Chapter 3: THREE
"Where and how did you find her.???"
Jake asked . concern .surprise. pity. anger. anxiety . everything evident on his face.
"Actually we didn't find her . We did everything, searched everywhere but it felt like she had just disappeared from the phase of the earth.
But then almost a month later, one morning, my cousin who used to live at the pack boarders informed us that while patrolling they found a body which looked like ana's." Becca replied. Stopping for a second , she continued,
" dad went to check and confirmed that's her. Dad himself was a doc , brought her home and treated all her wounds and brought her to consciousness. We tried to talk to her but she wouldn't. So we could only watch. " Becca said remembering those days.
"W-what kinds of wounds were there on her body?" hesitantly Jake asked.
" I haven't seen from my own eyes but I did hear my dad talking to mom about it. he said that it seemed like someone has made cuts purposely and beat her with long heavy rods. there were burnt marks too. Many of her bones were fractured too." Becca shivered herself while speaking.
Jake was livid by now. " who? who did it? " his voice was hoarse eyes red as he spoke. He wanted to know who tortured his mate like that.
By now even Noah was angry too.
"We dont know ." becca replied.
" what do you mean by you dont know ?" Noah asked instantly.
"Meaning we actually dont know and by all the scenarios in front of is we could only guess that,She was kidnapped and tortured but some how she became successful in escaping. We tried asking her again about the kidnappers but she would just stare at whoever asked. As the days passed by she became calmer but never opened up about the incident. So we thought its better this way, atleast she's calm and healthy. " she said while keeping her eyes on the floor.
"And you guys let the kidnappers live. You let them run freely on the streets. Where you should have found them and give them the worst death possible, you guys didn't even gave an effort to find them ??."
Jake said,his anger rising .
Becca could tell jake was furious. And she understands. Ana's his mate.
"We had no other choice. Ana wouldn't talk anything about it. We couldn't just guess anyone because dad and mum had almost no haters in the pack . And a few who had some problems with dad or mum, well they were checked thoroughly and proved that they weren't guilty. And Ana or me , we didn't had either, because we were just in schools, eighth grade and tenth grade. And whatever haters we had in schools they were checked too. But nothing.
Secondly we let it go because Ana was calmer. We didn't want to have her all alerted and scared. So we stopped bringing up that matter. We cared more for Ana rather that those fuckers."
Becca said trying to reason him and calm his anger.
"You cared more for Ana?? With them still out there?? What if they came again for Ana?? What would you do then??? "
Jake was real furious now.
But to this Becca just simply took a deep breath and straightened her shoulders.
She wanted to say That has been somewhat taken care of long ago .
But she stopped herself before she could say anything rather she said,
"But they haven't. If they come now then you are there to protect her,her mate. Secondly at that time Ana or me were young and naive. Its different now . She is not fourteen anymore and I'm strong enough to fight for her too if needed . "
Noah who was sitting there and observing her could see she was trying to avoid talking about something. it was evident by the movement in her eyes.
Suddenly there was silence. No one spoke anything. This gave Jake time to think whatever she said.
Ana went missing when she was just fourteen. Found but she had changed. Wounds and Scars . Didn't talk much. Scared . Kidnapped. Tortured. Insomniac . but question was why?
While Jake's mind was taking in all the new news Noah had his sharp eyes on Becca . He noticed she wanted to say something more but she stopped so to dig more he asked.
" how did your parents die?? And why dont your alpha knows about this incident?"
Becca had already anticipated this question. She previously wanted to avoid talking more but then she changed her mind .She actually wanted to say out all but she feared for her sister, one mistake and everything done uptill now will be down in vain . She wanted to protect her sister but she was herself only left. she said to herself ' its okay Bec its her mate he can protect her better,right?' .
She stared at Noah and Jake straight for a minute, making them wonder what she was thinking and then concentrated on hearing the heart beats more than three. When she found none she sighed.
"In a car accident. parents died in an accident. and alpha doesnt knows because we are originally not from this pack." Becca said while thinking something. she made a plan to say everything then.
When both men heard what she said they frowned and exchanged a look. understanding there confusion Becca continued.
" Evening blood. Have you ever heard this name?" she asked
frown between their eyebrows deepened as they nodded.
" Yeah . A legendary pack in the north that suddenly perished in forest fire years ago and no one survived the fire." Noah spoke earning a sneer from Becca.
" Forest fire? It wasn't a forest fire. It was a well planned fire. And even though it is said that no one survived but in reality few did escape and in those few our family was one ."
" So you are saying, that you are from that legendary pack called Evening blood. But why you hid it?" Jake shot.
" After Ana came back' weeks later weird shits started happening. Like we were followed by some unknown people. strangers were seen on the pack grounds. those weird calls . Dad tightened the security but it only worsened ,we were attacked several times. We guessed a little late that these attacks were for Ana. Someone wanted Ana dead. " Jake became livid as he heard the last sentence.
stopping for seconds she took deep breaths and continued, "When .....when the fire happened , my real parents died where as me and Ana were saved on time by our aunt . My cousin who found ana aka my aunt's son died while saving his dad, mine and ana's uncle. When we escaped it was just us four left, me , ana ,aunt and uncle. We fled to uncle's friends pack ,the River side pack. We hid there for sometime. Uncle secretly investigated ,found that fire was actually to kill Ana . So to not be found by our attackers we changed our names and identity. So whom you thought as my parents were actually my uncle and aunt, Javed Shekh and Hina Shekh." a tear slipped her eyes as she recounted everything.
she took a moment to compose herself. Jake and Noah were starring at her without blinking as if they might miss some thing.
"what's your real name? " Jake asked in anticipation.
" Rabina shekh and your wife was Hidaya shekh. " she replied with a tight lipped smile.
" After that we were always on move we didnt stay at one place for more than a year. because we felt like we'll be found and they will kill us. We moved from pack to pack . changed our names .lived for some time and then moved again . Alpha Ron's pack became our last destination. We lost uncle and aunt in accident ,Ana found Jake . It was only me left now so i left for world tour.
And thats all. All these happenings , her kidnapping ,those attacks, fire ,accident traumatized her too much. It came one after the other now she,s left with only bad memories and nightmares. "
After speaking she sighed . she felt light a little . She stood and left the guys pondering on whole story while she went to get refills for the drink. she desperately needed one.
When she returned both Jake and Noah were still in deep in their thought. Silence was maintained for sometime but then Jake suddenly broke it.
"Who's Eve?"
