Chapter 15: Nightmare
As hadrian walked he could fill the cold on his skin as the night sky bristled by and the world passed him by. He remembered the beauty of her smile and the innocence of their laugh. The sound they made as the bullets went through them her frown and screams as she was killed.
The look in her eyes as HE loomed over her while he was pinned. Then white.
He awoke with a scream as the nightmare ended with a cold sweat. Of course his companions heard him and woke with a start and looked over to him.
"Sir what happened why are you screaming?"
Our good protagonist looked over at victor as he said that before answering.
"Just a nightmare of days long past."
After the ruckus the two of them went back to sleep while he got up and decided to walk around a little to clear his head. The forest was full of life as he walked through he couldn't help that something was going on though just the atmosphere seemed to be slightly heavier than it usually was.
Whizzzz
He quickly dodged the arrow coming his way and pivoted in the direction it was shot from. As he looked in that direction he turned his eyes perception speed up mentally to see a human with a bow quickly move to a different position. Of course he quickly took out his knife and a few stones from his inventory then putting the knife in a reverse grip and throwing two stones in the humans direction.
Of course he dodged as best as he could but the 25 strength stat wasn't there just for show. Before he could move out of the way the stone struck his left shoulder.
[3 Damage + 25 strength=28 damage]
It barely did any but it was enough to knock him backwards from the force of the impact and send him tumbling onto the ground.
Whizzzzz
Once again he had to dodge an arrow and quickly move out of the way of two more that came after that. After looking around he found himself surrounded by 12 humans all of them decked out in equipment.
"So gentlemen may I ask just why you have decided that im worth the effort of trying to kill?"
As he asked that quickly he was mentally checking all the systems that his cyborg body gave him to see if something would let him get away or at least close the distance with the bastards.
After he asked the question the one he hit with the rock before answered in a distorted voice probably from the mask he was wearing or was it a she? It was hard to tell from physical features alone.
"You cyborg have been judged guilty of 7 counts of murder and the purposeful slaugther of an entire village by the way of a mechanical beast."
Of course this didn't phase him as he expected some kind of consequences for his actions After all such death was bound to attract at least a little attention from the powers on high.
"Thus for your actions against the human race despite the treaties with your race against such a thing you have been marked for death. Do you have any last words?"
"Hmm how about… Fuck off?"
The human looked unamused.
"If that is all prepare for death."
The world slowed down as 8 arrows and 4 crossbow bolts came towards him. The first to get close to him was smacked away by his hand with the second impacting the flat end of his knife then dodging the third and fourth.
The fifth was smacked by his knife as it was about to hit his chest. Then with a quick spin around he dodged the sixth projectile. Then jumping out of the way of the seventh he caught the eighth which he put into his inventory. Before he could do anything the ninth hit his metal arm damaging it slightly.
[9(Arrow) damage +12(Bow bonus) damage + 18 strength + 50% skill buff- 20 armored=30.7 Damage. -30.7 health: 119.3/150 health. No penetration]
The arrow bounced off harmlessly without doing any damage and only affecting his health but thankfully no bleeding affect was activated. He wasn't deterred by the slight hit though and continued to dodge and block.
Easily dodging the tenth and eleventh bolt and catching the twelfth shot which he put back into his inventory. The bounty hunters surrounding him were just dumb struck by what they had just witnessed not only the feats of acrobatics but precision and hand eye coordination that went into what he had just done.
"Well that was fun we gonna continue?"
