Chapter 14: Chapter 13

Kimberly returned home that afternoon, after having lunch with her dad, feeling really awful for lying to him. She hoped this would be the only time she gets to hide something from him.

“Hey babe, you’re back.” Ian greeted her with a light kiss the moment she walked into the living room.

“Baby, what’s wrong?” He worriedly asked when he noticed the sad look she wore.

“I lied to my dad about the trip, Ian. I couldn’t bring myself to tell him the truth.” Kimberly explained and broke down in tears.

Ian felt terrible for this. If he hadn’t been so upset about her refusal to join him on the trip, she wouldn’t have been under any pressure to please him, at the expense of disobeying her dad.

“Baby, I’m so-“

“I need a nap.” She cut him off and headed upstairs.

Kimberly woke up from her nap when it was already dark outside. She got out of bed and dragged her feet to the bathroom to freshen up. She was out of the bedroom ten minutes later, wearing a nightwear.

She got to the living room and didn’t find Ian there, the TV was just playing with no one watching. She guess, he was close by since the TV was on.

Her guess was right as she heard a crash, the sound came from the kitchen, so she rushed to the kitchen.

When she got there, she noticed some of the kitchen utensils were on the floor while Ian was muttering some curse words. She hurried to his side, got on her knees to pick up the utensils, when suddenly she saw a drop of blood. She wondered where it came from, then another drop the floor again.

Ignoring the utensils, she stood up on her feet to take a proper look at her fiancé who was now a feet away from her, with his back to her.

“Ian, are you alright?”

Kimberly was now worried when she got no reply from Ian, who was now at the sink with his back still to her. The only sound that was heard in the kitchen was the running water. She moved closer when she noticed the water turn red as Ian washed his hands.

“Oh my God! Ian, you’re bleeding!” she gasped, taking his hand to help him wash off the blood.

“It’s nothing, really.” Ian finally said as he tried to free his hand from her grasp, but she wouldn’t let him.

After a while, she noticed that the bleeding had reduced to the minimum, so she reached for a napkin and wrapped it around his hand. She asked him to hold it with pressure before she left the kitchen to go get the first aid kit.

She returned after a short while carefully removing the napkin from his hand and then applied hydrogen peroxide to the cut.

Ian flinched at first, but later relaxed as he got familiar with the pain.

“I’ll need to stitch it up.” She explained, earning a nod from Ian. So, without any further delay, she started to stitch up the cut, the atmosphere was quiet.

“I’m sorry.” Ian suddenly said, breaking the silence between them.

Kimberly didn’t know how to reply to his apology, so she remained silent, making Ian let out a disappointed sigh. She guess he reacted that way because he thought she was upset with him, which wasn’t the case. She was only upset with herself and needed some time alone.

“You did nothing wrong.” She eventually said in a low voice, then placed a kiss on his now stitched up cut, to show that she wasn’t at all mad at him before wrapping it up in a bandage.

She couldn’t help but wonder how he didn’t for once complained when she was stitching up his cut. Other patients would’ve chopped her head off before she was even done with the procedure.

Ian took her hand and pulled her to himself.

“Thank you.” He whispered against her lips before connecting their lips in a sweet kiss.

Kimberly couldn’t deny that she craved his touch at the moment, so she kissed back with much passion. The kiss soon turned into a make out session, with Ian’s hands roaming different parts of her body, getting her aroused.

“Ian, we can’t do this here.” She breathed when his lips found its way to her neck.

He connected their lips once again, giving her a long kiss before pulling away and picked up his shirt from the floor, that Kimberly took off when they were making out and put it back on.

Kimberly reluctantly climbed down the countertop where Ian had earlier placed her. She swore she didn’t want the moment to end.

Gosh! She even wanted something more than just making out to happen right there, but being the cautious and clean freak that is, she couldn’t bring herself let it happen in the kitchen. She was glad Ian was an understanding man.

She stole a glance his way and noticed he had a smirk on as he stared at her.

“What?!” she asked, touching her face, just to be sure there was nothing there.

“You look sexy with those glasses on.” Ian replied, making her blush.

Kimberly had totally forgotten that she had worn her glasses before stitching his cut. She hated them and only wore them when necessary.

“I don’t think so.” She countered back, taking them off without a second thought and placed it back in its case before getting a glass of running water.

“Here. Please, be more careful next time.” She said handing him the glass of water and some painkillers.

“I’ll keep that in mind.” He replied, flashing her a grateful smile before he took the painkillers.

Kimberly was about to leave the kitchen when her nose was filled with a delicious aroma.

“What’s that smell?” she asked as she couldn’t help it. She wanted to know if it actually came from their kitchen.

Ian didn’t reply, instead he put on the cooking gloves and went to the oven. He opened it and brought out a casserole dish, gently placing it on the countertop.

“Ian, you shouldn’t be doing that. Your wound needs to heal.”

“I made chicken casserole for dinner.” He said with a proud smile, ignoring her statement.

“What? How?!” Kimberly asked in surprise.

“B-but, I thought-“

Ian's smile grew wider as he watched his fiancée's look of confusion.

“Let’s say… I learnt how to prepare this meal from a certain beautiful lady.” He explained, now standing in front of her with his arms around her waist.

“Wow! I didn’t know you were paying attention then.” She couldn’t hide the surprise in her voice.

“C’mon, let’s have dinner.” Ian took her hand and led her to the dinning room.
