Chapter 11: Chapter 11 – Opinions: The Inspector, The People and The Villain

The same random inspector's POV (you know, the random inspector in chapter 6)

Another day, another coffee, another villain brought by Knockout… Yeah, my new motto… You like it? And more paperwork for me!

Oh, this time he had brought quite a number of them…That meant what? Even more paperwork for me! Oh joy… I wish I could just retire already, I'm too old for this sh*t…

I quickly took the villain's statements, the same thing as always really: they were going to attack a transport vehicle with villains they wanted to recruit inside, they were charging toward it with pickups, the lost control of said pickups, they crashed, they were almost all knocked out before they even realized what happened, a few seconds later the rest were knocked out. Oh, the leader managed to fight him…If you could call that a fight. He resisted the attempts that Knockout made to knock him out, then taunted him, to no avail. Shortly after, he felt something hitting hard on the back of the head, turned around to see what it was, and was promptly knocked out...

I had seen the almost same scenario quite a number of times already, the only thing that differed was the crimes that they were going to commit.

I didn't even edit his file, as Knockout himself edited it when he wanted. He hacked into the police, no matter what we did to prevent him from doing so and added corrections to his file. He was messing with me at this point… No, he was messing with all of the police force.

He was classified as highly dangerous, but he never used lethal force. It still wasn't recommended to engage him, though, as you were very probably going to end up with a concussion and a few broken bones, and Knockout nowhere in sight.

Although he didn't attack us if we didn't try to attack him first. He even sometimes worked with us or underground heroes. For example, as much as I hated to admit it, he was really helping us with the AnArchY case. He foiled or leaked to us the majority of their future crimes, and often brought some of their members to us. I also gave us almost all the information of proof that we needed against them. I really had no idea how he was getting all of this information, but it was probably illegal. Also, I don't know what AnArchY had done to him for him to hate them to this extent, but I almost pitied them. Almost.

I was in a team that tried to find him, but as much as he seemingly didn't care about anything, we never managed to find anything that could possibly lead to his real identity, he was paranoid about it.

Yes, we were actively searching for him. After all, he had hacked the police several times, but, more importantly, he had several thousands. Yes thousands of cases of aggression, as he had knocked out thousands of villains, and a couple of police officers. Even if they were done against villains, crimes were still crimes.

In fact, he was in the top ten of the most searched criminal in the country. Everyone was looking for him, the heroes, the police and even the underworld. He had a bounty of 10 000 000 ¥ (100 000 USD) issued by the police for him, alive, but in the underworld, the bounty he had was of 100 000 000 ¥ (1 000 000USD) for him dead and twice as much for him alive.

The problem was that the population had quite a good opinion about him. After all, he was dismantling gangs and villains group faster than we could gather information about them, as he was using illegal means. Also, he was active in social media, and often posted pictures of him with his most recently captured villain(s), along with what they had done. The fact that he never killed anyone helped a lot.

They were still quite a few people who disliked him, they were disapproving of his means and they thought he should've been a hero or a police officer if he wanted to save people, but that was the minority.

As for my opinion of him? Well, obviously, I disapproved of him, he was a criminal, but I still respected him a lot for his fight against crime and villainy and the giant target he had painted on his back by dealing with villains. He was putting himself in danger to save others, as they were only one thing that villains hated even more than Heroes: Vigilantes. I respected that, his willingness to put himself in danger to save others. In that sense, he was a true hero.

I returned to the paperwork he had me doing and I realized something. Even with all the paperwork he had me doing, I couldn't bring myself to hate him…

3rd POV

Inside a dimly lighted office, a muscular man in his thirties could be seen, frowning, his usual maniacal grin nowhere to be seen. He was looking at his computer, reading something, when he suddenly slammed his fist on his wooden desk, cracking it.

"THAT DAWN VIGILANTE! When I'll get him, I will flay him, slowly… He will regret having messed with me till the end of his life! But it will already be too late…Soon, I'll have you in my grasp…"

That man was MechAnicAl, the current leader of AnArchY, and he was obviously talking about Knockout. The reason for his sudden outburst was that he had just received the news that his plan to free villains during the transport had just failed, Knockout having intercepted them, once again.

AnArchY had really needed to free and recruit those villains, as their forces were quickly dwindling. In fact, they had sent just under a tenth of their remaining forces to rescue those villains, but it had failed miserably.

The current leader of AnArchY, MechAnicAl, was under a lot of pressure right now because of Knockout, he had gambled a lot on this move and kept it with utmost secrecy. No one except him, one of his lieutenants, and the leader of the gang he had sent knew about the objective and the goal of the mission, so how could've Knockout known about it. Maybe it was a traitor… But no, he was convinced about the loyalty of the two other people who knew about the mission. Maybe Knockout was spying on him, but how? He had searched inside his rooms multiple times for bugs and hidden cameras, but he had found nothing. And he hadn't used his computer at all during the planning, so how? The leader was equally confused and angry about Knockout.

What he didn't know was that there was an invisible finger inside his office and a couple more of them inside all of their bases. They were constantly spying on him. When he searched his office for bugs or cameras, he obviously didn't see an invisible pinky. Also, Raiko could still feel all of his fingers that were spying on people, so when one of them was touched or about to get discovered, he simply moved them somewhere else.

You might be asking yourself: If Knockout knows where all AnArchY bases are and who their leaders are, why doesn't he simply take them all out? Well, that was because he was trying to reduce their forces much as possible, so that no members could escape the final "push". As for the leader, well, he was really useless, so Raiko didn't see the need to dispose of him only for another one to take his place. Raiko had already dealt with the most troublesome members anyway, mostly those with warp gate quirks.

Right now, though, MechAnicAl was making an important decision. He had decided that they were going to lay low for a couple of months to rebuild their forces and bolster their numbers a much as possible, hoping that it would be enough to beat that dawn Knockout.

Of course, this was all seen and known by Raiko, as he had also hacked into MechAnicAl's computer.

Thus, MechAnicAl made a very grave mistake…And one of his last.

A/N: A chapter to “set the mood” about what’s going to happen next, as well as to give you a bit more information relative to what happened during the small time skip.

I know not a lot happened, but it was necessary and I hope you liked it.

Another (small) time skip next chapter along with some more action!

Also, the MC probably won’t be going to UA before at least 10 chapters, maybe even more. BUT, we will get there eventually, and everything I am writing now will be relevant later in the story, don’t worry. Let me know what you think of my story and comment! Review!
