Chapter 2: Another Sun?

It was the very first day of school—usually the time for introductions—as such, almost half of the class didn't attend, which meant it would be the same for most of Arch's next few classes.

The day passed, and before he knew it, it was already 3 p.m., and the last of his class for today has ended. By now, he had already made a few friends. Apart from Gelo, he also got acquainted with Patrick, Robby, and Benette. These three also enjoyed computer games, especially DOTA 2, and they even made plans to play a few days later.

Patrick was a lean guy who seemed quiet and restrained in his actions, but actually quite talkative the moment he talked about games. He was, in fact, the most handsome of the group, and many girls in the class kept stealing glances at him all day long. His slick back hair gave off a flamboyant look, and the piercing in his ears added a "bad boy" image. All these with his straight edged-nose, brown eyes, and arched lips made him the most conspicuous guy in the entire room.

Robby was simply a quirky guy, the joker of the group, which was contrary to his build—tall, muscular, and fit. He would probably pack quite a strong punch with those biceps of his. He was, however, the guy who made everyone talk. He liked to tell all kinds of jokes, especially dirty ones, and this helped create a light atmosphere all throughout the day.

Benette was the guy that seemed to be the most ordinary in the group—he had looks that was neither handsome nor ugly, and a build that stayed between fit and chubby. He was the guy who kept on laughing even from the corniest of jokes. He was lively and always had something to talk about whatever the topic was.

For today, the only thing left was a freshman orientation at 4 p.m. as well as a small tour of the campus right after. Arch, Gelo, Patrick, Robby, and Benette had already formed quite a group in the class. It was eye-catching how the tallest and shortest guys in the class were in the same group, not to mention the most handsome, too.

There was an hour window before the orientation, so the group went to the canteen to get some snacks and go "sight-seeing" as per the suggestion of Robby.

"Look, that girl's really, really nice." Robby pointed at a girl getting fries in one of the stalls with his mouth. He looked at the other four with a glint in his eyes. To simply put, what he meant by sightseeing was to check out girls.

Among the group, only Benette had a girlfriend, while the other four were either looking for one or wasn't really interested in a romantic relationship yet. Arch was one of the latter since there were experiences in the past that he had yet to untangle his heart from.

Gelo's eyes looked for a moment but decided to shift soon after. Robby caught this, and he had such a dirty smile as he teased him, "Not your type, eh? You like 'them' bigger or smaller?"

"This dirty fellow," Gelo said as he concentrated on eating his chips. Although he was very shy when he introduced himself to the others this morning, the conversations they had throughout the day made him comfortable with the group. He was now talking more and more, and he even made jokes, too. As for that girl, she really was indeed not his type. As for what his type was, he didn't dare talk about it, especially with this dirty fellow.

"Robby, what do you say we go for drinks after the tour?" Patrick asked as he stared at the girl Robby mentioned. He nodded a few times and placed his hand on his chin, as if deep in thought. Truth be told, whatever was on his mind could easily get him arrested. He wasn't meek at all, and the elegant demeanor he showed was nothing but a facade. After all, he was someone who knew how to use his own strengths.

"Can't. Need to meet someone later."

Robby's reply caused everyone to stop and stare at his direction. Their eyes locked on to each other, as if understanding something. Patrick then shifted between Arch and Benette. "How about you two?"

"I'm down with it. I live nearby, so I can stay up late," Benette replied.

Arch thought for a moment but shook his head. "Don't we have classes tomorrow? I don't really want to go home late. Need to wake up early."

Patrick nodded and asked Benette, "Since you live nearby, do you know any good place?"

Benette thought for a moment but wasn't able to give a good answer. He didn't really go to those bars or clubs since most of the time, he would just buy alcohol outside and bring it home.

"The Three Little Pigs bar behind Newport Mall is a nice place. It's quite secluded, and the ambiance is nice. They make nice cocktails." Surprisingly, it was Gelo who made a suggestion—the same guy who said he didn't drink any alcoholic drinks.

"Aren't you a non-drinker?" Robby asked, confused.

"I just happened to know the bar owner. I can bring you there later if you're really going."

"That explains it... But are you sure you really don't drink?" Patrick asked.

Gelo simply nodded. It seemed he wasn't really fond of alcoholic drinks. It was just that his now wooden expression made it hard for the others to determine what he was thinking about.

"Can you pinpoint the exact area?" Benette showed the "maps" app on his phone, which displayed their current location and the places near their area.

Gelo took the phone and typed Three Little Pigs. Soon, a road map that displayed the fastest route to get there appeared on the app. Benette showed it to the others and saved the location.

He once again looked at it and said, "Oh, I think I know this place. I used to play on a computer just beside it. How about a game or two first before going for drinks?"

Patrick affirmed him with a nod, and surprisingly, Gelo said, "I'll come with you."

Arch simply watched from the side as all of these were happening. It was quite a fun day. He made four new friends, and he had spoken so many things that it seemed it was a month's worth of words. 'It's nice to have people to talk to.'

The words in his mind elicited a strong emotion in his heart. After all, the past had been one hell of a ride for him. Lots of painful memories he didn't really wish to think about. For now, all he hoped was that history wouldn't repeat itself. Luckily—or unluckily—for him, history would, indeed, not repeat itself.

An hour passed by in this manner, and soon they found themselves rushing to the orientation room because they had so much idle chatter and didn't notice the time. It was at this time that something caught Arch's vision.

In front of them was the Science building, and on the 2nd floor was the orientation room. He was trying to determine which room it was and how long it would take for them to reach it when he caught sight of a peculiar phenomenon.

He rubbed his eyes and said, " Guys..."

The other four stopped running and looked at him in confusion. Then, they realized he was looking up into the sky, and soon they also followed his eyes. What they all saw was the same phenomenon, and it was Benette who broke the silence, "Why are there two suns?"
