Chapter 7: Chapter 7: The Start Of The Mission
Layn POV:
I saw the text Mal sent to me. I feel so scared and helpless knowing what is happening around and who our enemy is. But because I am not strong enough to defeat him, I just got no choice but to seek help. I set my phone next to my bed stand and lay down on my bed, drifting off to sleep.
"Please! Somebody! Help me!" I heard a voice of a girl crying for help. The sound seems to come from the direction of the forest. I ran towards the voice to see what was going on. But as I reached near to the source of the sound, my legs stop moving. No matter how hard I force myself I am still stuck at the same place. Then I heard that familiar voice that I could never forget, "Shhh...silent princess. You wouldn't want to wake up that beast at the corner. If he wakes up, you will be a goner." Tyn whisper to the lady. I could feel the sinister smile that he gives when he speaks.
I couldn't see my surroundings clearly as it was dark. All i know is that I am standing behind a tree looking at two black figures, one which is the girl and the other being Tyn. The girl started sobbing "Please don't kill me. I promise I will do anything you ask me too. I can give you all the money you need. Just please don't kill me, I have a son to take care off. Please have mercy." the lady started crying. Tyn step closer towards the lady "Well what a pity it is to left a poor little son without his mother by his side. Oh no worries your son will never be alone and he will still be with his mother. In the afterlife." with that Tyn attacks the lady as she screams. Her screams could not be heard from far as Tyn closed her mouth. I started to shiver and felt a rush of panic running in me.
As Tyn finish draining all the blood left in the lady, I tried to move to go to a safer place so that he could not spot me. "Crack!" the sound of the twigs on the ground cracks as I made my first step. Tyn heard of my presence as I cursed silently on my carelessness. I started to run away as fast as I could, suddenly a huge figure stopped me infront of my tracks. "Well well well, what do we have here. An extra meal for me I see. Hmph...coincidentally I am still hungry from my previous meal," after finishing his sentence, Tyn lung straight at me.
"Nooo!!!" I screamed and woke up from my nightmare. My parents rushed into my room to check on me. "Layn are you okay? Did you have nightmares?" my dad asked as he hug me. " Yeah, it's just a nightmare. I'll be fine. Sorry to disturb your sleep." I told my parents as they left my room to continue their sleep. I look at the time and it was 3am. I sigh and went back to sleep. The next day I felt my muscles so sore. I got out of bed and get ready to meet up with the rest.
Mal POV:
I woke up feeling pissed off by the talk I had with Dragno in my dreams. Yup, I got angry at a dragon I met in my dreams. He was busy teasing me right after I solve those riddles that he imagine in his head. I can't believe it that he would do such a thing towards me. I though dragons are suppose to be wise thinking and won't do lame jokes.
I went to the park to wait for the rest of my friends. Then I overheard a group of boys sitting near me talking about a young lady and her son being murdered last night. The police found their remains in the forest, the same place the first murder case took place at. Not only that, both mother and son were drained off their blood. I had a very bad feeling about these cases that are happening around. A few minutes later, all of us finally gathered. We went to the corner of the park where it's more private and easier to talk.
"Guess what guys. I overheard a group of boys mentioning another murder in the forest. It's the same as the first case, and this time it was two people, a mother and her son." I told the group. Then I saw Layn's face turn pale quickly, "Layn what's wrong? You look so pale. Are you feeling okay?" "I think I witness the whole murder last night." Layn replied. She told us everything she saw that night in her dreams. Then only Layn knew that the person in that dream was not her but she was looking through the eyes of the small boy watching his mother getting killed then him next.
We were silent for few minutes trying to digest what we heard. "I guess that right now doing nothing won't solve this case. We have to take action. If we don't catch this monster, he is going to hunt the whole neighbourhood here including our own families. We have to stop him before he finds the next victim." I said. "So what do you suggest?" said Anubis after keeping quiet the whole time. I told everyone on the conversation I had with Dragno. We decided to go over to the crime scene right after school to investigate. Hoping that we can find some clues. "First and foremost, I need to know if you guys are really in this thing. We won't have anyone to protect us. Knowing Mr. Principal, he will forbid us from doing this. Hence, we are doing it secretly." I said, wanting a confirmation with everyone. Everyone agreed on doing this mission, which on the other hand makes me worried of the vision I had with my own friends being in trouble. I just hope and pray hard that it doesn't come to that.
After finishing our plans, we all headed to the library together to start our classes. As per schedule, right after training was over, we started to cycle towards the forest to find some clues. When we reached the crime scene, Nick started to work on his tracking spell, Layn was quiet all the while along the journey. "You okay Layn?" I asked her, she replied with a smile indicating that she is trying her best. It's hard for her to face an enemy that has killed her friend infront of her.
"I GOT IT!!" Nick screamed with delight. "Well done doggie" said Anubis. Nick gave a glare towards Anubis and then started to track the scent of the monster. "Are you guys sure about this? If we take this step there is no turning back for all of us." I said, hoping that some would stay behind to keep away from trouble. "Nope. We are not going to back out. Someone has to stop this guy from killing innocent lives." Rose commented. Ahead we go with the troubles that will come to us soon.
