Chapter 3: Mysterious Orb

"Wha--What was that?" Exia cried in shock with his body trembled in fear. The pain he experienced just now felt so real. Shifting his eyes to the floating scarlet-orb that seems currently also staring back at him, Exia's body shudders furiously, and he subconsciously crawled backwards.

However, the instant he moved, the floating orb also began to advance in his direction.

Realizing the orb was approaching him and getting touched by that thing directly would be harmful to his body. Exia quickly stood up and started to run to the crowded street.

While running, Exia couldn't help but cursed under his breath, "Damn It! What is that red-orb thing? How come a mere poke would make my head hurting so bad?"

Even now, Exia's head is still aching a bit due to the brief contact he had with the orb. It's akin to you're being spoon-fed but ended up choking because your mouth couldn't contain all the food fed upon you.

Turning his head a little, Exia saw the red-orb from the corner of his eyes still following him like a homing missile, "Shit! Why does that thing come after me? What did I do? Is it because I'm a Transmigrator??"

The most plausible possibility he could think of at the moment was that red-orb thing targeting him because of his identity as a Transmigrator. But how did that thing find out about his identity? It's has been a day only, and he has been discovered? Is such a coincidence really exist?

As Exia was distracted by his thought, he bumped against someone's back without any warning, causing him to fell on his butt, "Ouch!"

The other party body was only shaking a little bit before glancing at Exia and reprimand him, "Hey, watch your way, kid!"

"I'm sorry, mister." Exia apologized while scrutinizing the man's appearance before adding, "By the way, can you see a floating orb behind me, mister?"

"Orb?" The man puzzlingly said before hauling his eyes to Exia's back direction, "What are you talking about? There is nothing except people."

A glint of understanding flashed across Exia's eyes, "Oh! Thank you, mister."

Without hesitation, he began to rush like a madman in the direction where one of his friends was stationed.

Recalling the group's discussion they had earlier, Exia arrived into one of the most crowded streets and spotted a boy with his bangs covered his eyes, who none other than Lockey. Approaching him with almost like a flash, Exia bending his body down slightly while pressing his hands against his knees and said between his panting, "L-Lockey, can you spot an orb floating behind me?"

Lifting his head, Lockey stared at Exia as if he was a ghost, "What the heck are you doing here? Go to your post immediately, you dumb!"

"Just hear me a moment! can you see a spherical object floating behind me?"

"Y-You!" Lockey was startled and about to refute Exia's request once more but halted his action when his eyes caught a firmness were present in those pair of golden-eyes. Left with no other choice, Lockey gulped down the words he about to unleash earlier and helplessly said, "Fine, fine!"

Tilting his head upward to see clearly what's behind Exia, Lockey frowned, "I don't see a thing other than some flies."

Exia paused for a moment before abruptly caught Lockey's wrist, drawing a complaint immediately from him, "Hey! What are you doing?"

Sensing a struggle from Lockey, Exia spoke shortly, "Let me borrow your hand for a moment."

Wha-? Lockey gaped at Exia's words and speechless.

Ignoring Lockey's consent, Exia proceeded to direct Lockey's hand into the floating orb he noticed wouldn't move far away or too close with his own body.

"How do you feel?" Exia asked while staring at Lockey's expression keenly. If Lockey starts to display a hurtful expression, he would immediately withdraw his hand from the orb.

Snapped out from his thought, Lockey quickly retracted his hand and said, "What do I feel? I feel like you're becoming crazier today."

"Yeah, I thought so too," Exia mumbled.

"What?"

"Thanks, Lockey. Good luck with your work." Exia patted Lockey's shoulder a few times before running off once again, leaving Lockey in a dumbstruck state.

...

Back into his post, Exia leaned his head against the wall while breathing heavily. Just now, he did those actions was to confirm the existence of the orb was limited to his sight only or not. And the answer he got was the orb was only visible to him. After asking twice, Exia learned all of them couldn't see the orb that floating strikingly around him.

He also tried to trick them into accidentally touched it, but their expression showed no response like bearing pain or whatnot. It as if they only stroke air normally. From that onward, Exia concluded the orb was invisible and untouchable for other people but him.

The orb also remained silent throughout the time and didn't try to attack him with its mind-break assault, unless Exia touched it directly.

Ruffling his hair in an annoyed manner, Exia spoke to the orb, "What are you? And what are your function?"

If this orb was the privilege he got from transmigrated, then how to use it? Just by brushing the tip of his finger over the orb, what he got was a painful headache instead of a superpower like he read in novels. In the end, the orb was a worthless thing for him currently.

Heaved a deep breath, Exia suddenly heard a loud scream from the street, "Assasin!"

'Assasin?' Exia thought to himself before turned his attention toward the voice's direction, driven in curiosity.

Running into his direction, a man clad in black-robe with his face covered in a mask, displaying only his black-eyes that filled with fierceness.

"Shit! He's heading on my way," Exia promptly jumped on his feet and scurried away from the place as he didn't want to get implied.

"My money!" Exia bawled when he saw his bowl full of copper were kicked out by the man and his chaser.

Squatting down, Exia swiftly secured all of the copper that scattered across the ground. As he picked some of his coins, his eyes catching a glimpse of paper also lying on the ground.

Reached out his hand onto the paper, Exia dusted the paper before taking a look at its content.

As he's studying the paper, Exia's eyes slowly widened.
