Chapter 12: " Answer me, God! dammit !! "
General pov...
During those 3 days. he had missed George's funeral. he had more than 40 missed calls from many people.
Everyone had their problems to deal with...Gwen's father had died, and peter was stuck in George's last words.
Still, both had tried to contact Ethan.... another one was caroline. she was worried since she heard the news of the attack on the school. Other were his few school friends Felicia also tried. And flash too. that guy got Ethan's fan after seeing him playing basketball.

Ethan's pov...
When I had seen that lizard in person at school, it gave me a new perspective that the world is not that simple after all. And watching everything for the last two days only confirmed it. that one failed experiment can took so many lives. I will never forget what I had seen during that time. bear it all my life and learn from it. So I never have to face this again. With this thought, I left the roof.
After reaching home I found the police at my door. they said someone had complained about me going missing but they left after confirming that i was ok. I took a hot bath and went toward the kitchen to make myself a meal. but i got intruptted by the sound of the doorbell.
I opened the door and saw Gwen. She was standing there with an umbrella in one hand. she didn't look good, her hair were messy and she looked a little pale. Red eyes, sad certainly with disappointed face. She stared at me for some time and finally asked.
"Where had you been...you left me alone with my dead father back there. you didn't even show up at his funeral, even flash showed up... Peter also wasn't there but I thought it would be ok. because you will be there... I thought we were best friends."
I had recently realized that after Gwen get over her crush on me. she really had became my closest friend. We often hang out and go to visit various science projects. And Without me realizing we had become best friends. That's why she told me everything about Connors in the first place. she wasn't the one to involve a rendom person into something like that.
She was barely stopping herself from crying while talking. so I just pull her for in hug and said in a low voice "I'm sorry."
Hearing that she tried to try to push me away. while asking "where were you ??" but I didn't let her go. She sill struggle to leave, keep asking the same question again and again. her voice getting lower and lower untill eventually she stopped an started to cry.
After letting it all out. she left my embrace and looked at me again and realised my pale face and asked
"what happened to you ?"
I wasn't looking good, I was pale and tired and all that use of aura with 2 days of starvation and exhaustion had affected me.
We came into the house she made me seat at the dining table and went to the kitchen. after 15 minutes she came with a meal and served me a plate. I signalled her for two. I wasn't gone eat alone...
We also took seat opposite to each other. "you are not much of a cook, are you ??"I said breaking the silence.
She glared at me and said "Don't try to change the subject, you should be the one making me meal and here we are. Look at yourself Ethan, What's going on with you ??"
I didn't know what to say but she was still staring at me waiting for an answer.
"I was at the top of the building near oscorp." I said.
"you were on the terrace of the building and that's why you left me alone during my father's funeral, what were you doing there... counting stars or something." she asked but I kept my silence. I just didn't knew what to say...
She throw her plate and shouted, "answer me, god! dammit !!" I looked at her and said.
"how can I show up at his funeral? It was supposed to be me. I should have been the one to take that damn serum up there, I could have helped many people..." I closed my eyes while saying. it was all coming back. the whole thing that happened after explosions.
But I felt a hand pressed on my own. so I opened my eyes, Gwen was standing there, wiping her tears. she stared directly into my eyes and said.
"it was his decision, he went down doing his job. something he believed in so don't disrespect him by sayin something like that. it wasn't your fault."
I nodded but I knew better. but I didn't let myself sink further And I asked about Peter and she said everything about Georges's last words. we talked a little then she left after saying "take care."
Take care hah !!.. it's been a long time since i heard those words.
