Chapter 6: 6 New Data

The doctor quickly snatched up a stray notepad and pen and started writing all the things he noticed about this precarious situation. He remembered how Ethan would jot things down in bullet points and did the same.

[ Facts:

•Huge glowing yellow cube

•Mass death

•Glowing yellow eyes

Hypothesis:

•Some humans have revived?

•Zombies?

•Zombies with glowing yellow eyes?

•Were they even dead in the first place?

]

He looked over his notes and realized he new basically nothing about the situation. A sigh escaped his lips as he massaged his temple. Weird choking noises sounded from Ethan's direction so he walked over to him and checked him.

Everything seemed normal except the glowing eyes. He felt something prick his finger, wet and sticky. A red liquid was dripping out Ethan's mouth. "Sh*t."

He checked his hand for any wounds but their were none. The blood was coming from Ethan's own mouth! Similar to when he was dying. The doctor opened Ethan's mouth and saw a pair of sharp fangs as well as a river of blood.

'No wonder, his throat is blocked.' He shook his head and brought Ethan over to a sink forcing the thick liquid out of his mouth.

He turned on the tap and watched the blood run down the drain. Ethan raised his hands slowly and began feeling his throat before sticking his fingers into his mouth. Hearing the man choking once more brought the doctors attention to him.

"What are you doing!? Stop." He pulled Ethan's hands out his mouth.

"Stuck..." His voice was scratchy and he could barely pronounce.

"What's stuck?" The doctor patted his friends cheek trying to get him to open his mouth. He did after some hesitation. It was to dark for the doctor to see down his throat so he searched the draws and pulled out a mini flashlight.

Cllek-

The light shown down the mans throat. Without the blood covering everything he could see it in all is gory glory, The man had sharp teeth running down his throat. It disgusted Labcoat so much that he turned off the light and stepped a distance away. "Uhm... I should write this down... over there."

He nodded and walked away.

A new part was added onto the list,

[symptoms:

•body morphing? (Could they be changing into something?)

•Growing extra teeth... and limbs

]

He read over his notes once more, trying to remember anything he'd forgotten. The door suddenly opened. "LABCOAT- WOAH, THE DEAD DUDES ALIVE!"

'Labcoat' threw a pen in the loud mans direction. "Shut up. Your going to scare him."

"I scare everyone." Wen shrugged. "I was looking for you and I have something important to say."

"Spit."

"Uh no ew..." 'Labcoat' rolled his eyes, he knew that he knew what he ment. His eyebrows raised at Wens next words. "We ran out of food, were going to die of s t a r v a t i o n."

"We only ran out of food because of your fat a*s." The doctor stood up. "But this would be a good opportunity to find out whats going on outside."

Wen's jaw clenched as he stepped back, "Outside?"

"How else would we get food."

"There's alot of dead bodies here..."

"Nope" The doctor deadpanned. "Im not becoming a cannibal."

"Suit yourself-, OW" His ear was pinched. "And I'm not letting you become a cannibal either."

"But I don't wanna go outside~." Wen whined.

"Fine, stay here and watch him for me then, ok?"

"Your going by yourself?!" Wen gasped. "Fine, I'll come, only to keep you safe."

'You can't even keep yourself safe. You're contradicting yourself again. Weren't you just scared?' All these thoughts ran thru the doctors head but they never made it out his mouth. "Fine."

'Labcoat' picked up the short man sitting on the table. He was quiet and obedient much unlike Wen who was skipping around the place and opening doors for the doctor.

"Slow down, when we get outside I'm going to need you to be quiet, ok." The doctor put a finger over his lips.

Wen frowned behind the gasmask. "Boring."

'Labcoat' resisted the urge to strangle the eccentric man. Ethan was glancing between them. He could barely move his body and so the doctor had to hold him. The doctor tossed Wen the keys. "Open it."

The sun was shining out the glass window, which was the perfect time to explore since it wasn't as dangerous. After all, most dangerous things choose to show themselves in the dark.

Wen unlocked the door and stepped out. The cold hit all three of them making Wen shiver. The doctor remembered that all of Wen's outfits were just bone-white jumpers. 'I'll need to get him a coat.'

It wasn't usually cold where they lived, in fact it was suppose to be fall but after the cube hit, the temperature dropped tremendously and a layer of frost covered everything. Wen was pretending to ice-skate. "Hehe, look, I'm moving without walking."

'Labcoat' ignored him and Wen slipped, hitting his back on the ice. "Fuk!"

"Pfft-"

"DON'T LAUGH AT ME!" Wen stood up and dusted off his clothes. "Why can't I get a piggy-back ride. This is discrimination."

The taller man's eyebrows raised. "Pick yourself up."

The group walked to the nearest town. The cube was almost blocking out the sky, that's how huge it was. The closer they got to where the cube hit, the colder it became. Wen wasn't good with temperatures, having been in the asylum for the most recent part of his life, where the temperature was regulated, he really couldn't take it.

"When will we get there? My fingers are so frozen that I can't even bend them! Wehhh~" Wen sat on the floor and curled into a ball. 'Labcoat' sighed and bent down with him. "Come, were close ok? We'll go into that building, do you see it?"

Wen looked up and nodded. It was a building that had smoke puffing out of the top, as if someone was in there with a fire. It looked cozy.
