Chapter 1: Wear glasses to keep a low profile

"Master Sun, the bus has arrived" the lady wearing a maid costume, called Sun Jing. Sun Jing saw the bus and realize he has saw a similar bus five years ago.

"Why aren't you entering Tsinghua with me, Ze Kai?" Sun Jing asked his childhood friend, the only friend he had ever known since he was seven.

"I believe you already know the answer," Ze Kai replied in a cold tone.

"You didn't make it? It can't be. Even if you didn't score as much as I did, I know you're capable of entering Tsinghua," Sun Jing replied, feeling confused.

In an embarrassed outburst, Ze Kai's face flushed crimson as he insisted that his test scores were impressive enough for Tsinghua University admission. "It's your attitude, Sun Jing!" he exclaimed with animated gestures. "You're intelligent, attractive, and athletically gifted. I understand you're just being yourself, but I wish you could keep a lower profile," Ze Kai expressed his feelings candidly to Sun Jing.

"Do you know, all the girls in school gave me their contact numbers," Ze Kai complained to Sun Jing, who seemed puzzled by the sudden revelation. "Is that a good thing?" Sun Jing inquired. "Of course not," Ze Kai retorted, "they gave me their numbers to pass them on to you."

Sun Jing shook his head, showing no interest in pursuing any romantic connections at school. "Then all the guys in school found out and asked me for the girls' numbers. They took my number and text me every day, asking for the girls' contact details. Meanwhile, the girls also text me daily, asking for your number," Ze Kai informed Sun Jing about the chaotic situation he was facing every day.

"You should have let me know, and I would have reported those guys to the teachers. I've already told the girls I'm not interested in them," Sun Jing replied, a hint of concern in his voice.

"It's fine. It's over now. I'll head to a different university. I hope you'll try to keep a lower profile so you can make more friends. Goodbye, Sun Jing," Ze Kai bid farewell and left, leaving Sun Jing deep in thought about his friend's words.

Sun Jing felt disheartened as he watched Ze Kai walk away, feeling abandoned by his best friend. As he returned home, he received two more devastating pieces of news: his father had lost his high-paying job due to a deliberate act of sabotage, forcing his mother to seek employment to support the family. "You're all grown up now, Sun Jing," his mother told him. "I have found a job with a decent salary, and I'll be back after you graduate. I have faith that you will find a good job too."

Sun Jing felt a sense of helplessness overwhelm him as he processed the events of the day. Spending time chatting with his mother provided a momentary comfort, but the looming reality of her departure the next day weighed heavily on his mind. He vowed to find a job that would provide for their family, hoping his mother's promise to return would be fulfilled.

The following day, Sun Jing accompanied his mother to the park where she would depart for the airport. As they waited, he reflected on the advice Ze Kai had given him. "Perhaps it's time to adopt a more modest approach," Sun Jing pondered. Passing a glasses shop, he suddenly had an idea. He purchased a pair of glasses, determined to start practicing a more low-key persona.
