Chapter 2: 22nd Row

Shortly after take off, a lady in red came to 22nd row.

"Good Evening, we will be serving fish and Chicken for this flight", how would you like to have yours?

Can I look at the Menu? Angel asked the flight attendant.

Here ma'am, if there's anything you might need. We have wine, spirits, and non-alcoholic drinks.

Thanks, I'll check this first. Angel is feeling indecisive.

"Certainly". I'll get back to you once you've decided.

The crew attended the other passengers, handing out blankets and earphones.

Hmm, what do I feel like eating!? Angel was trying to choose between two Main Courses

"Can I have a Fever Tree Tonic water, and I'll have the Fish Main Course please", Angel picked out her meal.

"Definitely try the chicken", Allen interrupted.

Excuse me?, I'm trying to choose here. Can you focus on your own food? Angel was amused by Allen's rather rude gesture.

Just tryin' to order here Miss. Excuse me can I have beer and Chicken, also Wine do you have a cherry liqueur?, Allen asked the Crew.

Yes, Sir we have Maraska, it's a cherry wine from Croatia. The crew happily poured Allen's drink. Here you go Sir, your iced cold beer and Cherry Wine.

I'll have that one too, Gretta's voice sounds excited. And tea and biscuits please.

The crew, handed out the 22nd Row passengers their orders, and carried on to attend the other rows. Enjoy your meals, Don't hesitate to ask for anything. The crew smiled after serving each row.

"Al, can I call you Al? you have good taste in wine", Angel noticed.

Al is fine, Allen chuckled. By the way were you born somewhere close to the Sea?

Yes, how'd you know? I'm Angel by the way, I'm from Seattle, obviously going back there to visit my Mom for the holidays.

Well you ordered fish. I just guessed.

Do you have some kind of knack for guessing where people come from by their food? Angel was curious of how quickly Allen analyzed her.

Uhm, it's quite a fact. Some people just thinks of home when they choose, and this time you've chosen to eat fish, which is not ideal in flying. The taste of food changes here, and fish just seems like an obvious choice for you if you're not hungry enough. Allen explained.

So I guess you came from the South then, because Chicken? Angel returned Allen's analysis.

Dallas. Fish and beer don't mix for me. So I'm going to dig in, with my cold beer here and wine for later.

"I just want to eat chicken", said sweet old Gretta.

Are you visiting someone too?, Angel turned to her.

My Son is picking me up at the Airport. He lives with my grandchildren. I'm a widow too. Gretta talks and chews her chicken lightly.

Allen and Angel, felt sorry for Gretta. You're one tough grandma, Angel told her.

So where in Seattle is the best Chicken? said Allen.

I say Frank's Oysters and Champagne. I always go there for brunch. And Hue Ky Mi Gia Chinese Restaurant, my Mom loves their garlic Chicken. You should visit them, if you have the time. Angel answered.

We have Frankie's in Garland, North of Dallas. I eat chimichangas and enchilada both with chicken or brisket and rice. Allen was thinking of food while gobbling up his chicken with his bare hands.

My Son always eats Chicken, at home he cooks it in one big pan in the oven with herbs and potatoes.

That sounds so delish, Gretta. You're Son probably spoils you with food and lots of love.

My husband when he was still alive, he used to put the barbeque grill every weekend outside even when it rains he still cooks. The sight of a Man mixed with the smell of meat grilling used to turn me on. Naughty Gretta winked at Allen.

I always thought the best quality a Woman could have is the ability to devour a chicken leg clean out of it's bones. Allen finished his chicken and gulped his last glass of liquor. He brandished his glass to the crew to ask her for another round of Wine. Here you are Sir! are you feeling comfortable, maybe you require pillows and blankets?

I'll have two pillows please, Gretta said. My back is crouched. Okay Ma'am I'll get them for you.

Angel is watching a movie from the flight entertainment.

I'll have an earphone please. Yes, Ma'am here it is. Angel opened the plastic with earphones in it and put them on her ears.

What are you watching?, Allen asked.

"No Reservations"

It's starring Catherine Zeta-Jones, and Aaron Eckhart. Angel showed it to Allen.

Sounds interesting, I'll watch that too.

What is it about?

Uhmm, Catherine is a chef, Aaron is also a chef.

So it's about food?

Yes, and complications of having no love life, but having responsibility. She has a niece, and a restaurant to take care of.

Oh, quite the drama there. So they fall in love while working?

I suppose so, just watch it.

Allen was feeling chatty, after consuming all those alcohol.

I had a lover once when I was young, Gretta interrupted them. He was very handsome. I wished you've seen me when I was young, I looked like that actress.

Angel and Allen both smiled at her.

The three strangers, all acquainted by food chatted away the hours left in their one-stop flight to Seattle.
