Chapter 3: Left alone

"Oh you made a huge mistake Eris." Water splashed over Eris while she put up her arms to protect her face and a smile was spread across her face.

Cashimir quickly took off his clothes and folded them neatly before he jumped into the lake and chased after Eris who was swimming away from him at full speed.

"You have to catch me first!" Her voice made Cashimir smile as he tried to catch up to her but he was far too slow compared to her.

He stopped and swimmed underwater instead. Eris looked around not seeing or hearing him splashing towards her.

"Cashimir?" She called out for him but got no answer. Soon she felt a hand pull in her leg, underwater and she was met with a smirking Cashimir.

She pushed him away then swam upwards again and so did Cashimir as well. She splashed him as well.

"You are so mean! I thought you went and left!" He let out a smile and grabbed her hand, pulling himself closer to her.

"I would never. Not without a word" He smiled as his face moved closer and closer. Eris splash water right at his face.

"Stop making that face, you look so creepy!" Her tone was playful and swam around him then placed her arms around his body.

She rested her chin on his shoulder and slowly relaxed. The playfulness in the air slowly disappeared when Chasimir placed his hands on hers. His touch felt so gentle and loving.

"Eris…" There was that tone again. The same siliance, the same feeling. He turned around and hugged her back. Eris felt how it was hard to breathe. His hands moved around her back.

He played with her hair, his fingers touched her back and eventually began to fiddle with her undergarments. Eris bit her lip and placed her hands on his chest, slowly pulling away but not completely.

"You're hurting me…" Her voice was almost like a whisper. His hands stopped moving and his eyes were filled with worry.

"I'm so sorry…" He moved her hair out of her face but she kept looking down. She felt trapped, lost and confused. But she also felt so much more.

How he touches her is unlike anything else she has felt before. How can he make her feel good yet feel so much pain.

"I don't understand... I don't understand what's going on between you and me" She slowly looked up to meet him in the eye.

The sun made his eyes look so much brighter. It really was a mix between green and blue.

"Eris I…"

"We have known each other for years. We have played together and you are always here for me but… It feels different now. You touch me like never before. And it hurts… Yet it… Doesn't…"

"You look beautiful" The words echoed into her head. It felt unreal. She couldn't believe it.

"You're lying"

"I don't care if the people think otherwise or that you don't agree with me… You are beautiful." Eris shook her head and tried to push him away but this time he held into her.

"Please don't push me away more… Let me love you." She couldn't handle it and with a final hard push he moved away from her. She quickly got out from the lake, picked up her clothes and ran back to her cottage and locked the door.

She closed her eyes and banged her back into the door then slided down on the floor, hugging her clothes that now also got wet. Cashimir didn't come and check on her, he didn't call out for her or knocked on the door. A relief but she wished he did.

"Everything about me… Is so wrong… Oh Granny… I wish you were here…"

Time passed. The sun came up then went down again but Cashimir was nowhere to be seen. Eris kept taking care of her plants all over her home and kept making potions but worry was eating her.

Thoughts about going to the village to see him came up more often but the fear that he wasn't there and the villagers would go at her like hungry wolves scared her more than anything. But she still questioned, what was worse?

Getting beaten up and doing something? Or do nothing and grow old alone, like her Granny almost did. Before Eris there was no one for Granny. Granny told her that love was something she never found nor wanted. But she wanted kids. And it was like fate that she found her and raised her as her own.

Early morning and a knock was heard. It felt like forever since she heard a sound like that. She quickly went to the door and opened it and saw Cashimir. She felt relieved, he didn't leave her after all. But as she observed him she realised why he came back.

His hair was in a braid which he usually avoided, he was wearing pieces of armour, a cape and it was all in white. On his hip rested a beautiful glowing sword which she has only heard about. Theelia's holy sword. The goddess has finally realized that Cashimir is the one, the holy one. The saint.

She should be happy for him but her heart was beating loudly and warmth spread around her body. She took deeper breaths not wanting to lose her cool in front of him. It was a challenge, especially when he didn't seem happy either about becoming the chosen one.

"While walking around the forest, a voice called out to me. The sword was there saying I am the chosen one. That I should now begin my great quest to spread purity and protect everyone." He paused, his hand gripped onto the handle of the sword then he looked down.

"I am honored… The village is throwing a celebration tomorrow when I leave. Can you be there?" His voice was lacking emotion. There was no joy in there, if the villagers heard him right now who knows how they would react. It was the greatest gift a follower of Theelia could ask for.
