Chapter 58: A new guest

Prudence went to sleep late and she missed the first song of the birds. However, an unwelcoming knock on her room's door did wake her up. At first, she ignored it, thinking it was just Nicola back to wake her up. Nicola had come by in the morning to do that but Prudence had requested a few more minutes in the bed, which had turned into hours. 

Nevertheless, Prudence did not answer but the knocking did not stop. She creased her brows, looking at the door. 

Nicola would usually come inside after a few knocks, but this was definitely someone else. Prudence clicked her tongue while rubbing her dry eyes. It stung to not have enough sleep, "Yes?"

The door clicked open and Bertha came in but she did not walk more than two steps past the door, "Lady prudence, we have an important guest at the manor. As the in charge of the manor, it would be necessary you-" 

"Wait," Prudence squinted, trying to process the information with her sleepyhead, "As the what?"
