Chapter 279: A Good Brother

After dinner ended, Marie was helping her son-in-law send the dirty dishes to the kitchen when the phone she left in the living room started to ring.

"Mia, take that to your grandma," Elena instructed while eating some fruits with her gaze on the television.

"Okay!" Mia picked up the phone from the table and ran towards the kitchen excitedly. "Grandma! Your phone!"

At the door, Marie met her. "Thank you, baby," she patted her hair gently before taking the phone from her. But as soon as her gaze fell on the caller ID, the smile on her face faltered.

Marie actually allowed her phone's ringing tone to end before she shoved the phone into her dress pocket and let out a deep sigh.

When she turned her back to the door, the smile that had disappeared from her face slowly crept back up. She saw Mark trying to do the dirty dishes and quickly tried to stop him.

"Mark, you don't have to do that," she said to him.
