Chapter 59: Past~2!
Being surprised would be an understatement to describe Subaru's inner thought right now. It has been already 13 years since he came to this new world and it was the first time, he heard about his biological parent from Sasha.
"Are you sure you want to talk about it?" Subaru asked as he saw Sasha's shaken-up demeanor but she nodded in affirmation and after a deep exhale started to speak.
"I was a brilliant mage since the start and obviously quite arrogant too. Even I was only A rank, I accomplished various perks which was far too great for a newbie to achieve. Naturally, my family was proud of my achievements and developing powers. Since the age of 18, I became a full-fledged hunter. However, since I didnt like publicity and my picture hanging around every corner, I asked my dad and hunter's guild to take care of media and stuff. " She paused for a second before she sighed and continued.
"It was going fine as I was doing what I loved and my family was also supporting me from the back. I was a role model for my siblings and a proud daughter of my parents until that happened." A remorseful vibe passed through Sasha as she held Subaru's hand in a tight grasp.
"It was that time when I was 22. I went on a raid with an unusual team which consisted of 3 mages including me, 2 tanks, 3 healers, and only one A-rank combat-type fighter. Since the raid was at B rank gate, we were more than enough to handle it. However, something went wrong and we took the monster too lightly. After an only half-hour, we already lost half of our comrades including 3 healers specifically. I and the fighter Kamahito were the only ones who were capable to fight until we reached the boss. Others were exhausted and injured severely. "
"By the time we killed the boss, my mana was nearly at complete depletion. Fighting an A rank boss all by two-person was nearly impossible and especially when there wasn't a healing backup in hand. The result was considerably favorable if one to see from a particular perspective. However, the crossfire took the life of every other member except one. Only one of the mage was left beside us who was also on verge of collapsing."
"It would have gone normally if we have returned back at that time and would have returned back to our normal life but unfortunately it didnt went as it should have.". Sasha looked toward Subaru in a serious expression as she spoke.
" Baby, do you remember what I told you about the person whose mana dries up to the core but not completely? " Subaru nodded before replying.
"They become frenzy and like an animal in heat". When the vessel of mana becomes shallow to the core, a person's primal instincts for carnal pleasure arose uncontrollably. It was a fact that was somewhat the awkward enemy of every mage but recently a device was invented to handle that kind of situation.
" I didnt know what came after me when I fell unconscious. But when I regained my composite and confirmed from the testimony I became devasted to know what hideous thing I have done." She shivered before gazing downward and continued in a horrified tone.
"I raped him. The whole night. He fainted after half an hour because of exhaustion but I never stopped. I..I never wanted to d-do something like...like that baby. Don't hate me. Don't hate me, baby". Sasha started crying as she begged. Subaru embraced her tightly to calm her down and himself too. He heard her clearly but right now he didnt want to think anything else but to only comfort his mom.
" It's okay mom. I won't hate you ever. Please dont cry like this". Subaru held her dearly as he spoke in a gentle warm tone.
Subaru never imagined that something could be the reason for his birth. But even now, he couldn't care less.
After half an hour of weeping and consoling, Sasha finally calmed down.
"Are you okay now?" Sasha nodded as she sniffed and leaned her body on Subaru.
"When I came to realize about my pregnancy, my family went against keeping the child alive, resulting in me migrating to Japan. I was confused about what should I do with the child, but Fubuki helped me at that time, and thanks to her I came to meet you, baby. Sorry to tell you this. I know it must be painful to know but I.." It was too unbearable for Subaru to watch Sasha like this. It was the first time he have saw her this broken.
"It's okay mom. Please dont apologize or regret anything that happened back then. I can't and dont want to see you like this. What happened was unfortunate but on the bright side, I came into this world and found you as my mother and lover. " She snuggled on him like she was a part of his body, as he also held her in his embrace.
"My family knew about my whereabouts all the time, but they never contacted me. I am pretty much sure that they hate me now. " Subaru didnt comment but asked something else.
"What about that man?" He asked indirectly as he didnt know how to regard his biological parent.
"Oh, I killed him the next day I got the news of what happened."
"..." Subaru was speechless but he somewhat expected it from Sasha. He chuckled and shrugged the matter off.
