Chapter 107: Dr. Strange

Stephen Strange, the Sorcerer Supreme and the Master of the Mystic Arts.

He was a person stronger than the Ancient One and even Morgan le Fay. But above all, he was the balance keeper of this world.

Fixing spatial rifts, closing time loops were a few of the things that he was needed for— but that was not why I was here today.

"So, these two are the ones that you chose for the mission?" Strange asked.

"Yes, and there is one more that will be helping from the sidelines."

Strange looked at Carl and Marc with suspicion.

"The Eye of Agamotto allows me to see parts of the future but at times that is enough to know the outcome. Yet for reasons that I cannot comprehend, I cannot see your future. And your involvement with these two made their futures hazy as well."

"Get to the point, Strange."

Strange is known for blabbering unnecessary information and at times that can be irritating.

"My point is… I cannot guarantee that they will succeed." He said which caused me to laugh.

"I do." I smiled. "I can guarantee that they will succeed."

Selene was their backup and I had shared a few of my powers with Marc and Carl temporarily. Which should be enough to give them the edge.

"I have shared a little of my power with them."

That made Strange look at Moonknight and Absorbing Man.

"Let me warn you, your enemy might be one of the worst opponents you might have ever faced. And you might not be able to walk out of this mission alive."

Marc and Carl looked at each other and Carl laughed.

"We have faced death countless times, sorcerer. This does not scare us." He said.

Strange shook his head. "Trust me that this mission will."

He looked at me. "The enemy is D'Spayre and I believe you know his strength."

D'Spayre… This world's version of Scarecrow but instead of using gases, D'Spayre uses his mystic arts to induce fear in his enemies.

The tricky part is chasing him. He can travel through dimensions with ease and that will be a problem for Marc and Carl.

But, I had that issue solved.

"You two can now teleport… for the time being. I have shared my teleportation ability with you." I said, making Carl excited. "Don't be too happy as this fight will be more annoying than dangerous. This guy hops through dimensions and you will feel like playing tag rather than fighting."

D'Spayre is not a major threat but I need to take care of him if I want to gain Strange's favour.

"No problem, boss." Carl said.

Hiding my identity in front of some people is useless and Strange is one of those people. I sat in front of him as Markus instead of Jester.

As for why I decided to send Moonknight and Absorbing Man instead of going to face D'Spayre on my own…

I just didn't want to.

Rushing on my own to face some B-grade villain to gain someone's favour was not acceptable at the position I was at right now. And thus I decided to send these two instead of going on my own.

I snapped my fingers, creating a portal.

"Go through there and you two will meet Selene. She will provide you with the rest of the information. And while she won't help you directly, she will be responsible for sealing D'Spayre once you defeat him."

"We won't disappoint you." Marc assured.

"I hope so."

The two nodded and walked through the portal, leaving Strange and me alone.

"Wong." Strange called as a chubby bald man walked in. "Prepare us some tea."

"As you wish, Sorcerer Supreme."

With that, the two of us were left alone once again.

We two sat in silence for a while but I knew we would reach nowhere if I didn't start.

"So, what have you decided?" I asked.

Strange kept an impassive face. "What you are asking for is too much and you know this as well that getting rid of D'Spayre is not enough to make me help you."

I nodded. "I do and that's why it was just one of the things I am willing to do."

Opening a spatial rift, I took out a wooden box from inside the rift and placed it in front of him.

Strange was shocked as he felt the immense demonic energy being radiated from the box.

"This is…" He had a frown on his face as he stared at the box.

"It is yours." I smiled. "But you have to agree to help me."

The thing that I had gifted him was none other than the demonic sword, Sakki.

"It is the best link you can find to the Beast and you know is just as well as I do that the Beast is something that neither of us can defeat if it enters our realm… without destroying earth at least. So, you will help me, Strange." I smiled but he still didn't seem convinced.

"Don't act like it's only my problem, Strange. If that person reaches earth… it will not only be my problem. So, think about it carefully."

He and I stared at each other.

"After all… The enemy is none other than Kang the Conqueror."

Strange leaned on his chair and rubbed his temples. "Very well, I agree."

As a smile appeared on my face, he put on a serious look.

"But let me warn you. Kang is not the only foe we will have to face." His frown deepened. "Another enemy is about to be freed from his seal."

That drew my interest.

"Who?"

He didn't reply and pointed at me which confused me.

But when I checked where he was pointing, it was at the left side of my chest… more precisely my heart.

"Heart?" I asked and he nodded.

"Blackheart."

.

.

.

"What?!"

The sudden revelation left me speechless as the enemy he was talking about was none other than the son of Mephistopheles.

Blackheart is stronger than his father Mephisto and has the ability to create Spirits of Vengeance at will… The same spirit that makes Johnny the Ghost Rider.

He is immortal and is said to the vessel of humanity's evils.

Calming myself, I looked at him seriously. "How long do we have?"

"Three years… four at best." Strange answered.

Kang will be here in a year and a half… and Blackheart will be freed in three years…

I sighed. "These upcoming years are going to be quite stressful."

[Attilan]

The city of Attilan that floated above the Atlantic was considered to be nothing more than a myth by many.

But it was real and even more advanced than it was told in those tales.

The city was inhabited by Inhumans and Alpha Primitives and was ruled by the Inhuman royal family.

At the centre of the floating city was the royal castle where the royal family resided. And inside the royal castle, sat the king of Inhumans— Blackbolt.

Blackagar Boltagon or Black Bolt— the King of Inhumans has an electron-harnessing ability that he uses to enhance his voice. His voice is capable of shattering metals and even creating earthquakes. Many people are rendered paralysed after taking a hit from Black Bolt and as such, Black Bolt is considered the strongest Inhuman.

But that ability was not without any problems. He had no control over the intensity and hence he never talked unless absolutely necessary.

Sitting on the throne, he looked at his genetically enhanced dog, Lockjaw— a humongous mutate dog capable of teleportation.

He was waiting for his wife, Medusalith Amaquelin— Medusa.

Medusa was an Inhuman with hair that had prehensile attributes similar to Medusa the Gorgon from Greek mythology.

But as he was waiting for his wife to make an appearance, he heard the voice of one of his royal guards— who rushed inside calling his name.

"Your Majesty." He said. "There is a person flying outside Attilan that demands to meet you."

This made Black Bolt frown. Signalling the guard to continue, he got off his throne.

"He is taking down the royal guards one after another."

Black Bolt signalled him to reveal the person's name.

"Your Majesty, he calls himself— Markus."
