Chapter 33: Dungeon

After a meal and introducing the new employees to Laia, Aurus turned his attention to the dungeon. They had eaten and talked for around two hours and it was now time to get all the possible information from the dungeon and set it up.

Opening the dungeon icon, he first noticed that the energy was completely full and that he could immediately start creating new floors and 'spawning' monsters.

In addition, there was already a floor which was where the dungeon core was located and also where a few houses existed which was most likely the accommodation the system had prepared for the new employees.

Going back to the store, he noticed that a new door had appeared on the right wall next to the entrance.

Entering the door, he saw a great space that could easily accommodate over ten thousand people. In the center of said space, there were stairs going down and Aurus could tell it was the stairs to go down in the dungeon.

However, he and the employees were different from the customers. After all, you couldn't expect them to fight monsters to go down to the last floor in order to go and see the dungeon core or go back to their houses. It would be tiring and there could easily be dangers for the employees and himself if they were any monsters on the floor.

Opening the system, he gave access to the teleportation mode to go to the last floor of the dungeon to his eight employees.

Teleporting down to the core floor, Aurus noticed that the scenery was greatly similar to the dungeon he had previously conquered. There was a forest, a small lake along with a small path made of rocks and a few houses located around the floor. In the very center was an altar upon which laid the dungeon core.

Not bothering with the dungeon core for the moment, he assigned houses for all of his servants and made sure they had everything they needed before leaving them in their new homes. He had already explained the rules of the shop and the time the shop had to open. They would have to go to the shop five minutes before the opening and be ready to welcome guests. As for the two fairies which would mostly work in the house, they would get up at seven every morning to prepare breakfast for everyone. He didn't exploit them as they really wanted to work for him and they expressed their wish to be able to prepare food for everyone every morning.

While eating previously, he had prepared for the salary of the eight new employees. They would receive a certain wage daily for their complete work even if there were no customers that day. Of course, that wouldn't happen as the store had become relatively famous and it was a needed shop for the nobles and hunters.

As for their wages, they were paid a certain amount of crystals. Their crystals could be used however they wanted on every free day they had across the week which was basically a day per week.

In the beginning, Aurus had wanted to have them take turns when working in order not to work them too much. However, after hearing their willingness to work six days a week, he nodded without too much problem.

For the moment he had managed to work in the shop alone but it was in the condition that the customers didn't ask for any help and he couldn't help them out pick the best resources for their contracted beast.

He had thought about having the customers pay for their recommendation but in the end, he forgot the idea. He already received a great number of crystals each day and having them pay a little much wasn't that useful. Moreover, if he didn't make them pay and recommended the right resources for their contracted beasts, he would receive more customers. Those same customers would all come to his shop since with his recommended resources a rank-up had never messed up and always gone well.

Anyway, maybe he wasn't a good businessman. However, he just felt bad about having them pay more when the majority paid more than hundreds of crystals each time they entered the shop.

Moreover, over the week when the shop was opened, there were a few positive points except for the increase in the rank of contracted beasts. The land around the city was being completely cleaned of monsters. On the north of the city was a big forest which was a good hunting ground for Hunters although dangerous as some beasts were strong.

Stopping thinking about random things of the shop, Aurus brought back his thoughts to the dungeon. The employees were all settled. It was now time to set it up. Going up the altar and sitting in the chair behind it, he put his hands on the core and started to activate it.

The dungeon icon automatically opened in front of his eyes and he immediately started working. He had a total of 10'000 energy which was the maximum the dungeon core could currently store.

The first floor costs a total of 1000 energy. This floor was made exactly for the bronze rank grade one cultivator along with their contracted beast. He, unfortunately, couldn't build the other floors before this one. So, he bought a few of the monsters he had previously fought and seen such as the goblins, giant rats and slimes. Those were the equivalent of bronze rank stage 1 according to the dungeon icon.

He immediately bought monster spawners for these three kinds of monsters. He wouldn't continue to buy new ones all the time. After all, he would lose a massive amount of energy summoning them every day and he couldn't just waste his energy and time on resupplying the dungeon with new monsters.

Looking at the energy remaining, Aurus smiled bitterly. There was only less than 4000 energy to continue to prepare the dungeon. The good point however was that the energy was currently filling up albeit slowly.

He couldn't even create the second floor of the dungeon yet as it cost a total of 5000 energy.

Seeing this, Aurus thought he had misread the cost of energy for building a new floor and he was depressed seeing that he didn't. While the cost was completely fine, the most important point was that the dungeon could only collect a total of 10,000 energy at its core. In other words, as long as the price of the floor exceeded ten thousand, he had to increase its energy capacity. And how to do this? By getting more dungeon cores to let the dungeon core increase its strength.

Slowly coming to this understanding, Aurus gave a black look at the dungeon icon and closed page in front of him. Honestly, in his opinion, the start of the dungeon was a complete disappointment. He had expected to be able to play with the icon a little bit, create multiple floors and all kinds of monsters. The result? He created a floor and some monsters and he couldn't do anything else.

Aurus then said goodbye to the others and left for the 'new' first floor. The bronze rank stage 1 floor. Entering it, he saw that there were already a few monsters all around. Of course, not a lot and only a total of two in each species. He had set the spawners in remote areas and were hidden behind an illusion so that they wouldn't be attacked by the Hunters.

Looking at the monsters and having an idea that they could be a source of materials, he killed a goblin with a swipe of his hand and when he looked at it, it disappeared into smoke as it fell to the ground. However, he noticed that some energy was being absorbed into his body. Considering the amount of energy collected by killing a single goblin, he calculated that a bronze rank stage 1 cultivator would have to kill at least a thousand goblins to manage to reach the maximum of energy the body needed to breakthrough.

However, that didn't take into consideration the refining of energy in their bodies and the amount of energy their body could take before having to cultivate a little. After all, if they just took the energy of a thousand goblins in one go, they would easily explode. Thus, they would only be able to kill around a dozen monsters on this floor before having to go back and cultivate with the newfound energy. It would, in Aurus' opinion, be the same for their contracted beasts.

Seeing all of this in front of him and the rate at which the dungeon was spawning new monsters, Aurus decided to wait for a bit before the release of the dungeon to the new customers. Until that time, he would do some promotions to get more people interested in the dungeon and creating some sort of hype. It would also give him time to create another floor or two and get a new dungeon core in the other world.
