Chapter 1: Lux Osterman

June 9th of the year 2169 of the gregorian calendar...

I was born Lux Osterman to a family of world-leading scientists who name me as such in hopes that I would be their 'light'. My father was a physicist, while my mother is a biologist. Both of them leads the world in their respective fields, most of our relatives do.

Although my parents were always busy with their research, I was raised well.

It was my first year of existance I think, that I realise that I'm different from others of my age; I can correlate all of my mind's contents.

It started from learning the consequence of the past to the future, connecting the dots of cause and effect across space-time.

I can connect a dot to another the very instant I got a hold of the other dot. Ideas and applications are instantaneous to me.

I learned like everything is just strings entangled in a chaotic mess yet to my mind there is always a certain order as they create a continuum of a whole; I correlate all of my mind's contents.

I've been quite addicted to learning since I realised this, seldom leaving the comfort of our library, preferring the stillness there as I read books others of my age or even much older couldn't hope to grasp.

And it was on my 5th birthday, my parents finally brought me to their labs.

Although the reason was not what I have hoped for, that is through my own genius, it was to revitalize my mood after 'they thought I just learned that I was 'quirkless' as I've never awakened one on their radar even past my 4th birthday when the awakening was most prevalent.

Well, I never did explicitly show my genius to my parents, afterall, they never asked. The minimal things I showed were thought to be normal in our family anyway.

Apparently, they were trying to hide such 'condition' from me, even though I knew it before they even do.

However, I was apathetic about the matter. Such 'condition' never crossed my thought as a hamper to my well-being.

And even if I were to awaken one, per the genetics of our family it would either be related to having boosted intilligence or creativity.

Both of which, I consider nothing but a drop of water to an ocean, I prefer not to have one for the possibility that it might do nothing but make me dumber instead. The thought crossed my mind that I've already long awakened my quirk with how different I am, but the tests and quirk detectors I've built which was more efficient than what they thought as 'worlds finest' detects not a single infinitesimal sign.

However, they continue to treat me like their cute little child who only knew what was taught to him as usual.

Thus since my 5th birthday, I've become a regular in their labs. Though they've never let me touch their 'heavy' equipment, only allowing me watch when they do experiments and the only experiments I was allowed to do in my own were what I deemed as 'parlor tricks'.

Therefore, I often 'discretely borrow' their equipment whenever they are away to satisfy my own agenda.

As for school... I was confined in such a damning institution that do nothing but waste my time... 'Socialising is important' was my parents reason for sending me to such a prison, I would have agree given the human condition, but it was to my interest to transcend such human limitation.

I do not get the significance of it, in the search for the truths and facts of the Universe, how is socializing with what might as well be animals who does nothing but play, messed around and does not understand a single sentence I say, necessary?

Those rowdy kids and their loud noises were hard to ignore like an ambulance. Mind you, I'm patient enough to rack brains to be able to make a device that can turn a black hole into a star, yet I can't stand these kids who does nothing but make noises.

Thus I created a device that isolates my radius from any external stimulus that vibrates the air as sound passes, bringing me my silence again.

Needless to say, the school in our city proved useless as I became the first in ranking every time even without listening nor pay attention to the babbling of the teachers.

It was on my 10th birthday that we finally moved.
