Chapter 8: Another encounter

Oliver’s statement was left unanswered. I was too stunned to speak.

He and I stood face to face; I felt my heart thundering inside.

Thud.

I knew I had to say something to break the awkward silence. He was there that night. Would he believe me if I told him it was Alpha Matteo’s child?

Considering this for a minute, I searched for the right words to convey the message.

A colorful flash in the sky distracted me. Fireworks scattered on the horizon, seizing my full attention and how timely it was.

The impressive display of lights reflected in my eyes. It was on my bucket list to watch fireworks every New Year's Eve.

The Red Light District had this yearly fireworks display on New Year’s Eve. I looked forward to it.

I felt light-hearted thinking about not having to wait for New Year and climb on top of a building or wall to watch it without worrying that someone would catch me and shoo me away.
