Jessica blinked slowly, still caught in the haze of sleep. Her mind was groggy, the line between dream and reality not yet fully clear.

She squinted at the figure sitting casually on the chair near her bed.

"Good morning," the voice repeated, calm and unmistakably male.

"Did… Did I just hear a guy?" she thought.

She tilted her head slightly, her eyebrows drawing together in confusion. Since no man had ever entered her room before.

Her eyes narrowed further, squinting as if trying to blur the illusion away. But no, he was still there.

The silhouette remained exactly where it was. Still confused, she rubbed her eyes with both fists, slowly and gently, like wiping sleep from a foggy window.

When she opened them again, she found him still there. Not only that, but now she could clearly see his face.
