Reunion dinner would be something that I looked forward to as we were not very well to do, but on this day, we would be able to have chicken, roasted pork and many delicious food. We enjoyed it and ate till our stomach could not take it anymore.
Mummy would called all of us to her room and took out the new clothing that she had prepared for us and asked us to try on the clothing and made alternation if it was too big for us.
After that, we would play in our neighbourhood with other kids till very late in the night as there would be no school the next day.
On the next day, we were woke up the loud lunar new year song played coming from the Rediffusion. Quickly we would wash up and put on new clothing and one by one lined up to greet our parent with an auspicious greeting such as 'Gong Hei Fatt Choy', 'Man Xi Yue Yi', etc.
The best moment is the collection of 'Any pow' and then we would run out to get our fire crackers and started our 'battles field' with other kids on the block.
We would either light up the crackers and cover it inside the can and then watched the explosion and the can went flying up the sky.
Daddy would hang up a long string of fire crackers on a bamboo stick outside our house and then lighted it up and we all clapped happily and watch all the debris of the red crackers on the floor to mark the auspicious beginning of the year as 'Ruo Di kai Hua, Fu Gui duo lai'.
After that, my family would visit places like Tiger Palm garden, botanical garden and then during the night, 'Tai Sei Jie' night market.
This childhood memory of the Lunar New year, will forever remain in my memory, even though we were all grown up and had our own families and our parents were both old.
