Chapter 99: A summons

The leader of the Flamerose maneuvered his way into a complex alley, the path twisting and turning. It was so easy to get lost when you weren't a resident in this part of the city, and even more when you were a noble with half your wits about you. Because only those who lived in the slums truly knew these alleys by heart. Those who lived on houses stacked upon each other like puny, half done bricks because of the lack of space. Disease ran rampant, and anyone wouldn't last a day if they were one of the normal citizens in Carnelia.

In this cutthroat part of the city, it was essential to survive. You only had yourself, and on rare occasions, you'd have sworn brothers and sisters willing to share the burden. If only to make things less difficult. But less difficult was a mere illusion, a faint light you chose to follow in a narrow tunnel with no idea of what you're doing. Except the firm fact that you're moving forward. Towards somewhere unknown.
