ability.

------------

"Corpse Walker"

"Level 1"

"Undead"

"Mindless (resistant to mind and soul attacks, cannot feel pain, moves with the desire to consume living)"

------------

Aron calmed himself and watched quietly.

Margan gripped his battleaxe, his eyes fixed on the approaching Corpse Walker creature.

Its movements were sluggish, but the stench of decay hung in the air.

Without hesitation, Margan lunged forward, the battleaxe cleaving through the foul air with a swift arc.

Aron commented within his mind.

"He is experienced fighting against these kinds of creatures."

The blade connected with the creature's torso, cutting through rotting flesh and bone.

A sickening crunch echoed as the zombie stumbled backward, momentarily halted by the force of the blow.

Margan, undeterred, swiftly swung the battleaxe again, this time aiming for the creature's neck.

"Die! You wretched being."

Margan shouted as he cut the head of the creature, and its body dropped down afterward.

"Huh, the numbers of them are increasing."

At that time, Elisie came forward and looked at Margan for one second, then looked at Aron as she spoke with dissatisfaction in her eyes.

"So, you only know how to watch while my husband protects you."

Aron took a deep breath and smiled as he commented.

"It seems like I need to leave this place."

After Elisie said her words, she went running to the side of Margan and asked.

"Did you get hurt, my dear?"

Margan shook his head and held the hands of his wife as he smiled.

"I am fine; you can't blame Aron for not helping me out. He is still confused."

Elisie shook her head, and her eyes were getting a little watery.

"I am scared of losing you."

Margan took a deep breath and hugged Elisie to calm herself down.

Aron then whispered.

"The Voice, how can I start the path of existence for real? I need power."

Seconds later, the voice answered.

"The information is in your head; it is simple to start, just hard to learn for most people."

Aron then closed his eyes for a second, and he knew what he needed to do to start his path to become strong enough to protect himself, at the very least.