"Then? You want to visit grandfather now?" Sasha frowned a little as she contemplated before rejecting the proposal.
"No, I want you to be done with school before going there." Subaru raised his brows before asking.
"Is there any reason?" He asked confusingly.
"I think you won't be coming back for a while if you go there."

"It's been a month since you all have joined the Hunter's School. Your daily assessment, theoretical progression, and the points you gained from specific task completion will be calculated which will determine your overall progress as a future hunter. Since a month has come to an end, students will be grouped in a team. The teams can be voluntarily created by agreeing with other members and forming a party of five. Or you can join the second year's if they are willing to accept your proposal. Those who fail to join any team would be assigned randomly with other students as a team..." The other details went for an hour. I wasn't much interested in forming a team as it become a hassle to work with others.
If I can then I would have only Ririka by my side from the students. But again if I want to stay any longer here then I have to oblige with their customs and rules.
The lecture ended as everyone started discussing whether they were interested in forming a team and stuff like that.
I was sitting on a chair while reading the book I borrowed from doc. I have only met her once after that incident and the hell of a reaction she was giving me at that time, I still could picture it out clearly.
Turning my page I felt Kyojuro's presence near me.
"I think you are not here for casual chat. Are you?" I asked while reading the history of the curse mark and from where it originated. It seemed like utter bullshit in the start but now I could find the logic behind various things.
"Nishimiya Subaru. Form a party with me". I expected this.
I lifted my gaze after throwing the book in storage.
Before I could have replied to him, a pink-haired fluff ball jumped in front of me with a cheerful smile on her face.
" Subaru kun".
"Gasai san. It's been a while".
" Yeah. Sorry for not being in contact. Well, can you form a party with me (only)". I would pretend to not notice her hidden motive but before I could have replied anything, the jerk with glasses shouted from a distance as he dashed toward us.
"Hey brotherrrrr...be my comrade. Hmm? Yuno san and Rengoku Kyojuro too? Not bad for starters I guess. But you have to show your potential if you want to be in our team okay?". I guess he deliberately says those lines where a decent punch becomes deserving. I sighed without a word as I felt another presence approaching us.
" Subaru kun can I become one with you?" Ririka with a red face asked while fidgeting cutely.
'I have to work on her choice of words.'
I stood up while facing the four people. They were all veterans in their own respective way and I couldn't find any better than this so without waiting I agreed with the proposal.
"Okay then. Please take care of me as well".

After the team was formed every member sat together around a round table made for team discussion. All the five members of Subaru's team were discussing the team name.
Like them, every other team was also discussing which team in the second year to approach or who will be the leader. The hall was quite noisy because of the populace inside.
The faculty has given a whole day to decide the team, finalize the name and report it before the mid-noon of the next day.
" It should be Wyvern Knights. It sounds cool. What you guys say?" Theo offered after checking the already existing team names and luckily there wasnt any team named what he was offering.
"Nah too flashy. It should be Samui Cavalry. It will suit our team right Subaru kun?" Subaru nodded absentmindedly.
"You know our team has a blaze user too right. It will contradict its whole meaning." Yuno said something which everyone knew but Yuno was the one who retort it first.
"Hoh it's like that Gasai san. Well, your opinion doesn't matter you know that right? And how are you on the team in the first place? We didnt agree upon your admission." Yuno formed a sadistic smile before replying.
"That applies to you too Ririka ojou-sama". A vein popped on Ririka's forehead but before she could respond venomously, Subaru opened his mouth.
" How about the Ultimate Warrior. Simple and logical."
"I think it's quite good Nishimiya Subaru". Rengoku, who was silent until suddenly agreed with Subaru.
They both were nodding in agreement like old uncles. On the other side, all the other three members of their team had a look of complete disbelief on their faces.
The fact that both senior teammates of the party were so simple-minded and lame was quite surprising to them. But before Theo could have started to laugh his ass off, a sudden aura covered the whole auditorium.
Rengoku's hand instinctively landed on his katana hilt.
Everyone else in the hall including Subaru turned their head toward the entrance of the hall from where the massive energy was approaching.
"It's the Reapers". A gasp resounded on the arrival of the top team of the second year.
'You finally decided to show up huh".
