Chapter 3: Literature Group

Ares POV.

"Hey, Ares. We're in the same Literature group. Come here, we'll break up a little show for the day after tomorrow." a male student greets me and pulls up my seat next to him.

"Is it just the two of us?" I asked Dito.

"No. The six of us," he answered.

I just nodded slowly, I took a book and a pen that I would use to take notes.

Dewi along with Raihan and Stela then joined us. I quickly counted, five people. Where is one member of our group at? Why is he so slow, I thought.

Dug.

A chair hit the back of my chair. I immediately turned around in surprise.

Oh shit. God is punishing me this time.

Kirana just moved a chair and accidentally bumped into mine. I was only able to take a deep breath, trying to act normal even though I was actually really annoyed that I had to be in the same group as that girl.

Kirana didn't look at me, she was busy pulling and adjusting her chair. I shifted my chair so he could pass, just trying to be nice.

But apparently the girl was just passing by, she took her seat towards another group gathered in the front row.

Huh. It's such a relief.

At least I'll learn without feeling uncomfortable.

"Ares, please write the names of our group members on a blank piece of paper which we will hand over to the teacher later," asked Dito as the group leader.

I agree, but we still lack one member.

"Dito, who are the members of our group who are not present yet?" I asked.

"Mila," he answered simply.

"Well, my friends, based on the teacher's orders, we are asked to present a literary performance for practical value taking. Do you have any ideas or suggestions for this?" Dito asked one by one the members.

"I don't really understand Literature. But I think performing poetry with appreciation is cool," said Raihan.

"Ah, how about we show a mini drama? We play fairy tale characters or royal legends in Indonesia," said Stela.

"Why not just a musical? Looks like it will be more interesting," said Dewi.

"Wow, your ideas are very good. But for me personally, I prefer to play a mini drama because considering the time given to us is only fifteen minutes," said Dito. "What do you think Ares? What kind of show do you want?" he asked me.

"Honestly I don't know much about art or literature. So I'll agree with whatever he decides," I replied.

Dito laughed, he then patted my shoulder lightly. "You're handsome, Bro. I think if we play a mini drama with a romance theme, it will attract a lot of viewers," he said with a light laugh.

"But I can't act," I evaded immediately.

"We have time to practice until the day after tomorrow, you will definitely be cool," Dito said encouragingly.

Though I'm not interested in this, just trying to keep doing group work well.

Dewi and Stella are in charge of taking care of the script, while Dito and Raihan will be busy with various properties that will be needed. They've been very busy. Immediately I realized that I was in a group with good teamwork.

A little glance at Kinara's group which looks quiet, I think they are having problems with each other. Not so excited, not even to chat.

I once again felt lucky that I wasn't in the same group as that girl.

"Students, I'm waiting for your best work the day after tomorrow. Ok? Give it your best and prepare everything perfectly. We will use the school hall room so students from other classes can watch and give assessments." Miss Dinda reminded us again before ending the class.

All the students nodded in agreement. Literature class which is always in the arts is indeed the favorite of the students. That's what Dito told me.

The bell signaling the end of school had rung. We rearranged all the chairs as well as other items.

Again I almost bumped into Kirana because our position was too close, but the girl still ignored me and just said sorry quietly.

Ciara, Kirana's best friend, immediately approached her and invited her to go home with her.

In just a matter of seconds, Kirana's expression brightened again after she talked with her best friend.

I walked behind them, towards the school gate. I didn't want to eavesdrop, but the conversation of the two girls in front of me was so loud that I could hear it. They were discussing about their respective group members and the idea of a show they would be doing the day after tomorrow.

I took a deep breath. My stomach feels very hungry because there is no lunch, just snacking a little.

I checked the cell phone that just rang, it turned out that Dad couldn't pick me up because he had a meeting with an important guest.

No problem, I just need to order a taxi online.

Ciara seemed to have been picked up first, so Kinara had to sit at the bus stop alone.

The girl was reading a small notebook while muttering.

Ah wait, why do I care so much about that girl. Damn, I should have just gone in the opposite direction.

I quickly headed to the other side of the school gate, unlocked my phone and ordered a taxi online.

While being silent, I was surprised by a loud tap on my shoulder which took me by surprise.

"Hey, you dropped this."

Kinara stood in front of me holding a red pen.

For a moment I noticed, she was quite tall, but her face...

Oh what's wrong with me! I shouldn't have stared at her long enough.

I took the pen, it was hard to say thank you even though this time she again gave me help.

The girl then smiled. " Did your father pick you up?" she asked.

I nodded slowly.

"Where do you live? Is it far?" she asked again.

I don't want to respond. Just staring at my phone and making sure the taxi I ordered will come soon.

"Ares," said Kinara again.

I surrender, the girl really pissed me off.

I turned and almost scolded her, but she looked at me expressionlessly by handing me a box of banana flavored milk.

"You didn't eat lunch, you must be hungry. Take this."

I'm really not interested. But she took my hand and just put it in my palm.

"Bye ... be careful on the road," she said cheerfully and waved.
