Chapter 87: How to Get a Wife (7)
Lu Chenjun's smile disappeared again as he muttered to himself, "I have iced coffee too!"
He opened up his bag and searched for his bottle of expensive Kona coffee he had people deliver from Hawaii. Before he could find it, he received a call from Fang Shi.
"What?" He asked impatiently.
"Mr. Lu, we have a meeting in thirty minutes at the Su Corporation. Are you almost done?"
Lu Chenjun frowned and said, "I'm coming."
He closed his bag and stood up, "I have to leave early today. Work hard, Yinghui. I love you."
Lu Chenjun patted Elena on the head and left. Elena shuddered at Lu Chenjun's cheesy words before she continued studying the script.
The next scene consisted of Elena and Zhao Liruo. It was after Zhao Liruo lost affection from the emperor due to Shu Yao. She forces Shu Yao to kneel before her, and this causes the emperor to hate Zhao Liuruo's character even more.
"The Legend of Shu Yao, Scene 56, Take 1, Action!"
"Then I will punish you to kneel right here for two hours. Watch her, Ye Rong." Zhao Liruo said as she walked away, leaving her maid to watch Shu Yao.
During this scene in the film, Zhao Liruo's character, Xi Fei, was of a higher rank than Shu Yao. Therefore, she was able to punish her.
The maid, Ye Rong, marched over and forced Shu Yao to kneel on the ground. Afterward, she lit a candle wick and waited until it completely burned out.
Elena only had to kneel for a few minutes, as they were going to edit the rest in.
"Cut!" The director called.
Director Liu raised one eyebrow and said, "Jin Yinghui, you have to get more tired as the minutes go on since we will be cutting the scene. Let's try it again."
Zhao Liruo immediately rushed over and helped Jin Yinghui stand back up. Elena limped a little before finding her balance.
The second time, she kneeled in the sun for longer. Since it was getting close to winter, the crew had to use strong lights to fake the sunlight.
Elena couldn't feel her knees anymore and she was starting to wonder why the director still wasn't calling cut.
Finally, after close to 20 minutes of kneeling, Director Liu called cut. Once again, Zhao Liruo rushed over and helped Elena stand up from the hard floor.
"Next scene," Director Liu screamed before walking away to get a drink of water.
Elena slightly furrowed her eyebrows before limping over to the changing room to change costumes.
As she was scrolling through her phone and waiting for the next scene to begin, Zhao Liruo walked over with a bottle in her hands.
"Hello, Jin Yinghui."
Elena smiled and asked, "What are you doing here?"
"I had my assistant buy some medicine for your knees. The floor was really hard, so I'm scared the bruise will leave a scar." Zhao Liruo handed the medicine over to Elena and shyly lowered her head.
"Thank you, Liruo." Elena looked at the medicine and placed it on the table next to her.
"I will use it well."
Zhao Liruo smiled and walked away.
Mila tilted her head to the side and said, "She seems nice."
When filming ended that day, it started raining. The weather forecast didn't say it was going to rain, so no one prepared an umbrella. Everyone crowded under a tent and some of the crew members had people come to pick them up.
"How about I run over to the car and go get an umbrella?" Mila asked.
"It's okay, we can wait for the rain to stop."
As time passed, more and more people left. In the end, only Elena, Mila, Director Liu, Zhao Liruo, and a few other workers and actors remained.
Mila was getting impatient and she complained, "The rain is never going to stop. I'm not scared of rain, I can go get one."
Elena smiled and said, "Then let's go together. I'm not scared of rain either. We can both run to the car and just go home."
Mila shook her head immediately, "You still have to film tomorrow. What if you get sick?"
"My immune system isn't that weak."
As they were arguing, a man was walking towards them with a huge, black umbrella in his hand.
He stopped in front of Elena and said, "Sorry I'm late."
Elena turned her head away from Mila and her eyes widened at the sight of Lu Chenjun. Although he had an umbrella, his hair was still slightly moist from the rain.
"Why are you here?"
"To pick you up. Let's go." He said, looking at Mila and Elena.
Director Liu's expression got worse and worse as Lu Chenjun continued to talk, and her hands angrily clenched up into fists.
She looked at the black umbrella and forced herself to put on a calm face.
"Director Lu, do you mind also escorting me to my car? It's not too far away."
Lu Chenjun furrowed his eyebrows and looked at Liu Xingyi, "It's not too far away, so you can walk there."
With that, he pulled Elena in close to his embrace and walked away to his car, "I'll come back for Mila."
After Elena was safely in the car, Lu Chenjun took another umbrella and walked back, giving it to Mila. Together, they walked back to the car under separate umbrellas.
Director Liu's expression couldn't get uglier. She looked like she had swallowed a fly, and her face almost turned green.
Fang Shi drove and Mila sat in the front passenger seat, while Lu Chenjun sat next to Elena in the back.
"Did you get wet?" Lu Chenjun asked as he pulled out a towel.
"No," Elena replied.
"How was filming?"
"Good."
They arrived in front of their new apartment, and Mila and Elena got out of the car with an umbrella.
"Thank you," Elena said before walking into the apartment building.
Their new apartment was much bigger and all of the furniture and decorations were clean and new.
After arriving back home, Elena hopped into the shower and Mila began ordering delivery food.

The next day, Elena was studying her script while eating a chocolate Lu Chenjun gave her. Lu Chenjun was sitting next to her, playing with a strand of her long wig.
They both looked up when they suddenly heard a voice directed at them.
Director Liu smiled at Elena and said, "I know this is kind of late, but I organized a meeting tonight for all of the actors in this film. You should go too as the first female lead. Almost everyone is going."
Elena raised one eyebrow and asked, "What is the meeting for?"
"It's just so we can all get closer. If you know each other better, you will be able to act better too. The meeting will take place at the Xinjiu Bar in the private VIP room number three at 8 P.M. Can you go?"
Elena looked towards Mila and she shrugged, "Okay, I will be there at 8."
Director Liu then turned towards Lu Chenjun, "As the biggest sponsor, you should also attend. The producer and I will also be going."
Lu Chenjun looked at Elena and frowned, "Okay, I will be there."
