Chapter 3: Chapter 3

"River please. I'm begging that you go get some sleep. You've been standing in the same spot for the past three days. You haven't sat once or even eaten. That's unheard of for you. The only time you leave is to go to the washroom, but you're back in less than a minute."

"No."

That was all I'd said for the past three days since I'd brought the beaten girl to the pack hospital. Well besides asking the doctors repeatedly if she was going to make it. I'd probably annoyed them to hell and back.

"River" she said sternly. "If you don't go and get at least twelve hours of sleep, something to eat and a shower. I will have no choice but to call your father down to take care of this matter."

For the first time in days I twisted my head to the doctor and glared. She glared right back. I sighed then inhaled one last time before leaving. The smell was absolutely glorious, she smelt of a spring field and it was taking everything in me to make sure that I didn't run up to her and stick my nose in her hair. Aside from the fact that it would be extremely disrespectful to the unconscious person it would also draw unwanted attention to me. The entire pack would be very confused as to why their future Luna was smelling an injured patient in the hospital wing.

I slowly made my way up to my room and walked into the washroom. I caught a glimpse of my reflection in the mirror and it looked like I had been the one that nearly died. The rogues dry blood was still caked onto my frame and dark bags hung under my eyes. My stomach growled demanding food. I mind linked the pack chef and asked for a meal. I ripped my clothes off me, not even bothering to try and preserve the remains of my light grey tracksuit.

I turned the shower on to cold and hopped in. The frigid water cleared my mind while I scrubbed off the blood.

............

Shower thoughts flash back

The howls rang out and it aroused my curiosity. It was near the pack borders so I went to check. As I got closer I realized that it was at the top of the cliff. I raced up and the closer I got the better I could smell the heavenly aroma. Once at the top I couldn't believe my eyes. At least a dozen wolves where feasting on one. I heard a whimper and I realized that the wolf that they where attacking was still alive, and it was the same wolf that smelt of spring.

A furious growl rumbled out of me and fifteen pairs of eyes shot to my direction. One wolf ran at me, it wasn't even a challenge. I tore its throat out and spat it on the dirt. This seemed to anger the rest of the rogues and they all charged simultaneously. I felt my lips slide into a viscous grin as I attacked. My teeth snapped bones and I felt the wind roar against my ears when I spun so swiftly to chuck some off into the valley. Listening as a soft thump echoed against the valley as they hit the bottom.

In a matter of seconds I was in a one on one stand off against the rogue leader. He sprinted into the forest and I began to run after him but quickly turned around when I remembered that the nearly dead wolf was still there.

I went to it and rubbed my snout against the bloody fur. I sniffed again and nearly pranced with joy at the smell, instead I snorted out some of the blood that I had accidentally inhaled.

My brain was like a race track with the amount of thoughts running around. I narrowed in on one and tried to think of way to get the wolf to the pack. I growled with alpha dominance, ordering the wolf to shift so I could carry it back. It twitched once then laying in its place laid a woman.

A woman covered in blood and scratches, and very naked.

I shifted as well and bent down and picked her up bridal style, not really caring that we where both naked. I ran back down the cliff with the girl in my arms and headed to the hospital.

Once inside I immediately set her down on a bed and barked one order. "Help her."

............

I finally got out of the shower and put on some pyjamas. I crawled into bed and scarfed down the steak and potatoes that the chef had made me. I glanced at my clock, I hadn't slept in almost five days.

Upon that realization I closed my eyes and let my head hit the pillow.

I slept like the dead, dreaming of running through a sunny spring field.
