"You are dating Mark Wang?" Marie entered into another round of shock.

"Yes," Elena confirmed.

"Without first telling him about Mia?" Marie probed. Was she going to tell her now that she hadn't recognized him when she met him again?

Elena kept quiet. She would never tell her mother that 'Mark Wang' was the main reason she worked towards being transferred to Deluxe Stores in City H.

Mark had been her hope to get a better future for them. But when she met him and discovered he was Mia's father, it took her a lot of deep thinking to continue with her initial plans of using him to climb the social circle and make more money.

That was maturity in the least.

Unable to handle her mother's hard stare, Elena said, "It just happened." Then she released a deep breath. "Also, I couldn't just tell him about Mia without knowing him very well. I had to be sure of what kind of person he is before letting him in on that," she said in defense.
