Chapter 2: A Familiar Name
I'll kill him.
And as soon as i saw the man walking away from the bar, i quickly ran to him and called. "Sir! Wait, you left something!" He gave me his attention, and he was also confused because of what i just said.
And when i was close enough, i secretly pointed my knife at him, not letting anybody see me threatening him. "Oh, interesting. So what is this thing that i left?" He didn't even got scared at all.
I feared that i might've messed with someone who is dangerous, but i need to get rid of people like this.
"Would you like to talk about it at the alley there?" Then he obeyed me. We both went to the alley that people rarely go to.
I was about to confront him, and ask him what he knows about me. But everything turned the way around. He was too quick for me. He was fast enough to steal my knife and point it to my neck. Damn, this was the worst move i ever made on a stranger.
"Hudson, wasn't it?"
"What do you know about me?" He might kill me, but i asked anyway.
Death is always nearby, i don't mind dying anytime at all. Well, not until i fulfill and complete the list i have. I'm confident enough that i'll escape this shit i just got myself into.
I have a gun hidden at my back.
"Hm, you're name was familiar... but your face wasn't. Tell me, you're not Hudson, aren't you?"
"I am Hudson! And what the hell do you know---" i suddenly felt the knife gently pierce into my skin. It stings.
"No. You're not, Hudson." He said, and he seemed to know a lot too.
And i was confused, he let me go but still has the knife with him. He wiped the blood on its blade and gave it back to me. "No matter, i don't actually care. I'll let this slide and pretend nothing happened."
Then he left me full of questions in my mind.
I called out to him and asked his name. He smiled and replied, "It's George. See you around, Hudson." And that mysterious man left.
George?
I think i remember reading that name in that notebook.
We were all excused and it was time to go home. Justin and i went home together since we both live in the same neighborhood. While we were walking, he kept telling me about the unusual things that happened during our work.
He was always like this, i think he thinks of me as a friend but i just try to get along with him. He's quite annoying though, his mouth wouldn't stop talking until we got home.
"Oh, there's my house now, see you tomorrow Hudson!" Then he went home and i saw him opening his door, there was two kids waiting for him and greeted him.
Must be nice to have someone that'll greet you once you get home.
I continued to walk home. And as i opened my door, there was nothing interesting to see. Everything was just dark and cold. Turning on the lights, i can see that everything was a mess.
I probably forgot to clean up last week.
I actually haven't been at home these couple of days, since i was investigating about his location. It was difficult since Jeremiah is a busy man.
While picking up the things on the floor, i tried recalling everything i learned from the man that worked for that bastard. He said that in two days, that man will be attending a fancy cruise ship that'll travel in sea for about four days.
And it was just my luck to learn that they're hiring more people to work in the ship.
"Ouch!" I flinched, i didn't noticed that my finger pricked a shard of glass. That was when i noticed that my picture frame broke, it must've accidentally fell down.
Picking up the picture, i saw myself there... and i looked happy.
This is probably for the best, i threw the picture away as soon as i finished cleaning the house. The past and the present would never be the same. In this cruel world, happiness is bound to be destroyed.
I rested for a few hours, and after that, i fixed all the things i'll use to hunt that Jeremiah Gabeslock down. As i saw my reflection on the knife i was cleaning, i smiled.
This is what you wanted me lived for, right?
