"Why would she go back to him even after he gaslighted her a lot. That's why I'll never get into a relationship. It comes with a lot of stress-" "Nyla?" Rae turns back to Nyla not feeling guilty for interrupting her whine. "You'd rather stay at home and wait for a hot guy to be dropped off your front porch while reading romance novels to fill your delusion." Nyla rolls her eyes jokingly "Thanks for reminding me that I don't have a boyfriend". She glances back at her phone for a while before sitting up to defend her point "Why would I want a boyfriend. This is Sophomore year, the best time to improve your college application and we're in this together. We're both hopeless romantic girls" "Pttf. At least I'm not delusional like you" Nyla supposed that was what happens when you sleep over at your best friend's house before a school day: One minute you're arguing over the latest school couples or clutching pillows and giggling over funny tiktok videos. The next you're watching cringe couples videos, romance movies. Having stupid and weird conservations, having concerts till it's almost 1am and we decide to go to bed. "You really got sent to the principles office?" Rae asked surprisingly concerned than how Nyla expected her to be. "He said I should take a new student on a tour around the school " Rae's eyes widen a little "That's a fair take for skipping school with a fake doctor's note. It's actually not a problem" "She has no idea of the doctor note part and I have social anxiety; I don't know which kind of person the new student might be. Maybe a low-key annoying person and-" "Hang on" Rae interrupts her. "Or the person might be a hot dude that decided to transfer to our school for some reasons best known him." They lock eyes with each other and burst into a suppressed laughter not wanting to wake any of Rae's family up. "And you say I'm delusional. I-" "We're both delulu and we're proud of being delulu" "I have no clue about the person. Tomorrow I'll find out". Next day... Nyla ran her hand through her long brown curls hoping it wasn't too messy (it was probably was). She convince herself that the new student was probably a sweet girl who later on be friends with her_and lift her hand to knock on the door to the Principal 's office except the door swings open before she could get to it and she finds herself standing in front . . . . A chest. A tall figure in fact. She manage to shift her gaze and finally noticed the rest: a square jaw and full lips. Short very dark hair and a beautiful brown eyes. She realize those eyes were fixed on her. Studying her with the same avid, confused interest she was experiencing. The boy appears to be unable to look away, as if spellbound at some base, deeply physical level. Which was a relief to Nyla, because she couldn't look away and didn't want to. It was like a slap to her face, because she found him attractive. Rae was surprisingly right about the new student being a hot guy. It cause her brain turn blank and making her forget she was in front of a stranger. 'I should probably say something' She reminds herself. The heat she was feeling was probably inappropriate. He clears his throat, looking as flustered as she felt. Nyla smiles "Hi" She says a little breathless. "Hi" He sounds exactly how he looks. He wets his lips as though he mouth suddenly went dry. "Um You . . . You're new?" "Right, Of course you are. I'm tour guide - I mean your school tour guide" She continues before he could nod in affirmation. They both turn around and began to stalk down the hallway. Later that day... "I totally messed up. He probably saw my LJS(Lee Jong Suk; a South Korean actor) wallpaper" Nyla whines a she rests her head on Rae 's shoulder. "At least you collected his number claiming that he should call if he needed your help. Boys are so easy" Nyla abruptly pops her head up from Rae's shoulder "Yes! instead of blaming myself and being stuck up on the past. I should be stalking his social media to see if he has a girlfriend". What she said was making lots of sense to Rae until the last part but she didn't care one bit since they were both used to doing that to all of their crushes. "I hope this one lasts a long time and maybe ended up leading somewhere good" Rae was used to Nyla having numerous crushes throughout middle school and freshman. She would admire them from a corner and end up never telling them how she feels. Rae turns back to look at Nyla who didn't bother giving an answer and was busy scrolling through her phone with a smile on her face. She sighed and wondered how she put up with her since childhood. "I heard he had to three or maybe two different schools before transferring to Ours. Why do you think he transferred to our school?" "I don't know. Stop asking me questions I can't even answer" Rae states after realizing her best friend wasn't in her best state of mind. "Nyla, you're so fucking crazy right now. Look at you, lying on your bed, smiling like a five year old over a boy. As your friend . . . " "He's worth it and besides you've also behaved like me so we're both crazy but in a good way right" She nudged Rae a little and sat up to face her. "As your best friend " Rae tries to finish her last sentence. "I should be helping you to get this guy so which account are you stalking" Nyla hit her hit a pillow after her last word. They bought fall on the bed laughing hysterically.
