Chapter 175: Extra: Eclipsed Realms VRMMO

So, this isn't part of Lost: To Be Found, but is instead a teaser/ preview of the second novel I've started working on. Sorry for including it as part of LTBF's chapters, but it was kinda hard for me to find how else to do this for a couple reasons. I hope this is ok and I don't plan to make a habit of this. Anyway, for more info feel free to read the author's note and I'll happily respond to questions in the comments. And I hope you enjoy this small change of pace. LTBF chapters will resume after this, so no worries.

Soooo, yeah. It's pretty different huh? It's not that I plan for this novel to be a comedy either, but there is a lightheartedness and self referential humour that I want to use that is far easier to use in this kind of setting.

Now, why is it a lit rpg? Wellll, mostly because it's the webnovel equivalent of comfort food. Lost: To Be Found was written to be more akin to a fantasy epic and it is most closely inspired by novels like "Under the Oak Tree," "Heaven, Earth, Me," and "Mistress I Was Wrong."

On the other hand, Eclispsed Realms is more inspired by novels like "Trouble With Horns" and "After Being Bent By Reader." That isn't to say those are the exlusive inspirations for me, but they certainly stand out.

In case it wasn't obvious, Eclipsed Realms is planned to be a utopian/ distopian future where normalcy is all that matters, government and business reign supreme, and people's only escape and place to be themselves is in the vr pods everyone has access to. It is planned to have two halves: the first is the vr setting, a grimdark fantasy rpg, while the second part will be reality, a soul draining mandatory office worker life.

While these two aspects of the story will have different focusses in some ways, overarching themes will be shared. The lead character (both trans and lesbian) will be free to be herself in vr but reality's constraints will deny her that freedom and force her to grapple with her own identity and place in an uncaring world. The other focus that will be shared between both parts of the story is the romantic interest: a woman who will join Sasha in VR but also will turn out to be her own boss at work.

I hope that I can write a story with exciting adventure as well as a gripping relationship. The intent is to have there be more complexity to the relationship and its development and to have a larger focus on building the relationship as opposed to Lost: To Be Found's much faster paced and unwavering love. In that, I wanted the relationship to be very quickly formed because I wanted Dahlia to be truly happy and find her place quickly. For Eclipsed Realms, I want to focus more and the complexities of people and their relationships. (Please wish me luck).

Anyway... this is what I've been working on when I want to write but get writers block. I highly doubt I'll properly release more chapters of this any time soon, but it's still something I'm excited about and wanted to share. And if you have any questions, I'd love to answer! (Hell, even if it's a question about Lost: To Be Found, I'm always happy to answer).

So, yeah, I hope you enjoyed! And as always, I hope you're having a wonderful day!
