Chapter 21: Battle with Kayla
Daniel P.O.V:
Daniel stared at the girl. She was so confident she was going to win. Daniel had never seen someone with so much ego. Daniel would enjoy defeated her in a battle. Daniel saw the girl walking over to Janae Katrina. He could a few setences like:
May I request a battle with the boy named Daniel?
Daniel didn't know whether the teacher would accept. When the girl returned, she had a smug look on her face. "Mrs Katrina has allowed the battle to take place, she will referee the duel, making it official"
"Before we fight, I should know your name" Daniel asked. "You have no reason to know it, but I'll tell you anyway" she said "Kayla" she said and walked into the stadium, stretching. Daniel wondered whether this girl was actually strong or known for her trash talks and big ego.
Daniel walked into the stadium. 'Time to show them how powerful I really am' he thought to himself. "This is an offical Training Centre Battle. The winner is whoever knocks out their opponent, not being able to battle" She nodded at the two. "Ready?" asked Janae. "Yes" Daniel and Kayla said in unison. "Then, begin" she said. The moment she said it, Kayla whipped out two blades double the size of her hands. It had a perfectly straight handle. It glimmered in the sunlight. She sliced through the air coming straight towards Daniel.
But Daniel was prepared, jumping to the side, bringing Sciodes out. It transformed in an instant. Kayla hesitated for a moment, seeing the staff, she had never seen a staff used as a weapon. He sent a ray of Dark energy towards Kalyla hitting the edge of her hand. Everyone was stunned. Kayla and Janae were staring at him. "That's-" began Kayla but she didn't have time to finish her sentence. Another wave of energy flew towards her, but she dodged. She ran low and fast going for Daniel's leg.
But he managed to jump and dodge sending a last minute ball of burning purple liquid onto Kayla's back. She screamed in pain but recovered. Daniel was amazed by her determination. Kayla threw her weapon at Daniel. He only managed to move by a fraction of a second, but it made a huge tear on his T-shirt. Daniel knew it was time. He concentrated the energy into his staff.
It transformed into Sciodes Sword form. Everyone was too shocked by the battle to say anything. Kayla went for the attack but Daniel intercepted it with his sword making a spark of electricity as the two weapons collided. Sweat was pouring down Daniel's face. There was determination on both heroes faces.
But Kayla did something unexected. She stopped in the middle and stones started to rise above Daniel. 'She's an Elemental Hero of Earth' Daniel thought. No wonder she's hard. Daniel made that joke in his head. Two stones came into eye-level with Daniel. One hit him hard on his nose. Now there was blood on his nose. Daniel didn't know whether it was broken or not, but he continued the fight, he couldn't afford to loose...
The raging battle continued as Daniel switched between Sword and Staff trying to get hand to hand combat and long ranged attacks in. But an over powering sensation filled Daniel's body. It was the same sensation when he learned to use his ability. Daniel closed his eyes and disappeared.
Kayla was confused. She stopped dead in her tracks. But what she didn't know was that Daniel was a shadow a few feet away. The shadow travelled all the way up the ceiling and at the last second, Daniel transformed back into human, Sciodes in his hand, aimed right at Kayla. Sciodes was building up energy, and Daniel released it making everyone there close their eyes. A huge explosion occurred and dust filled the stadium.
When the dust cleared, there was a huge dent in the stadium, and inside, Kayla lay. She was still alive but unconcious. Everybody stared at Daniel as if we was an alien, looking at him with a new interest. And Daniel went in and lifted Kayla up. "Take her to the nurse" he said. And a girl came in and scuttled away carrying Kayla with her. The whole room was quiet until Janae spoke up. "That was amazing!" she cried and the students did a round of applause. But Daniel could see the slight worry on Joane Katrina's face but he decided to igonore it and enjoy the attention. And just to be funny, he bowed "Thank you, thank you" he said with a smile.
