Chapter 32: Midoriya Versus Tokoyami
*Shiro POV*
My eyes open and above me is a white ceiling and white lights, 'I must be in the infirmary.'
Sitting up, I groan slightly as my head starts hurting, and I complain mentally, 'Damn it, I didn't take much physical damage, but it probably took a lot of mental effort to keep my body standing.'
Lying back down I look to the bed to the right of me, with Momo, a tired smile on her face, "That was a fun fight, Shiro."
Other than some bandages wrapped around her head, she seems fine, and I respond casually, "Yeah, it was, honestly, the fight could've gone either way."
She lets out a sigh, "It's… frustrating, I thought you would've gone down easier."
I chuckle, "I'm not gonna go down that easy. But still, to think you would use blood and a blood incense against me. Such dirty tricks, you used to be so pure… what happened?"
She smirks, "I've been around a certain someone for too long."
I put my hands behind my back and close my eyes, "Man, they must be such a great person."
We stay quiet for a few seconds before we both start breaking out in laughter.
"Hehehahaha!"
"Muwahahaha!"
We continue laughing for a minute until Recovery Girl eventually tells us off, "Will you two shut up!? I'm trying to focus here, and your laughter isn't helping!"
I chuckle lightly and apologize, "Yeah, yeah, sorry, Recovery Girl."
We both quiet down and I look at Momo, "Too bad we didn't get to fight in the finals. You would've been able to sho-"
But Momo cuts me off, "It's fine Shiro. I underestimated you, and that's why I lost. It's as simple as that."
She stays quiet for a few seconds before talking again, "But… if you don't win, I'll never forgive you."
I stare at her blankly before smirking, "I'm either against Tokoyami or Midoriya. I should be fine."
Recovery Girl walks over to us, "If you wanna watch the match, you can do it from here and rest at the same time."
I quickly look over the room, "But, how? There's no TV?"
She clicks a remote and from behind a wall, a 60-inch flatscreen pops out showing footage of the fight.
I whistle, impressed, "Well damn…"
My eyes narrow as I focus on the two people fighting, 'Well, this is certainly… unexpected.'
Izuku was panting heavily, six of his fingers broken and scratches all over his body. Tokoyami on the other hand looked relatively fine other than some dirt on his uniform.
'From what I remembered of Tokoyami, he should be at a disadvantage here. His Dark Shadow pales in comparison to Izuku's power. Dark Shadow is fast, versatile, and has more range but that shouldn't be enough to overcome the difference… yet, Midoriya is on the losing side?'
Midoriya lifts his hand up and I can see him visibly shaking as he tries to aim at Tokoyami, 'Is he in pain? But he used eight fingers against Asui and was fi…'
My eyes widen in realization and Izuku fires, while Tokoyami uses Dark Shadow to pull himself to the side, 'It isn't pain… It's fatigue.'
My mind replays all of the injuries that he had attained today, 'Broken arm in the relay race, eight fingers in the first round, and one finger in the second. He had all of those injured healed on separate occasions within a couple of hours. Recovery Girls quirk uses energy as a supplement to heal wounds in seconds, so if that quirk is spammed… I'm amazed that he's even able to stand properly, let alone fight.'
I look over to Recovery Girl who has a concerned look on her face, "You know, don't you, Recovery Girl."
She gives me a side glance before looking back at the screen, and Momo looks at me, unaware of what was happening, "Know what? Shiro, what are you talking about?"
I open my mouth to respond but Recovery Girl answers first, "Midoriya is running on fumes. My quirk uses life force or stamina to heal injuries. I've been healing him repeatedly in a short time. As a result, he's dead tired."
I raise my eyebrows as I look at the school nurse, "I thought you were better than this. You knew all this, but you still let him participate? You didn't even tell him about his future if he keeps on going like this. I was the one that had to do it."
Momo looks at me confusedly again, "Future? What's happening?"
I look at Recovery Girl, but it doesn't look like she intends to answer this time, "At the rate, he's going, his arms will be crippled and unusable by the time summer comes around."
Recovery Girl smiles sadly, "You really are his son."
I shrug my shoulders, "What can I say, I learned from the best."
She looks down at the floor before responding, "I… I tried to stop him. I almost even refused to heal him before, but after seeing his expression and determination… I can't just say no."
She stays quiet for a few more seconds and starts talking again, "However, it's not like I've just been sending him off to get injured again. After this, I told him that I wouldn't heal him for any injuries like these that he gets from school."
I nod slightly, "Well, at least you've told him in advance."
Letting out a sigh, I slump down onto the bed, "Well, it's not really my problem, and in the end, it's up to him if he wants to change or not."
On the screen, Tokoyami goes in for an attack with Dark Shadow and Izuku tries to flick it away using one of his fingers, but fails, and Dark Shadow slams into him, knocking him out of bounds.
'Well, this works out for me. It's much better than fighting against One for All. More controlled and easier to maneuver.'
Kuro snickers in the back of my head, 'Ay, want me to come out for this one? I beat his ass once, I'll beat him again, hahaha!'
But I ignore him and look at the now unconscious Izuku who is being rolled away on screen, "I should get ready soon."
Cracking my fingers, I get off the bed and start stretching, "Recovery Girl, you got water? I'm kinda thirsty."
She nods her head and tosses me a bottle from under her desk. Opening it, I take a few small sips before downing the whole thing, and throwing it in the trash.
"Alright, let's get this over with."

This, to me, is the most realistic outcome.
