Chapter 5: Number 023

I was in a white room. The doors on the opposite side slowly opened, and a man entered the room—middle-aged, short black hair, strange blue eyes that looked like crosshairs. He was only wearing boxer shorts, with an athletic body and a small mustache.

"Oh, so you're the girl Mr. Garaki told me about." He had a slight smile. "What are you waiting for? Come at me." And so, my training began.

(Number 023 pov)

The girl ran towards me and kicked with her leg. I caught her kick with my palm.

"Is that all?" I released my murderous intent on her, and she froze in place, unable to move. Well, at least she didn't lose consciousness.

I approached the motionless girl. 'I need to show her first that I'm the stronger one.' I extended my hand and slowly struck forward. Instinct screamed at me. I stepped back, and two sharp spider legs appeared where I stood.

"Well, that's better. Show me what you can do."

She ran against me, trying to strike with her legs, or at least attempting to. I easily avoided everything. She was open. I took a step forward, aiming my left hand at her abdomen. As expected, two more legs sprang from her back.

'She has good instincts, and it's evident that she follows them. But her technique is terrible; her attacks are completely disorganized.'

During our battle, I analyzed her. I already found out everything I need about her. I intensified a bit. I quickly approached her in a straight line. All her legs aimed at one spot, and I took a small step back, causing all the legs to bounce off each other.

I was a meter away from her. She couldn't defend herself, or at least I thought. Something suddenly shot out from her sleeve, hitting me in the stomach, pushing me back. It was a large centipede.

I said, "That's enough." She stopped and lay on the ground, breathing heavily.

'Excellent, I didn't expect that last attack. It wasn't as strong, but it surprised me. This exceeded my expectations.'

"What's your name?"

"Entoma."

"Alright, Entoma, I'll be your martial arts teacher. I must tell you. You are bad with fighting. You're open with every move you make, and you don't have a decent attack."

I saw her bow her head in shame.

"But I must commend your instincts and the fact that you follow them. I also have to praise you for your last attack, even though it didn't harm me, it genuinely surprised me."

Entoma lifted her head. "Really? I didn't disappoint Master?"

"Of course not. I'm supposed to be your teacher, here to teach you new things. And besides, you're just a child. How old are you anyway?"

"Eight."

"Hmm, well, never mind. Stand up, you still have training ahead of you."

She slowly got up, determined to continue training. 'Heh, we'll see if you have the same spirit at the end.'

"Um, Teacher, if you don't mind, could you tell me about your Quirk?"

"Do you see my eyes? My Quirk is called 'Weakpoint.' I can see the weak points of everyone."

"Alright then, let's go outside, and your real training will begin."

...

(Entoma pov)

'My new teacher is quite cool, even though he doesn't have a Quirk that enhances his physical abilities, he played with me like with a baby. Well, he's not cool as Master, but still, he's pretty cool.'

As I was lost in thought, I suddenly saw light—not sunlight but moonlight.

I looked at my new teacher. "Now you'll run to that hill over there, without using your spider legs, and leave your friends hidden in your clothes here. Don't worry. They'll be sent back by Garaki."

Jeff, Koko, and Nautilus came out of my sleeves and slowly went into Garaki's hole.

The teacher was already gone, so I started running towards the hill. After a while, my instincts began to shout at me. I put my hands in front of me in an X. Suddenly, a log tied to another tree flew at me. I flew back to the beginning. Slowly, I got up and ran back up the hill.

The hill was full of traps and pitfalls. Even though my instincts warned me about them, but I couldn't avoid most of them. Some traps didn't even work with my instincts. As I climbed the hill, I was covered in wounds, and my new clothes were completely torn. The sun was slowly rising on the horizon. "It took you quite a while."

"So, have you caught your breath? You still have to get down." I slowly got up and started running down. "Heh, you still have that fighting spirit in you after all."

...

(Narration pov)

In the forest, a girl could be seen running up the hill, avoiding all traps, knives, pits full of sharp weapons, poisonous gas, and so on.

It didn't bother her at all, and she quickly avoided everything. In half an hour, she reached the top of the hill. There, a middle-aged man was waiting. "Hmm, you got up here pretty quickly and without a scratch. Well, let's go down. There's still sparring ahead." The girl quickly ran back to Garaki's laboratory.

They reached the white cube. Both stood facing each other. The girl ran towards her teacher.

(Entoma pov)

I lay on the ground, face down. I couldn't move at all. I thought about everything. That had happened during this year. I got a teacher who pushed me to the extreme every day.

Every day, I ran up that hill full of traps, and every day, those traps got worse. After that, I had a sparing match with my teacher, and since the day I hit him with Nautilus, I haven't been able to touch him.

I entered my room where my insects were waiting for me. There were four of them. First was Jeff; I gave him energy, and he grew a bit, and a sword started growing from his head. The second is Koko, a slow and oval-shaped beetle; I noticed that her exoskeleton was a bit harder. The third is Nautilus, a centipede that grew ten centimeters. It just keeps growing. Then there's the fourth and newest insect, I named him Bob. Bob is even smaller than the others, looks like a drone beatle, and has four limbs that can grab objects.

I woke up surrounded by plushies.

"I've made up my mind. I'll create my last personal insect, but this one will be even stronger than the others."

In my room, I started using both my hands to create the ultimate insect. Slowly, I began forming an egg from my hands. All day, I was locked in the room, creating the egg.

I looked at the egg, which was larger than me. "It will take a long time until it hatches. Until then, I'll supply it with all my energy whenever I can."
