Chapter 2: Enticement

I entered the house in a rush, anticipating seeing Hoseok lounging around somewhere. I quickly took off my shoes and dropped my backpack at the door. I went in search of my brother who I hadn't seen in three weeks. He often visited but had priorities to deal with at his university. He would visit with me and my mother, but always went back to school as soon as the weekend was over. I treasured the moments he visited.

"Hobi? Are you here?"

"In the kitchen!" he shouted out to me.

I could hear the sounds scuffling in the fridge. I grinned knowing he was snacking on mom's leftovers. As much as he likes living in the university dorms and being as independent as possible, he would always return if only for mom's food.

"Geeze, you could leave some for the rest of us," I giggled.

He grinned at me while chewing on a spoonful of rice. A variety of foods were spread out on the kitchen island and most were halfway empty. He gestured for me to sit and join him which I didn't hesitate to do.

"How was school"

"Same," I brushed off while eyeing the bowl of cucumbers, "Soo Min and Mi Cha are coming over later."

"Should I give Jimin the heads up?" he shook his head in amusement at the reaction that he would receive when he ran into her again. She wasn't overly pushy but the looks of longing were a bit much. She didn't have to confess for everyone in the room to know she had the world's biggest crush on Jimin. Since she was so close to Nari, Jimin tolerated it.

"When will Joonie and him come over?" I eagerly asked.

He glanced at his watch, "They said around six. Joon had to submit a paper so he wasn't able to leave with me. Jimin said he has a friend he invited so he'll be picking him up first."

"I hope they eat before coming over seeing how you ate a good chunk of the food," I glanced pitifully at the mess left behind.

"I'll clean it up, Ri" he began gathering the empty dishes, "Go change out of your uniform and we can watch a movie until they arrive."

He didn't have to tell me twice. I wanted to have as much time with him before the others arrived and we had to split our time with them. Not that I mind. Jimin and Joon are my brothers too, and I miss them just as much.

*An hour and half later*

Soo Min and Mi Cha arrived together with bags of chips and sodas. They were sitting on the couch when Namjoon arrived with a friend.

"This is Seokjin, he's in my economics class."

There was no denying how gorgeous Seokjin was. He had flawless skin and beautiful, full lips. He could be easily be an idol with how handsome he was. He politely greeted my friends with a nod and slight wave. When he approached me, his smile widened.

"Nari, I've heard so much about you from Joon," he beamed, "I feel like I've known you forever."

I blushed at his radiant smile. "Uh, it's a pleasure to meet you, Seokjin."

"No need to be so proper, call me Jin."

He patted my shoulder in a brotherly manner and headed to Hoseok who was sitting on one of the stools at the island. Namjoon hugged me and ruffled my hair in greeting before joining them.

I was in the process of closing the door when a hand roughly stopped me. I was so caught up in my interaction with Jin that I hadn't noticed the people approaching the door.

"Yah!" Jimin shouted. "You almost bludgeoned me with the door!"

I rolled my eyes at his exaggeration. "I didn't close it that hard, Jiminnie!"

He huffed playfully which was followed with a smirk. Growing up, he was my best friend. He still is but with going to different schools and not living close, we only talk through text message and whenever he can visit.

"Oh, I brought a friend," he gestured to the boy behind him to move forward, "This is Kim Taehyung. I've told you about him before, but now you two get to meet."

Kim Taehyung...where do I begin? I was blinded by Jin's stunning face, and just when I thought I had recovered from that, here was another extremely attractive man. His visuals were no joke. I'm beginning to think my mother picked the wrong area to live in.

"It's nice to finally meet you, Nari," he said in the deepest voice I had ever heard.

"You too, Taehyung."

"Please call me Tae," he offered in friendship. His smile was the most adorable boxy grin. He extended his hand out for a handshake. I took his hand in mine and I felt myself redden at the small squeeze he gave my hand. I looked up at him and gulped at the raised eyebrow and cheeky grin he gave me. It was as if he could read all the stupid things that were going through my mind. Was I that obvious in my thoughts?

Taehyung's POV

As long as I've known Jimin, he'd always wanted me to meet Nari. He promised that she was great and that we'd get along. He said she was an avid manga reader and loved to play video games. He said she wasn't like the other girls that fussed over their makeup, but was on the simple side of fashion. He said growing up that they would go to the local arcades and game the day away. He praised her gaming skills and said that I'd appreciate her company too.

I wasn't sure if I wanted to meet her. As childish as it seems, I often felt a little jealous of their bond. She wasn't even his blood relative, but he loved her like a sister...well brother with how he'd wrestle with her too. Jimin was my best friend since middle school and I had to hear his rambling on and on about her. I felt like she was taking my best friend away which was ridiculous considering she didn't see him as often anymore.

I'd managed avoiding her on multiple occasions. If she went to his house for a family visit, I suddenly had family plans as well that I just couldn't get out of. I had a project or obligations to attend to each time he suggested I go with him to her house. I'd find any excuse to delay having to meet the girl that made me feel stupid for competing for Jimin's friendship.

I figured we're in our senior year, and it was about time I stop being so immature and meet her. I wasn't being a good friend to Jimin by avoiding someone he loved so much. So when he mentioned going to her place over the weekend, I took the initiative and invited myself. He was thrilled.

"Maybe Soo Min will see you and forget about me!" he said in prayer. I was well aware of Nari's friend and her crush on Jimin. He often said that he couldn't escape her stares or sad attempts at flirting.

The day finally came, and when he brought me forward to meet Nari, I was momentarily stunned. I expected to see a petite, gawky girl with large rimmed glasses and possibly braces and pig tails. With the way Jimin spoke of her, I always imagined the cliche movie nerds. She was none of this...well other than petite. She was a very cute girl in all her simplicity. She didn't coat her face with an elaborate amount of make up, which made her look younger than our ages.

After the pleasant greeting, I caught the tint of pink making an appearance on her cheeks. She must be thinking something similar to what I was thinking. Perhaps I wasn't what she was expecting as well. One thing I could tell was that my presence made her nervous. 'Cute,' I thought.

What was wrong with me? How could I think she was cute? She's Jimin's cousin slash girl best friend. He'd kill me if he knew what I was considering. I better not cross that line. Offer a clear line of friendship.

"Please call me Tae," spoke. It was meant as an offer of friendship, but when she took my hand, I felt a spark where our hands met that suddenly began spiraling through my body. What is this? I see her face redden more, and I can't stop the need to get her to look up at me. I squeeze her hand as if to promise that this isn't where our conversation will end. I can't deny the pull I'm feeling from her. I'll thread lightly. I'm not sure what this is but her eyes tell me she felt it too.

That instant attraction. I tried my hardest to put that feeling into words. I hope I did a good job of that.

P.S.: I'm listening to "Christmas Tree" by V for the Kdrama "Our Beloved Summer."

It gave me the feels.
