Chapter 56: Chapter 56: His Warmth

"I'm not feeling so good right now, I'll talk to you later." Soo Min hung up and pinched the bridge of her nose in annoyance.
When she felt something looking at her, Soo Min looked up at the source of the two blue orbs gently looking back at her.
"What?" Soo Min asked.
"Nothing." Ryan simply stated. While on the outside, he maintained a calm and collected demeanor, but on the inside he was quite happy to see his future wife stand up for him like that. He felt content.
Soo Min raised her elegant eyebrow. Clearly, the man was thinking something. And if not why was he constantly staring at her. Can't he look somewhere else?
'Mister. I get that you won't stop staring but can you at least feed me, all I got to have was three spoons of soup. I'm still hungry!' Soo Min complained.
"So the reason you saved me was because I saved you?" Ryan asked.
Soo Min looked at the genuine look he was giving her, something that she couldn't take her eyes off.
"I saved you because I'm a doctor. If anybody else was in your place I would save them too." Soo Min nonchalantly said.
'Was I a bit to harsh?' Soo Min wondered when she heard no response. But she had to be. She didn't want to give him any false hope or hint on something else.
"W—Why did you save me?" Soo Min asked.
"I saved you because I wanted to." Ryan said with that same gentle look in his eyes, he had when he came to save her.
Soo Min's lips parted, feeling a sense of inexplicable happiness.
"As you know, I'm not a doctor that is obligated to save anyone. In fact, I'm not that nice that I could put others before me. I'm a businessman so I won't help anyone without any benefits, but you're the first person I genuinely wanted to help." Ryan informed.
This explanation of his made Soo Min feel dizzy and a fuzzy yet warm feeling coursed through her heart.
"U—Uh oh Hwang Chang Min! Come here." Soo Min called out to her intern when she saw him standing outside through the little window on the door.
Plus, this was a great way for her to get out of this awkward situation. With that, Ryan's warmth turned back to his old icy demeanor.
"SUNBAE." The intern called as he dashed into the room, gleefully and hugged her tightly, startling Soo Min.
"Oh my goodness, Sunbae! I'm so glad you're alright. You don't know how worried I was. I would have come here earlier if it was not for Dr. Nam's instructions to not disturb you." He informed.
Ryan, on the other hand, was quite annoyed by how this unknown fellow was so close to Soo Min, to the point he was hugging her.
Soo Min slowly pushed away Chang Min because it felt a bit weird to her as well. Giving him a weak smile, she said "I'm fine. But I called you here to discuss some of the cases on my desk, that I need you to urgently finish."
While they were busy discussing a certain patient's case and regarding their open heart surgery, Ryan feeling jealous and neglected decided to leave the room. "I'll be back." Ryan coldly said.
Turning towards him, Soo Min asked, "Wait. Where are you going? What about my…"
When Ryan didn't pay much heed to her words and left the room, Soo Min pouted, "lunch."
She felt somewhat dejected, but her attention was then caught by Hwang Chang Min who continued to ask her questions regarding the case.

Hospital Lobby.
"Is she some sort of male attracting magnet? Why is she close to so many men? Why does she even allow some unknown person to be that touchy with her?" Ryan mumbled as he walked.
RING! RING!
"Hello?" Ryan answered as he watched the pouring rain through the floor-to-ceiling windows.
"Boss. Are you with the Young Miss right now?" Assistant Yoon worriedly asked.
"No. Why? Is there something wrong?" Ryan inquired.
"U—Uh well you see…"
"Yoon. Speak clearly!" Ryan instructed. He felt somewhat uneasy.
"The chief from the police department called and said that Hyeon Dae Hyun was bailed out, so I'm worried that he might do something to the Young Miss—Hello? Boss are you there?" Assistant Yoon asked from the other end of the line.
Ryan didn't bother to let his assistant finish his words and dashed to go back to Soo Min. He felt so many thoughts flood his mind.
Worry, Fear, Stress.
These were all the emotions he was feeling right at this moment. Upon reaching the elevator lobby, he kept on pressing the buttons of every single elevator in the area, but his impatience grew and he decided to take the stairs.
He hurriedly climbed the flight of stairs, taking big leaps from time to time, running to reach the eleventh floor.
He wasn't going to let anything happen to her this time, or ever in the future. He would protect her no matter what!
